To get the best use out of the Airwrap, style after hair after air-drying for half an hour. Divide hair into sections from bottom to top strands, and be sure to perfect your technique. This product requires a unique styling technique and will take some time to master. I always start by drying hair a bit with the dryer. After I choose one of the curling wands, usually the larger one. It has helped me hold the Airwrap above or below the hair strand (depending on the side), approximately three inches from the ends. Once the ends and midsection have grabbed onto the device and started wrapping around completely, then you can start sliding upwards. I usually use the high settings for both heat and air strength, and hold in place for around 10-20 seconds depending on how damp/wet the hair is. This picture is directly after the first time I used it, before combing through the curls. By this time, I still did not know exactly how to use it to its full potential, but was still able to get incredible results!

Then I saw this TSV and watched it practically until the 11th hour and decided to buy it for myself for Christmas to replace my regular hot iron. There is a learning curve for sure, but not a difficult one-just a consistent one. I had to unlearn the way I always did my hair because I was now using much more advanced technology that required it. What I do like is that for my thin hair, this is quick and easy. I like the curling attachments but I really have not been able to get good curls or curls that last. I still yearn for that beach wave that I can easily get using a flat iron. Not so with this Dyson. Where this product shines for me is getting that salon quality blow out with beautiful movement and volume and a sleek style that looks like I spent time ironing it flat. The style lasts all day. I can even sleep through my sleek straight hair and wake up, comb it smooth and it looks like I just styled it. Unfortunately, the curling attachments just don’t work for me. I have shoulder length hair. I have used different product to help with hold and definition. I have used the high heat and blower. I have watched countless YT videos and mimicked many of them with little to no success. I have consulted the Dyson app. So it is hard to pay that much money on something that in one respect makes my hair look salon-quality-fabulous but in another respect I still crave that traditional hot iron beach wave look that is my preferred hairstyle but am unable to achieve with this Dyson. So I guess this is a long way to say-I am still on the fence for keeping it-I am leaning that way but wow the price tag is high. If you too are on the fence-I suggest you at least try it. Just get it in your element and start working with it. Then at least you will know.

I LOVE this Dyson Airwrap. I had some reservations about purchasing it because my hair is a bit past my waist (I have a lot of hair, but it is fine), and I rarely curl it. I also rarely straighten it because I don't want to use a traditional flat iron and damage my hair. I already have a Dyson hairdryer, but because this is also a hairdryer that does much more, I decided to try it.I was immediately impressed with how well it dries my hair using the styling brush for fine hair. I can have a straight hair look in less than 8 minutes. I use the flyaways tool, and it works extremely well. It also leaves my hair healthy and shiny. Learning how to use it properly will make the results that much better!

I hesitated on this purchase, not just because of the price, but because of the reviews I saw that talked about a “steep learning curve” for this product, how hard it is to learn to use it the right way and get the results you want, how the smoothing brushes and round brush don’t work as expected, how long hair takes to style, and how curls drop within a couple of hours. These reviews put me off making such a big investment, so I opted instead for the supersonic hair dryer which got rave reviews and seemed pretty fool-proof to use. I LOVE the supersonic (reviewed separately) but couldn’t shake the idea of the Airwrap, especially as my daughter is now more often than not using my supersonic. I went ahead and purchased an Airwrap last month and it has now become my go-to. The dryer attachment dries my hair almost as fast as the supersonic. The smoothing brushes give me a soft blow out with just the right amount of body, and the round brush doesn’t tear or drag at my hair at all, just gives me a little extra curl at the ends. The 1.2 inch barrel is my go-to for more curls. I just use heat resistant hair spray, make sure to use the barrel when my hair is still at least 20 percent damp, and give each curl a good 15-20 seconds on the cool shot. I have ZERO skills when it comes to styling hair, so when I say that it took no more than 5 minutes to get the hang of this, that should mean something. Each style lasts into the next day, with minimal time required, and my hair feels soft and looks full and shiny. This morning I was in a rush to get to a meeting, and instead of just sticking my hair in a pony tail, I was able wash my hair, dry and style it with the Airwrap dryer and round brush and get out the door in 15 minutes. That is a game changer for someone like me who had basically given up on styling my hair because before the Dyson products it took me 45 minutes to blow dry with always unsatisfactory results. The only feature I can’t quite figure out how to get good results with is the flyaway functionality of the dryer, but that’s not a deal breaker. It is great to have