This is a substantial tool feeling very robust and gives the impression it is going to stand the test of time. What I really like about it is its very compact nature and that it is very easy to control and together with it being cordless I think makes it an ideal tool to have. The 12v professional range of tools are not cheap but can be operated around a set of batteries and charger so increasing their versatility.

The Bosch 10.8-12 volt jigsaw looks nice and strong as usual Bosch, but why doesn't it have a normal trigger so that you can control it properly as the on off switch on the side is ridiculous, as we have all hit something full on behind inside a wall or panel / cavity etc with a blade, and the jigsaw has banged against it and you need to quickly switch it off, with a trigger its easy but with a switch come on it's not good and the speed wheel behind the back of the jigsaw is near impossible to control when it's running. Come on Bosch please put a normal speed adjusting trigger on the 10.8-12 volt jigsaw. The side switch is utter madness and in my opinion dangerous .

As with all Bosch Professional tools the build quality is very robust. The jigsaw is very comfortable to hold and use, being 12v it is light and very manoeuvrable in complex shapes. It is a powerful machine despite being 12v, ideally you need to use a 3 0r 4Ah battery as it uses a 2Ah battery in about 30 minutes. Not an issue if you have a spare battery. I use 2 2Ah batteries and rotate them between the jigsaw and charger. I am very pleased with the jigsaw and would recommend it for medium duty work.
Typical great build quality from a Bosch Professional line, but the ergonomics aren't great (yeah it's small, which is good in some ways, but the way you hold it is awkward -both in itself and in regard to the position of the controls). Also - and this may reflect more on my technique and/or choice of blades but I feel I should mention it: I bought it to cut a smooth straight line through a 48mm thick chipboard kitchen worktop. I used a straight piece of wood clamped down to act as a guide rail and proceeded to cut with the jigsaw properly seated and aligned: Turns out the blade was flexing and so went enormously off-line without me realising, until the thing started screaming at me! Is this replacement for a mains powered saw? – No, but as a useful capability in the bag that can saw accurately and powerfully in a very small space, a really useful bit of kit. Especially if you already have other Bosch 12v tools and buy the bare (no battery) saw. Note the speed is adjustable via a selection wheel on the back and it has an off on switch on its side. This means there is no way the main hand guiding the saw can change the speed while operating it (there is no acceleration trigger), but for a right hander you can turn it off with your thumb, a lefty a fingertip will do it. I really like it as it is so small, you pop it in the bag just in case…rather than separately lugging big brother around on the off chance it might be needed.
I decided to go with the 12v rather than 18v as it meant I could use my batteries from my drills, I was worried about how long the battery charge would last but I was pleasantly surprised, they last well! No lack of power either. It comes in very handy for when you go to do a quick job and there isn't any power or is outside. It's lightweight and easy to use. Although the on/switch rather than a trigger gets a bit of getting used to.
Surprisingly heavy for such a compact unit but as a result solidly built yet not too heavy to use single-handed. I’m impressed with cutting performance though too early yet to comment on long-term reliability or battery life. My only, slight, negative comment is that the switch is slide-on/slide-off. Surprised that for safety reasons its not spring-loaded to ‘off’. This is yet another addition to my collection of Bosch Professional kit (some 10.8/12V, some 18v) none of which has ever let me down. No hesitation in recommending.
I used this to scribe in kitchen cabinet end panels. 1/2 way through the second panel the thing overheated and stopped working until it cooled down. Admittedly in between panels I left it out in 25 degree sun but I've never had other brands of tools not work on hot days! Size is great and dust collection is OK (obviously depends on the vac). On/off switch is little awkward to reach depending on how you hold it...
This came on time. Well packed. Fits nice and comfortable in your hands. Good all rounder. The reason for just four stars is, the battery power light only shows whilst the jigsaw is running. Well worth the money.
