The Breville Fast Slow Pro Multicooker lets you cook fast or cook slow. This combination pressure and slow cooker accurately knows the time, temperature, and pressure needed for different foods. There are 11 pressure cook settings plus a custom setting to suit all your favourite recipes. The auto steam release setting removes any of the pressure from pressure cooking by adjusting to different foods to eliminate overcooking and release steam hands-free. The LCD display provides full feedback about what’s going on inside the pot with a pressure indicator, temperature and countdown timer and steam release indicator.

Glitchy, expensive, temporary

Works great when not having operating issues. The lid is a pain to keep sealed properly for pressure cooking - often bleeding pressure and defeating the whole purpose of having a pressure cooker. Beware the dreaded, mysterious ‘EO’ fault code - which essentially paralyses the whole unit. Online research suggests it’s a fairly common fault, but there doesn’t seem to be a practical solution. I replaced the gasket, and even purchased a new $80 lid hoping that would clear the fault… Nope! This overly complex, expensive cooker lasted all of 3 years. I’ve written it off as a waste of money and patience.

Lid not closed issue terrible
1 June 2022

Been using for a few years and as some have mentioned possibly better with stainless bowl but not sure if food would stick? The lid seal issue is a shocker. Does not matter how careful you are aligning the vent the fault still pops up randomly. Sometimes we get it to go first time and others spend an hour mucking around opening and shutting the lid until it will go through cycle. I purchased 2 of these a few years ago (one as a gift) and despite changing mine over the exchange unit does the same. The other one has the same issue. Be good it wasn’t for the lid close issue. Don’t normally post reviews but seen plenty of others have the same problem and thought I would share my experience. People with multi cookers half the price have no problems. Seems like a good robust piece of kit. Quite large and imposing sitting on the kitchen counter - make sure you've got enough space! Lid re-assembly after washing slightly complicated. No delay start function for slow cooker as on some other manufacturers' appliances, which is a problem so, like another reviewer, one star deducted. Other star deducted because of lack of recipes/precise instructions as described below. Other star deducted because of lack of recipes/precise instructions as described below. Because this cooker allows you to brown/saute food directly inside it (great option), you will have to use the 'trial and error' method to adapt slow cooking recipes from a generic slow cook recipe book, where food is browned in a separate pan before adding to the slow/pressure cooker. The recipe book provided gives a paltry, pathetic even, 39 recipes, 4 of which are for different stocks, 4 of which are for artichokes (OK if you like artichokes!), and 3 risotto recipes but only 3 for desserts. I really would have liked a lot more basic recipes with a much wider range of everyday ingredients (e.g. bear in mind that about 30% of the population actually hate goat's cheese even if they like other cheeses, quinoa isn't very popular (try barley, Bulgar wheat, lentils, beans - I would have thought lentils to be a brilliant ingredient for slow or pressure cooking - anything that otherwise needs soaking for hours before using?). So if you're only giving us one cheese recipe, please make it a cheese that is more universally liked. So please, please provide us with many more recipes, specifically for the SlowPro using popular ingredients. The more exotic ingredients can come into play later when we've got the hang of using this machine. I made the chicken stock in the pressure cooker, with some trepidation as I haven't used a pressure cooker ever, as I'm rather scared of them! (Took me two goes to get the lid to lock properly after disassembling for cleaning.) But I wasn't particularly impressed with the end result, following the recipe given (not that different from the one I normally use) - there wasn't much flavour to the stock, my usual recipe cooked for about 4 hours on a low heat on the stove gave a much better result. Next time I will try the stock in the slow cooker to see if it makes a difference. The other reason for asking for dedicated recipes for this appliance is that some of the recipes in the generic cook books assume that the slow cooker is a large oval shape. I can't see this SlowPro taking a very large chicken (even though there is a recipe for a whole 1.5kg chicken), but I haven't actually tried it yet so will reserve judgement. However, I have come across recipes for a slow cooked teacake, and for a terrine, both of which use a loaf tin placed inside the slow cooker. As it is round, this cooker is not going to take a large loaf tin, only my very smallest loaf tin (20cm x 10cm x 7cm) will just about fit inside it, so it would be necessary to halve the recipes. Again the trial and error method will mean that you could probably make round teacakes and terrines if you have any tins that will fit. I would also like some recipes for similar items as confirmation that it is actually OK to use cake tins etc. inside the SlowPro - can anyone let me know if this is acceptable? I wouldn't want to damage the appliance. I think this is a great piece of kit if you are going out and want to have a meal ready when you get back (so when the world is back to what will be a new 'normal' and I can go back to work/social gatherings) I am sure the slow cooking function will be very useful indeed. I'm not sure about the pressure cooker, needs more experimentation.

