Ultra-High Image Quality The lens is composed of 16 lenses in 10 groups including one super ED lens and two ED lenses, reducing chromatic aberration and achieving excellent image quality. Especially, super ED lens is used to reduces the fluctuations in chromatic aberration depend on the shooting distance. It enables to shoot minimum 1.4m close focus, maximum 0.22 x magnification ratio, and tele-macro shots with large bokeh effects. Strong Image Stabilization The lens is equipped with a powerful five-stop image stabilization function (CIPA guidelines). This allows photographers to make maximum performance of the GFX’s high image resolution even when taking telephoto shots where image shake might be obvious. Various Functions The lens’ functionality includes a focus limiter to enable faster autofocus speed by restricting focus range, focus pre-set for memorize focus settings previously set into the lens, and 4 focus control buttons located at the lens front enable to operate focus lock or autofocus. *An upgrade to the GFX50S firmware is required to operate the focus pre-set function and focus control buttons. Silent and High-Speed Autofocus The linear motor to drive the focus lenses achieves high-precision, silent, and fast autofocus operation. In addition, the lens also now includes a new mechanism for fixing the linear motor position when turning the power off or playback, allowing the focus lens to be fixed. Robust Design Appropriate for Various Tough Shooting Environments The lens barrel is made with a magnesium alloy, ensuring both robust structural integrity and a light weight. Sealing has been applied to the lens in 18 different locations for dust and weather resistance and the ability to operate at temperatures of down to -10°C. A fluorine coating is also applied to the front lens element to repel water and dirt under tough outdoor situations.

Terrific optics and image stabilization produce consistently sharp images. There is little fall off in image quality when paired with the teleconverter. The build is first rate. The lens is well balanced and surprisingly light for a lens of this focal length and format. It fits nicely in the bag. Note: the teleconverter adds some weight to the package.

This lens is wonderful and there is not anything about it which is not excellent. It is very sharp from the center to the edges from f4-f11. The lens focuses very quickly and the image stabilization gets you at least five steps. The bokeh is very nice on both sides of the focused target. The included photo shows how nice the bokeh comes out on the short side of the grizzly bear with how the flowers become such soft balls with great color. I love this lens and find no faults in it. The one detail that I do not understand pertaining to all of Fuji's lenses but why they do not make the foot have an arca swiss plate. It is very minor but that would make it even better.

This lens is amazingly sharp corner to corner. Moreover it can be used for macro in combination with the Fuji 45 lens extension tube. The nice thing about the extension tube is it maintains rapid and accurate autofocus. The lens itself gives good bokeh useful for portraits. It is well built.. a bit heavy but balances very well. The image stabilizer is superb. I debated between 4 and 5. Price brought it down to a 4 but functionally a 5.

