Cool gadget! Too small, a bit hard to clean

This is such a neat idea! Much better than a mason jar with a cap, you are able to shake and then pour immediately, and it doesn't come out too fast either!OXO totally needs to make a bigger one of these! If you have salad regularly (we have it just about every day), your dressing will get used up fairly quickly. I usually make a batch of dressing and stick it in the shaker + a mason jar, then transfer what's in the mason jar eventually. Wish there was a bigger shaker!The inner-workings of the little knob are hard to clean. If you have a good dish brush or something of that sort, it can be done. But it's a little challenging.The dressing also sticks to the pourer part where it comes out. So it needs a regular cleaning if you want it to look fresh.

Cute but spout gets messy

Very cute! However, when pouring, the spout floods and gets very gunky and messy; the dressing will stick to the round seal/disk and then flood around it. You then have to wipe it off or wash the top before storing. Def frustrating and not sanitary as is. Wish the spout design was better.

The only drawback with this shaker is that it lacks the mixing ball or stirrer that some other products have. This means that this shaker doesn't do a good job of mixing thicker dressings, like creamy dressings. You'll really have to stir them up with a whisk or a fork (or an immersion blender) if you want to get them to mix thoroughly. That's not a dealbreaker for me because I don't make a lot of creamy dressings. And I'm still going to need to use my immersion (stick) blender if I want to completely blend dressings with things like chopped shallots or herbs. For most other dressings and marinades, however, this salad shaker does a great job without any mess.

Spout design on point!

I received the OXO GG SALAD DRESSING SHAKER - BLACK a few days ago. I ordered it less than a week ago and it came promptly. I am getting married on Saturday so I was happy it came so quick and I could review it quickly.Overall, I rated it 3/5 stars. I have not been able to find any kitchen tool to make dressings in that doesn't leak and get the bottle oily. This also had the same issue. If you made the dressing and never opened the lid to adjust to taste, it probably wouldn't leak.I usually just use a jar with a lid to make dressing because it has the same issues as other salad dressing makers I have used. Love OXO products, just not this one. This is a matter of looks over practicality. I loved the overall design, which is sleek and stylish. The measurements on the container were an added plus. My opinion changed once I used it for my creamy dressing. My packet makes 2 cups of mayo-based dressing, but the container only holds 1 1/5 cups of product. When I started pouring, the dressing flows over the top portion of the lid, This happens no matter how slow I pour. Now, I have to close the lid and try to rinse off the leftover dressing before storing it in the fridge. Not ideal. Perhaps it works best with very thin dressings.. This one, though? The perfect salad dressing mixer

This is exactly the right salad dressing mixer. I've tried using old salad dressing bottles (neck too small; lid eventually reacts to the acid) and small jars (neck too large to pour). This little jar opens in the middle for mixing, and has measurement marks on the side, closes up for a good shake, then opens at the spout for pouring. The plastic is not likely to rot from the acid, and the whole jar is easily cleaned.

The measurements are listed in ounces, cups, and milliliters. The lid is tight and feels secure when shaking, it has never leaked out. What sets the OXO apart from others that I have tried is the spout. I really like that I can control the amount that comes out. Most dressing shakers just have a spout that opens and closes with no way to control the amount. With the OXO shaker the knob at the opening can open just a little to give you control over the amount. The spout has a the OXO grip to hold it in place. I haven't dropped this (and don't plan on dropping it- LOL) but I do feel the bottle is a sturdy plastic. I have small hands and this OXO shaker is the just the right size for gripping. I don't feel like it will slip out from my hands. Since it's summer and oil can go rancid, I keep my dressing in the refrigerator. With a couple of quick shakes, any congealed oil is broken down and my dressing is ready to go. I would highly recommend this salad shaker.

simple solution

I know some folks balked at the leftover dressing which clings at the pour spout. here's a remedy. let it sit open while you enjoy your salad, most of it will (due to gravity) drain back into the bottle. then wipe the (still open) spout with a little piece of paper towel. close the spout and rinse under the faucet. pop it back in the frig. yeah a little extra care but worth it to be able to regulate the flow of dressing onto my salad!
