This is a high quality professional grade hammer. The leather handle provides a comfortable and secure grip. The handle length provides plenty of leverage for driving nails or pulling out nails with the straight claw. Ive always wanted one of these so I got the 16 oz for finish carpentry work. The quality of Estwing should last me the rest of my life and when I pass it on to my grandson it should last him many many years.

First, my initial order was 2 hammers and a sprinkler. This Estwing hammer was missing from my order. So it's iff to a bad start. Niw, I had to notify BIC of the missing item. They sent me the Estwing hammer but the hammer definitely was not new. The face of the hammer was scuffed as having been used and part of the face appears to be sanded so that it would look new. In addition, there are three little gouges in the wrapped leather handle. Another indication that it was used before being sent to me. I decided I am not going to waste my time and effort to fix their mistake. Why should I have to run to the post office and all. If they sent me a brand new Esteing hammer with no markings on the face and no nicks in the lather handle, then it would be a good review. Nicely balanced, old school hammer. Metalwork is a bit rough, but easily finished off.
It's getting harder & harder to find quality tools that are made in the USA. And this is a beautifully crafted hammer that everyone should have in their collection.

This top-quality, American-made tool is almost too nice looking to use on the job. Its leather handle grip adds an element of class to this rugged tool. I bought it as a Christmas present for my son-in-law who is a residential construction superintendent. He has an OLD Estwing carpenter hammer with the blue cushion grip. It looks as if it has been run over several times by a D10 Caterpillar. But, it's still fully functional. It's hard to beat an Estwing American made tool.
I wanted this hammer because over 45 years ago my Uncle gave me a similar hammer, when I became an apprentice carpenter, he recently passed and I just wanted it to remember him by.
The most well balanced hammer I've ever used being a tradesman it takes the ache out of any job 1st class