the option of the Supersonic and the Airwrap, but the bottom line is that if I could only have one, I would choose the Airwrap - unless you really need a diffuser or have very thick hair, then I think you can rely on the hair drying attachment of the AirWrap to dry your hair almost as fast as the Supersonic. If it helps, my hair is chest length and fairly fine, prone to frizz, with a light natural curl. I can’t promise it will work as well for everyone, I just know it works for me. If it had dual voltage and I could take it overseas it would be perfect, but that’s not enough to ding it a star. It’s expensive, yes, but it can pretty much replace every hair styler and dryer you have, the attachments are so quick and easy to switch out that you can use 2 or 3 of them as you style to get exactly the look you want, and it gives great results without applying scorching heat like curlers or straighteners in a fraction of the time needed with any other tool or method. Just wish I could have afforded one years ago….
My hair is very long, fine, and curly, which results in a head full of frizz. Styling my hair had become laborious and time-consuming. I needed to use a blow dryer with two types of round brushes, a flat iron, and a curling iron. 45 minutes of drying and flat ironing, then 15 minutes of curling, I was often left a sweaty mess by the time I was done. I'd usually get 2 decent days of hair, then I was in a ponytail or bun until I washed my hair again. Then I bought the Aiwrap.I managed to dry and style my hair in under 30 minutes. I had soft bouncy hair that, honestly, looked amazing. Day 2, my hair still looked great. I didn't need any touch-ups with a curling iron. It packs away nicely in its case until it's next use. I am so happy I took a chance on this purchase. I love it!!!
I have owned the shark flex style for around 8 months and loved it. However stopped using the other attachements because they ripped my hair out/were to big. It can get HOT close to your head. Where the on swtich is would often accidentally turn off the heat as well. Also it is LOUD.Ive been using the dyson found around a month and everything I did not like about the shark is fixed! It is so much quiter - I can actually watch YouTube on my phone while doing my hair (could not with the shark). The round brush is easier for me to use, the bristles aren't as "grippy" and I do not see as much fallout in the brush. It is noticeably cooler than the shark. The controls are so much easier! The smoothing brush is better, and I love you get two size barrels and they do both sides (no swapping needed like shark). It comes with a nice storage box for everything unlike shark which came with nothing.I will say to get curls to last, and mine do found around 5 days wtih occasionally touching up the face framing pieces throughout the week. I have to use styling products. So research other reviews that you have a similar hair type and see what works best for you! With both the Shark and Dyson I get compliments on my hair all the time. Its bouncy, shiny and gives me the perfect blowout everytime. They are both solid products, I just prefer the little luxuries of the dyson more!
Due to some skin reactions to allergies, I have been having quite the time with my scalp, hair regrowth, and being susceptible to breakage all at the same time. My problem areas are a remaining color treated highlight and my front fringe. I wanted something for the winters that would allow me to more quickly dry and style my hair so I don't get breakage from freezing it outside, while also being able to blow dry and style my hair without causing more heat damage. I have A LOT of hair, but the strands are fine. It is about 1.5 inches below my collar bone and it just heavy enough where the slight wave I do have makes my hair really full, but my roots very flat when air dried.I love that I can achieve an amazing blowout look since I am not one that has been able to ... It is about 1.5 inches below my collar bone and it just heavy enough where the slight wave I do have makes my hair really full, but my roots very flat when air dried.I love that I can achieve an amazing blowout look since I am not one that has been able to master the hair dryer and round brush technique, while still being able to do something a little more low maintenance. Unless I am going to events, I don't need my hair to look perfect and I like the clean but just rolled out of bed and my hair is naturally vibing look. With this tool, I think I can achieve just about everything I need while having more control over the heat being applied to my hair than my previous tools. HOWEVER.... styling front bangs with this has been a MASSIVE learning curve and I still have to go in with my straightener when my part is being stubborn. Using a roller has really helped, but I am still finding the sweet spot with it. I would LOVE if there was a barrel that was slightly smaller than 1.2 inches as well for the shorter layers, I think it would help maintain the curl longer.Overall, I really like the product and I see myself using it often, but what you are really paying for with this product is the technology. I accepted that my curls may not last all day (though my hair is still sufficiently wavy) with this product because there is less heat being used and that is fine with me because I would rather have healthy hair than damage from trying to get it perfectly styled. The price does hurt, and that I regret a little, but I would recommend this if your expectations are realistic and align with what the product can do.
