I had to send it in to have the left eye cup repaired. They got it back to me in less than a week and it performs fantastic now. In fact, I talked to a Swarovski representative recently and he told me that the UHD Razor was within 3% of the quality of their 8X42. Not bad considering the Vortex is half the price. My wife uses the Razor Viper HD's. She likes them because they're lighter and fit her hands better.

Used mine hunting first time and they were excellent. Performed amazing in low light conditions in the morning and evening. I even compared to Swaro SLC's and truly could not tell a difference. Combine that with the slightly cheaper cost and the unconditional warranty and these are the perfect choice. If I was including the bino harness that comes with these in my review I would give them 1 Star. The case is a piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and buy the binocs and when you get home, throw the case in the trash. Excellent optics, Terrible case!

Great Bino's, very crisp & lots of light. They stack up against a pair of Swarovski 8.5 x 42 that we have. I used them extensively this past week on a camping trip. I deducted 1 star because they are fairly heavy and the harness system seems a bit cumbersome. I recommend a person test drive these vs. the HD Razor to determine if they are suitable.

Bought these before a hunt in South Texas. It’s incredible how good the quality of these binoculars are. I compared them to some Swarovski 10x42’s and the only difference I could tell is these are a little heavier.
I bought these UHDs as a substitute for some Swaro 15x56's. They are cheaper and when I compare them to my Swaro 10x42 SLCs I can not see the difference. A pro might see a difference but I do not.I wish I could have had access to some Kaibabs to see if there is a difference in the HD vs UHD glass. I decided not to wait for a comparison and just bought these. Read all great reviews. I have used these over water during my initial uses, getting a feel for them and the new tripod I bought. I will have long days looking through these during my upcoming hunts.
I have been into bird watching for several years now. I started with the Vortex Viper 8x32 binocular which suited me fine in the beginning. I then got a pair of Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42’s and was very pleased with them. But as I read more & more great reviews on the Vortex Razor 8x42 UHD specifically for birding, I recently treated myself to a pair and I absolutely love them. The color & detail are amazing and although a bit longer then my Zeiss, they are weighted in a way that are very comfortable and easy to use. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!
I have several sets of binoculars and enjoy these very much. They are large compared to smaller binoculars yet that is what you expect just like a large scope. Bigger is always better yet, if you must carry it up hills, it will be heavier. That said if you want to see better you have no choice. I can look into the trees and see animals earlier and later with these 12x50 UHD's. I also have a set of 18X Canons which are stabilized and have good glass and fairly sharp but are too heavy to carry while hunting unless you are setting and glassing. These at 12 power are almost as good because they are so clear I don't want to carry a tripod and without stabilization you just can't scan with anything over 12x all day. I can use these all day out to 300+ yards and see crisp ... MoreI have several sets of binoculars and enjoy these very much. Purchased the 18x UHD and couldn't be more pleased. The eye relief and eyecup design allow me a full view with eyeglasses, and the definition is up there with high-end rifle optics. Mounted them on a tripod and I'm amazed at what I can see. Zero regrets overall, but now I want a set of 10 x 50s because it's difficult to go back to merely above average binos.
Never thought I would ever buy Vortex binoculars but after trying these I was sold. I had a pair of Cabelas Euro's10x42 which were pretty decent but the clarity is definitely several steps above those. These are longer and thinner compared to most 10x42's so they don't feel as beefy as most. They have a real good wide view, excellent clarity in the early morning and evenings. Well worth the price but still a step below the Swarovski but price difference for thos in my mind is not worth it.
I don't think I would pay $1300 for a pair of binoculars which is what these retail for, but I was able to get them new for $695 on ebay which turned into an obscene bargain. These are amazingly lightweight, but solid and very comfortable in the hand. The focusing wheel is perfect - not too loose. Clear and sharp to the edges. My 8x42 really gathers in light and the image brightens incredibly. What looks like a gray blob in a tree becomes a Western Wood Pee-Wee. I now know what they mean about binos having "pop". Yes, they are now made in China rather than in Wisconsin. I bought these over other the European models primarily because of the lifetime no-fault warranty - I didn't want to have to ship them to Europe for repairs or be without them for any length of time. ... MoreI don't think I would pay $1300 for a pair of binoculars which is what these retail for, but I was able to get them new for $695 on ebay which turned into an obscene bargain.