I am very pleased with this cooker. I have been using it for years. Its many functions, versatility and simple operation saves me time and effort. The pressure cooker function is very efficient and safe to use. The preprogrammed cooking functions make things even simpler although I find that the cooking times using these programs can be longer than required. So I often use the manual timer setting. The slow cooker function adds to the versatility although the longest time it can be set for is four hours. The aluminum cooking pot is non-stick coated so using plastic or wooden utensils is recommended to avoid abrading the surface. I would have preferred a stainless steel pot instead. I phoned Breville who were very helpful and arranged with the store where I purchased the cooker to replace it immediately without further questions. I have had no issues with the second one. Very happy with the product and with Breville’s customer support.

NOT happy
20 December 2022

My daughters bought this as a gift for me June 2020. We lived overseas for over 12 months, so the cooker remained here in Australia whilst we travelled. Since being back, I've used the slow cooker no more than 6 times, the Pressure cooker once (just to try it out, I was impressed) and hadn't used the rice cooker function at all. Just went to use it recently, to sear protein before slow cooking, and the heat just stopped whilst in the searing function. Tried all other functions to test heating, nothing. Yes, it was out of the 12 month warranty, however, like I said, it had barely been used. It was like brand new!! I would expect more, it's not like it was a $100 item. Not happy

It leaves me with the choices to remove the Teflon from the pan or buy a new pan for $29.95. I own many different Breville product that all seem to be extraordinary pieces of machinery, but unfortunately, this does not meet the same quality standards in my opinion of the other products Breville makes. I am a firm believer in the Breville product line, but would not consider suggesting to anyone to purchase their pressure cooker. I think I would just state that I’m happy with bravo, but I’m not as happy with their pressure cooker as I should be but it is a usable product. Someone might need to look into what we need to be done to replaced up the pot without having to buy the same one over and over and over because it doesn’t last because it’s Teflon is not applied in a way that it won’t flake off it would’ve been much better if Breville had made a stainless steel pot to go in their pressure cooker or at least gave an option to buy a stainless steel pot to go in the pressure cooker after market. I really have a hard time rating any Breville product poor, but this would be the one that would deserve a poor rating even though I would rate it 2-3 stars if 1 star didn’t indicate poor, because I really like this product outside the two issues that I have stated.

The Fast Slow Pro is incredible, but unfortunately possesses one perilous flaw
18 September 2021

First and foremost, I adore Breville products. As a doctor of engineering myself, I appreciate how well engineered Breville's appliances are. And for the most part the Fast Slow Pro is amazing. It's extremely well designed, in terms of both function and aesthetics, and has performed supremely well in the several times that we've used it during the week that we've owned it. It has one major design flaw, however, which regrettably prohibits me from giving it a 5-star rating: point #9 on page 22 of its manual says that it will warn the user if the lid is locked when operated in steam mode. But it doesn't. But it doesn't. I called Breville support about this when I tested my first Fast Slow Pro upon its arrival and I was told to exchange it, which I did, but its replacement (which I kept) also has this design flaw. And, speaking as an engineer, this isn't a minor point, because I demonstrated to Breville support that if the user locks the lid and fails to open the pressure release valve then the Fast Slow Pro will build pressure in steam mode, which naturally raises the steaming temperature and affects the cooking results. MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY, HOWEVER, the Fast Slow Pro's pressure release valve isn't programmed to release pressure in steam mode, and thus it depends upon the pressure safety valve to release pressure and prevent the Fast Slow Pro from exploding like a bomb (that's no exaggeration - pressure cookers are often used by terrorists to create bombs. Recall the Boston Marathon bombers). Future revisions of the Fast Slow Pro need to correct this shortcoming. Furthermore, I would very much like Breville to revise future versions of the Fast Slow Pro to also warn the user to open the pressure release valve, in addition to not locking the lid, when in steam mode, sear mode, etc.

I have had a couple of Pressure cookers over the years & this one is excellent. I have not tried the Slow Cook function . It is much heavier & more solid than my previous cheaper ones. I got used to its controls very quickly & have had beautiful succulent meat & chicken every time. It cooks lentils, soups & even soft boiled eggs perfectly. I have not had it long enough to try any of the other things in its informative little recipe book. I bought this one because it has variable levels of pressure which I find essential, & because it was recommended by Hester Bumenthal, I have also realised it saves a lot of power!
