I received this lipstick for free in exchange for my review. I received the shade 999, which is a bright, warm-toned red (it seems to have a subtle cherry scent?). This isn’t typically a color I would choose for myself, but I was pleasantly surprised by how it looked on my complexion (Fenty 380, Maybelline FM 335, Lancome 460, Nars Caracas). I have worn it several times now and I am pretty impressed with the formula. This glides on incredibly smoothly and feels like butter on the lips, though I took off a star because the color seems to apply a little patchy and I had to work to fix it (this is probably less apparent on lips less pigmented than mine). The bullet shape of this lipstick is a little more difficult to use for me personally, but I have been able to manage to apply it neatly all over, including my inner corners with minimal mess. I didn’t experience any feathering but I did try this both with and without a lipliner and preferred the look of it with liner. I did a 12 hour wear test on this and was shocked at how well it held up. I found that the lipstick feels a tiny bit dry during the first few minutes that you put it on, but after it fully sets it is surprisingly comfortable. In my photo (without liner) you can see the difference between when I first applied it and how it looked at the end of the day. It was virtually unchanged except for a bit of it missing along the inner wet/dry line of my lips even in this humid NC 95 degree heat. I had several meals (all fork/knife food, nothing I had to bite into like pizza or a burger), snacks, beverages, and even took a nap and it still looked great. I actually forgot I was wearing it at several points throughout the day because it feels like almost nothing on the lips. I wouldn’t say it’s hydrating, but it also isn’t drying as many matte/soft matte lipsticks are. The black soft matte packaging is also beautiful and it looks great in my makeup holder. I would wholeheartedly recommend this lipstick if you’re into soft matte longwear lipsticks.

The transfer resistance is huge for me because I’ve yet to find a tube lipstick that lives up to being completely transfer-proof. If you are looking for a beautiful creamy formula that actually stays put then I highly recommend you give this a try. I just tried the Rouge Dior forever lipstick, 742 forever sisterhood and here are my thoughts : COLOR: it's a very intense true red, suitable to most skin tones, I thought it was slightly darker from the photo but I like it KISS PROOF: after applying the lipstick I waited 5 minutes and it's 99% kiss proof. It doesn't leave any trace unless you truly try hard to smudge it. WEARABILITY: it's very easy to apply, even for me (I'm not super precise in the application), it leaves the lips feeling moisturised and you almost forget you gave it on. Very light and nourishing. Super comfortable to wear. This is the best feature of thus lipstick in my opinion. I give 4 stars because mine has a little defect, which is annoying and not practical. When I try to retract the lipstick inside the tube it gets stuck and I have to push it to put it back. Not nice to touch it with your fingers all the time, especially if you are outside. From a brand like Dior I would have expected a bit more care in these details. All in all I would recommend it for the wearability, hidrating texture and color.

I did prep my lips beforehand using Lip Glow in shade Beige, and I very much recommend you do the same in your Lip Glow shade of choice. I kissed my Hello Kitty compact mirror to check if this was really as transfer-proof as it is touted to be. With a light peck, there was absolutely no transfer. With a bit more pressure, I did see some of the pigment rub off - so keep that in mind. Overall I am impressed with this product. Infused with red peony extract and promising 16 hours of color, your lips are both color enhanced and hydrated - all while feeling bare and traceless. Other shades I’d love to try include the limited edition Forever Tender and Forever Grace. What is your favorite shade?

I am an avid makeup user and typically know what to look for in makeup based on which items have a cult following and Dior is one of those brands that just doesn’t live up to the name. If i ever find enough money to treat myself and an occasion to do so it might be to another shade in this lipstick range. Dior 1st impression. This feels like innovative technology. Applies thinner and with a smoother glide than I anticipated but it’s not silicone or creamy feeling. Slightly sticky when I press my lips together but not uncomfortable. It feels like the lightest liquid lipstick finish but not wet at all. 2nd impression I lined my lips with nyx cherry lip liner but didn’t fill in my lips then i applied 1 even coat of the lipstick and waited 3 minutes before drinking water. I personally wouldn’t reach for such a matte yet comfortable lip product on a daily basis as I prefer a hydrated glowy finish, but this lipstick would be absolutely perfect for a wedding, special event, photoshoot, any special event where you want a statement lip that lasts very well. I ate a meal with olive oil and the inner part of color faded but the outside was still full color. If you’re just drinking it should hold up well but after a meal anticipate touching up. I’m not experiencing any of the initial stickiness upon my 2nd impression that I had with the first and I think it’s because my lips had some balm on them the first time I wiped off prior to putting it on and this time my lips were totally dry beforehand and there is zerooooo stickiness yay!
