Purchased the Orbi due to a previously purchased Motorola gateway. Dead spot in my home, dropping internet causing me to reboot severa times a week. Put the Orbi in service and GREAT coverage with one satellite. Extremely easy to set up, activate through Xfinity - 6 minutes! Super strong signal throughout my 2100 square foot single story home. Night LAN ports to support direct connecting to my devices on both the gateway and satellite. The satellite paired in seconds. Now I have WiFi out to mailbox! Dead spots are gone. Interface on app is user friendly and offers great flexibility. Rating says supports only 800 mbps packages with Xfinity but I have a 1000mbps package and I’m getting ALL of that through my entire network most times. Great product. Unfortunately the satellite doesn’t work any better than Xfinity pod. So hopefully I can add another satellite which they are sold out of and it will improve my connectivity. Very disappointed because we switched from Xfinity basic set up to gain better coverage. I live in a 1900sq foot 2 story old home. Nothing really different as far as brick walls in the house. Meaning, there aren’t any obstructions that are any different than any standard house. Satellite is positioned in our office at the top corner of our upstairs and the adjacent bedroom internet speed on my 2024 new LG 70in is 26 mps. Silly really. Had to move satellite to just up to the top of stairs, 20 feet from modem to increase speed to bedroom. It is now +300. But office speed is now 40mps. I have been a user of Netgear products for a long time. I always choose to purchase my own modem instead of the rental fees from the internet providers in the area. Netgear has always been an easy setup and even easier platform to use. This is no different with the Orbi Mesh system. Since my install, my upload and download speeds are insane. The app is great, I consider myself a techy and I just love the ease of use. I couldn't be happier with my continued relationship with Netgear. Nothing is more important than security of my home network and I have trusted Netgear from the beginning and true to form they have rewarded me with a system that has an ease of use and reliable.

Pros:1. easy setup through Orbi mobile app2. eliminated all internet dead zones in home after placing Orbi satellite on 2nd floor.Cons:1. satellite issue - updated Modem/Router combo firmware without satellite online, and took more than hour to re-pair the two devices (factory reset cable connection manual firmware update self troubleshooting).2. satellite issue - satellite somehow stuck with default SSID and separated from the Modem/Router combo (defeats purpose of Mesh WiFi). Eventually fixed after pressing sync button a couple times restart devices.Overall, great product, follow NETGEAR's instructions and keep the devices connected during setup. Configure your settings in orbilogin.com to best fit your home's situation.
Besides higher download and upload speeds, for me it’s kind of like any other router/modem combo. I had trouble trying to get the satellite to sync at first and I had it maybe 100ft away in another room. Was irritating that it wouldn’t connect. Also, once connected, the Orbi App wouldn’t indicate it was even connected. Even though it apparently was. Like I said, it was frustrating to constantly resync - relying on the Orbi App to recognize and confirm connection - that it seemed rather unintuitive. I would prefer that the satellites remained lit (blue) to indicate a constant connection once sync’d, without the dependency of visual confirmation in the Orbi App. Not unhappy at all, now that it’s all connected and communicating to each other.
I was due for a new modem as I bought a new house that was much bigger than my previous house and the old Netgear modem I had just didn't cover enough square footage to get proper wifi throughout the home. I order the Netgear Orbi Mesh Wifi system with the built in cable modem and have been very impressed so far. There was an issue with the satellite orbi connecting the main modem and after an hour and fifteen minutes with tech support, it was finally connected and has been ever since. I now even get a strong wifi signal outside in my detached garage which was had a nonexistent signal with the previous modem, so I am a very happy customer. It did not work out of the box, it took approximately a 90 minute call with tech support to get the router modem communicating with my ISP (and the issue was not with the ISP). The Netgear tech support technician was patient, polite, professional and persistent in resolving the modem-router start up and activation with my ISP. My thanks to him!! As for the router, I’m still working to optimize the network. The Orbi App and Netgear Windows based software is not as flexible and limited in network optimization features compared to other router software Apps I’ve used to truly optimize the network devices and network bandwidth/channels. I connected the power and coaxial cable (not provided), connected via an Ethernet cable, Spectrum automatically detected the modem and asked me to sign into my online account (Spectrum's activation took about 10 minutes), scanned the QR code on the front of the modem using my phone's camera, setup a password, changed the wifi name and password to something I like, and that was that. It took a total of 13 minutes (including Spectrum's 10) to do it all start to finish.Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and experience. I'd recommend this product to anyone looking for fast, consistent, and easy internet and wifi!

I have the main router unit hooked up to my desktop on the second floor in the back of the house, and then the satellite is on the first floor up towards the front of the house.