My thoughts! 1. 'Serious' investment, or don’t be hasty about it. If you feel you need a blowout after every wash, then buy it! Totally worth the investment! 2. There is a serious learning curve! Watch tutorials and practice! 3. You will need texturizing products like: kerastase / redkin or any other heat protectant, virtue flourish density booster if you have thin or fine hair, kerastase elixir ultime or the one with ogx Moroccan oil is good too. Mousse if you want your blowout and soft curls to hold. 4. Dyson is for soft blowout looks not tight curls - for those wanting pin-straight hair or curly, curly hair this isn’t for you. 5. Ok I've had the airwrap for a month. Bought it in store. I will start with I love the curl tool, that is the hero attachment for the airwrap. I found it does stay if you do a good blow dry spray/serum before hand and using a cool shot to set the curl then hairspray. It's also incredibly fast to dry so that's also in its favour & lightweight compared to a normal hairdryer. The brush blow out is not completely smooth in my opinion however my hair does look healthy after styling. My biggest disappointment was that the defuser attachment didn't come in my box which I didn't realise until a week or so after purchasing as I was focused on other styles. When contacting Dyson store the customer service person stated they were out of stock and when asking why I was sold it full price with a missing part the person I spoke to didn't seem to care and said I could just return it. I then contacted Dyson online and spoke to someone more professional who stated they'd leave a note on the system to send me out the diffuser attachment once back in stock. However I was pretty shocked at the poor service considering how ridiculously expensive this is. I thought it would fully replace my current hair kit, however I'd still need my GHDs for a super sleek look & my trusty old curling wand for really set & stay curls. (for context my hair is naturally wavy & can be frizzy when left naturally or rough dried but brow drys into style really well)So is it worth it for this price? I don't think it is. it should be at least £100 cheaper and the attachments do feel cheap considering the wand itself feels extremely high quality. Dyson need to work on their customer service and price point. I'd suggest buy to try and see how you feel but if you have the patience then sticking with the classics is good too.
One of the best purchases I have ever made- I had asked every single person I knew with thick & long hair if the Dyson air wrap styler was worth the price and every single person answered me without a second of hesitation- they all said yes! So before I even purchased this item- I knew it had to be special. Apparently special is an understatement for this product!First I’ll tell you about my hair texture. It’s extremely thick and coarse- wavy in texture and literally sometimes takes me over an hour to just blow dry my hair flat or straight followed by another hour of going over it with the hair straightener - so to spend $600 on something that would potentially save me hours - seemed like a no brainer. I also really struggle with styling my hair and can barely use ... I also really struggle with styling my hair and can barely use a curling iron- but this product makes my hair look like I got it done at the salon- every time I use it! Literally this product revolutionized hair styling in all honesty & has cut down on time SIGNIFICANTLY!So if you’re not good at styling your hair & want a tool to assist you in that department you absolute need the. Dyson air wrap! Or if you’re looking for something to manage your thick and coarse hair and significantly cut down on drying and styling time- this is the one! This tool is amazing- my only complaint would be- it needs a styling guide/booklet with all the attachments and all their multiple uses!
