Pro tip-- they aren't kidding about breaking them in. These shoes hate you. These shoes hate you the way a toddler hates the world because they need a nap: unreservedly and without any fault of your own. You love these shoes. They're adorable, you love them with the objective love the Greeks must have had some word for. The shoes care not. You will wear them with two pairs of socks and bandaids on your heels and wince with every step and it will be worth it, because the boots are the kind of lover who is beautiful and perfect and careless with your heart. There will come a day when you walk without pain for the first time and you will think they've changed. Know they still need time. Be patient, be attentive, carefully reapply bandaids and know that it is all worth ... MorePro tip-- they aren't kidding about breaking them in. These shoes hate you. They are perfect and untrustworthy and it'll all be worth it in the end.True to size and color.

I’ve tried UK Size 8 1460 (made overseas) in Dr Martens stores and they are vast - I would need a seriously thick insole to make them fit.So I bought UK Size 7.The left boot is perfect - my foot isn’t sliding around inside, while there’s plenty of wriggle room for my toes. The right boot is similar - only my toes touch the inside of the toe cap as I walk - despite my big toe having 1cm of clearance to the end when standing. There is a slight difference in the profile of the toecap between the two boots.I’ve tried several different lacing patterns and tying them tighter/looser, but it still happens.

I saw a pair of these in the mall in Oxford and wanted them on sight. Didn’t think I’d see them again until the Doc Martin site showed up magically— on FB, maybe? I’m an old man but have gotten surprising compliments. The sizing is a bit tight for me, but hopefully, they’ll loosen a bit with wear. The sizing is said to be 10/11; I wear a US 10.5 D that varies up or down a bit with shoes. Online, someone commented they run large. That said, I love them.

LOVE them! I have wanted a pair of these since I was a teenager so my inner 15 year old feels amazing. Plus my 42 year old feet don’t feel too bad after a week straight of wearing them; two pairs of socks and no blisters, despite a job that requires lot of running around a school! I hadn’t bothered before because I’d had some DM shoes in a size 6 years ago that were really too big (size 5 too small). Perhaps the boots come up differently, because the size 5 is fine for me. I’m usually a size 6 for one foot, size 5 the other, so usually go for a 6.
It's been a 25 year wait for my very own pair. I absolutely love them. I've received lots of compliments on the colour. Obviously there's the initial rubbing due to breaking in, but they'll soon be like slippers. I suggest anyone getting a pair to go slightly bigger to accommodate a thin pair of socks next to skin, plus a thicker pair on top. I've had a couple of sores around the top, but no blisters. They're breaking in nicely with a good seam forming across the top of the toes. I'm using Wonder Balsalm to keep them watertight. I'm only sorry I had to wait so long to buy a pair!
I’ve always wanted a pair of these in green. I already own the cherry red and black pair. I’d always struggled breaking in docs, I’d heard about the double doc socks and purchased them at the same time. I’ve never felt such comfort before!I’m absolutely in love with my green docs, the colour is so much better in person!
Love colour and style but unsure of size feel big, so I've reordered in a smaller size because I don't want to wear 2 pairs of socks with them. Comfortable but I should have listened when I read reviews but I'll see when smaller ones come. I have tried to go to doc martins shop and other shoe shops to try sizes but no-one had them. Here's to smaller size fitting.
I have an old pair of 1461 smooth shoes size 5 and they fit me nicely, even a tad wide. Same size, 1461 boots had to be returned as they were too tight. Unfortunately I also returned size 6 , same model, as they were too big. However, I went to the dr martens shop and found 1461 Soft leather Pascal size 5 that fit me nicely. Finally!
I ordered my first pair of boots in the size that I normally wear and what was recommended on the website. Turns out, they were WAY too big because they were "UNISEX" boots and they are on a different size chart. If I had ordered a "WOMENS" boot (which was not available in this boot) it would have been a size bigger than my usual size. What the heck? In other words: UNISEX size for me would have been an 8. WOMENS size would be a 9. There was nowhere on the website that explained or mentioned this. I had to drive to a dealer that carries these boots to get all this info and on then PAY to ship back the boots that were the wrong size.On top of all of this sizing stuff, it took 2 weeks to get these wrong sized boots - a week before they even left their warehouse - and ... MoreI ordered my first pair of boots in the size that I normally wear and what was recommended on the website. I knew that it would be difficult to break these in, I was expecting that, but I loved the look so I decided to go for it anyway. However, one thing I noticed straight from trying them on was that there was a really hard and uncomfortable seam and the bottom of the tongue, which is making them really difficult to wear even to break it because it literally bruises my foot. It just feels like something that could be avoidable, as this seam is covered in all my other shoes. Honestly, for the price this was quite disappointing and also concerning as this isn’t the discomfort I expected frombreaking them in, so it’s unclear whether this will actually improve or not.
