Estwing 12 oz straight claw hammer--AWESOME~!!

The 12 oz. Estwing hammer is AWESOME!! I've had my 16 oz Estwing for over 30 years and still use it all the time. But with age (mine, not the hammers!) it has become less practical for my wrist, etc. The 12 oz. is perfect, and with the same solid shaft that is so rugged that you can't destroy it and almost can't hurt it either. Both 12 and 16 are perfectly balanced and fit my hand like a glove. Having something lighter actually works better most of the time. I also like the straight claw as opposed to the curved claw--which is why I had to buy it online. Stores don't handle this. It was more expensive than the curved claw model in the store, but worth the extra money spent. Estwing is the most expensive hammer, but the quality and durability make all the difference!

Great general purpose hammer for finish work.

I’m a heavily invested hobbyist woodworker and wanted a good finishing hammer for making smaller items. This is a nice compact hammer with good balance. Great for precise work and general interior uses.

This is the older model of the Estwing 20 oz. rip hammer. I like these because the claw is thinner and better for pulling finish nails rather than the thicker newer model. Either way, both hammers are a good unit. They last forever.

I have used Estwing for 30 plus years. Only reason to buy a new one is because you lost it or a gift. This was bought as a gift. Should last a long the young man a long time.

I use this for helping a subcontractor build decks and other home building work. It is a perfect weight, reliable and sturdy, and feels good in your hands! What more do you need? If you need a hammer for everyday work, then this is the hammer you need! Plain and simple!

I used this hammer while rebuilding a split cedar fence. As mentioned, it is lighter weight than a roofing hammer (easier to carry around), but also longer. I had no problem attaching 2 inch boards with ten penny nails. Estwing is a great, high quality brand and the handle absorbs the shock of pounding on a nail so your arm does not get tired when using it. I'd recommend it for any repair work you may have planned.

Lifetime quality tool

Had my previous 20oz for 15 years before it was stolen. Replaced it with a Stanley which the head mushroomed on after very little use. Returned to CT and they were kind enough to let me pay the difference for another Estwing. Dont waste your money on the other brands , theres a reason Estwing hammers have remained unchanged for so many years. They made them right the first time.

The perfect all round hammer
2 March 2018

My wife bought me this hammer approx. 4 yrs. ago.It is very easy to use all day long, without making my wrists or arms tired and sore. The claw part of the hammer is very useful in demolition and removal of framing, baseboards and drywall. Also very well gripping those nasty little nails. This is why I'm going to purchase as many as I can at the sale price, to give them as presents to people I know that will appreciate a fine hammer as this.

While I'm not a professional carpenter I've been using hammers for 40 years for various projects like room additions and decks, forts, skate ramps etc. I just recently decided to install about 1000 sq' of new floors and baseboards along with new window and door trims and I figured it was a good time to get a new hammer as my kids and or wife are always using some of them too. I wanted my own. I paid the extra few dollars to get a Made in the USA Estwing and it's completely worth it. This is a great hammer. The look is nice. The design of the uppper neck into the head is both cool looking and practical by keeping the weight where you need it. I have fairly large hands but I appreciate the feel of his smaller diameter handle a lot. Buy it. While the differences may be subtle, a hammer is something you use so much the small differences add up to a big difference plus it'll last forever.

You will not find a better hammer than Estwing. The duriablity is unmatched. This 16 ounce has a great balance and swing for everyday use. (I also have the 22 ounce framing which is my favorite of their line-up.) I prefer the straight claw as I find it easier to pull nails in tight corners. The handle is the best in the industry; no question whatsoever. You will not get the hammer fatigue nearly as quickly using an Estwing