Things went exactly as they should. The product was perfect condition and a lens that I wasn't sure I would want to keep forever. It was perfect for the occasion. I am SUPER impressed with lensrentals for having a lens that is less common. Packaging, shipping, product, transaction all went flawlessly and exactly as you would hope. I'll be back!
So you know where I'm coming from: Shot medium format film in the 80's and 90's. Loved the image quality. And because of that experience, I couldn't bring myself to buy a digital camera that was only full frame that cost more than my Mamiya 645! Not trying to start any arguments here, I think digital full frame image quality is generally better than 35mm film, but I still couldn't buy it.Finally, with the Fuji 50R, I found a price point and a cropped medium format compromise I could live with. The Fuji 32-64 and this 250 are the 2 sharpest lenses I've ever owned. The image stabilization on the 250 is fabulous. Even with the 1.4 teleconverter(sorry it's not 1.9 or 2), I have taken seemingly impossible hand held shots at 1/30th of a second. To an old film guy, that's impressive. The engine image is a straight-out-of-the-camera jpg that has been resized for upload, but look at the severe crop of the front where one can easily read where the toolbox is. This is a handheld shot with the 1.4 teleconverter on a moving train. Auto focus and OIS on, F9, 1/180, ISO 400. I can live that.
If you're considering this lens you already know the specs, it is; relatively expensive, heavy for carry use, intimidating to subjects, generally the beast described by others. So where does it fit in the toolbox? Personally, these comments will be as a comparison to my Nikon 70-200mm (G and E lenses) as they were my go to for many different shooting situations. I also found that the 180-195mm focal lengths were most commonly my favorite shots...so the Fuji is right there. Obviously as a prime, you will do the positioning and not the zoom. This lens is not really longer than the Nikons' mentioned but the dia. increase is really there and somehow brings to mind, a coffee can. This lens is not really longer than the Nikons' mentioned but the dia. increase is really there and somehow brings to mind, a coffee can. The hood is huge and quite an extension to the overall size (I'm considering adapting a shortened version). Pleasantly surprising is how extremely well this lens, with hood, gathers light! The lens being OIS, coupled with an IBIS body (GFX 100S) performs well! I've leaned on a tree or a sign post and felt that it was needed but on a tripod, certainly not an issue. The results on a RAW final image are superb! A portrait in the park renders every detail at 200 percent! The background bokeh easily separates the subject and is smooth while the focus is even/clear across the frame. I've shot this lens primarily open (f4-9 range) with crisp/sharp results and that larger format look. As for toolbox, I certainly wouldn't make this my only GFX lens but if if you have others and want the 250mm (197mm) range...this lens is superb!
I'm glad I held out for this rather than just adapt an old FF lens--it's far superior. The image is clear and sharp from corner to corner. And the OIS is amazing, far better than just IBIS alone. Focus recall is nice to come back to a static subject after hunting around--good for subjects you're waiting on. This is definitely my most favorite lens right now.
This is an amazing lens. I've been waiting for this to be in stock for months. It was definitely worth the wait! The sharpness is unreal and the focusing is pretty reliable. This lens is quite bulky and heavy, so probably won't be coming with me on backpacking trips.
It is big, very big. Almost as big as my canon 300mm 2.8L white telephoto lens. And when you add this beast to a 50s with a battery grip it becomes as big as my 1D canon body with 300mm 2.8 combo. Heavy as well, so it isn’t a travel combo. In saying that it still is possible to walk around in and take photos, just not for hours at a time.Once in action, you will forget how heavy it is as the optical & build quality is an absolute pleasure to see and feel. Images are better than the smaller format combos with high end lenses.Image stabilisation is impressive. Especially handholding, it makes it much more applicable in hand holding or monopod shoots.I own the hassle bland 210mm f4, & the combo with the 50s is the same length and only just a touch lighter, no ... MoreIt is big, very big. Autofocus is faster on the 250mm f4.Expect big everything with this lens. Big size, big weight, big quality, big optics res, big price tag. But your using a MF sensor right? So your already into big, so don’t complain....
I had originally ordered the GF100-200 f/5.6 as a longish telephoto for my GFX100S. It was light and convenient due to the zoom range. There was nothing wrong with the images it produced per se. But it didn't wow me with the image quality the 100S sensor is capable of. So I returned it and ordered the GF250mm f/4. It is a beast of a lens both in diameter and heft. Although I don't find it too unwieldy with the ergos of the 100S. Focus with the linear motor is surprisingly quick considering the mass of glass being moved around. The image stabilization, combined with the internal IS of the camera is remarkable. Hand holding at 1/30 second with good form yields pin sharp images. Describing the image quality has to go well beyond acute sharpness though. There is a ... MoreI had originally ordered the GF100-200 f/5.6 as a longish telephoto for my GFX100S. Hand holding at 1/30 second with good form yields pin sharp images. Describing the image quality has to go well beyond acute sharpness though. There is a smooth, etherial quality to the way this lens renders. It could best be compared to the way the GF110 f/2 captures an image with a compelling render that draws you into the scene. A few negatives you should consider though. The weight is not something you would want to carry around for very long. The size of it can be a little intimidating to people if you're just doing street corner photography. But to me the main issue with this lens is the foot mount. It doesn't have a Swiss/Arca milling in it. So you have to add one. That just makes it heavier and more of a handful to hold. Second, and most importantly. The rotation lock knob on the mount doubles as a release. When you loosen it and pull it outward, the lens will fall out. I've read reports of it dropping when the knob is inadvertently pulled. There is no good reason for this to be possible and I wish FUJIFILM would correct it. Especially for what this lens costs! But I have no regrets at all about buying the GF250mm otherwise!
