Loved the old formula (felt like it was a wonderful follow up to the ysl teint resist I used years ago that was discontinued), but couldn’t find an appropriate shade match with the old all hours foundation formula. Decided to give the new formula a go, LOVE it!!! I used the Sephora shade match and it actually picked the right shade for once (LN8)! Was worried it’s on the lighter side, but it’s blended fairly well to my neck for now and looks good in pics. I wear shade 1N in dior forever skin glow and forever for reference. I’ve missed ysl foundations so much, they really are beautiful. And the scent is nostalgic for me, obsessed with the (now) light cucumber/watermelon scent. Appreciate that it’s not as heavily fragranced as before, but still kept the same scent. It really is a beautiful luminous matte foundation, but on days I want it more matte, I mix with half a pump of dior forever. I do get oily on my t-zone, but after like 8-10 hours which I’m good with. Still looks as fresh as when I applied it by the end of a 10-12 hour wear day too. Very lightweight and pigmented, but doesn’t cover freckles well with damp sponge of course, probably need a brush for fuller coverage. I use 1.5-2 pumps. I have dry combo skin, but this doesn’t flake or dry out my skin even with a mattifying primer. Definitely repurchasing!

Sigh. It’s so hard buying foundation over the internet, but I had a previous YSL foundation that I absolutely loved. Sadly, it was discontinued and so I looked for a replacement. This is not even close to the quality of what I had before. The color I thought I needed (we need a better chart to compare to our skin tones!) was not available with Nordstrom) and the color numbers are way different than the previous product (can’t we go uniform here, so that if YSL retires one foundation, those same colors are carried over into the new product?). I had to select the one I thought would be the next closest. But even with pre-treating my skin, this product is so dry that it will settle into any lines or wrinkles one had and amplify them. There is no reflective light at all. It is flat (it’s matte I know, but come on, no moisture at all?). It makes me feel heavily made up, which I hate. So I try mixing it with serum or moisturizer before applying and that helps a little. But seriously, this stuff will dry out on the back of your hand or your face before you can even use a sponge to apply it with. You can’t do a light buildup in areas under the eyes because it won’t spread. This is not a product that works for mature skin. All in all, I feel like I paid way too much for a product from a company I count on to deliver great light reflective foundation. So now I have to start all over again.

I received this product from Influenster in exchange for my honest review.I like many others got a shade too light for my skin so I unfortunately won’t be using this a lot. Definitely go a couple shades darker than you think you are if you’re blind buying. This is a medium coverage matte foundation with SPF. great for daytime use but be weary wearing this at night if you plan on taking flash photos. That flashback is serious! Not overly drying which is usually my problem with matte foundations. Wore this to a party and it lasted all night so wear time is exceptional. Cream and liquid products are a bit harder to blend in to this foundation but try incorporating a damp sponge to reactive the foundation for smoother blending.I’m surprised Influenster/ysl gave ... MoreI received this product from Influenster in exchange for my honest review.I like many others got a shade too light for my skin so I unfortunately won’t be using this a lot. It’s matte which can be drying especially on already dry skin like my own. Add cold dry air to the mix and this foundation isn’t going to make your skin happy. If you don’t have that issue, this foundation is a winner.

I really like the formula of this foundation when I apply it more generously it gives me a more luminous or natural finish and when I apply it lightly it gives me more of a soft matte finish. However the shade range is not it. I’ve tried shades DW2 and DW4. Both of these shades have warm undertones, but they are actually quite orange to be specific. Also those two Shades are way too similar (imo). Another shade that I tried was DC1, the undertone was a bit too red for a shade that’s supposed to be cool. I then tried shade DN3 which actually is a pretty decent match for me and I ended up keeping it, However, if you look at the models provided, DN3 is represented by somebody light skin… no light skin person could ever use this as their foundation shade. I've been using the YSL All Hours foundation for almost two months and it's becoming my new favorite. It's full coverage that's buildable but still looks like skin and doesn't feel cakey. I even forgot to set it one day and was out in the Southern California sun and it still looked beautiful and barely had any oil breaking through. I wouldn't say it's transfer-proof, more transfer-resistant. I haven't tested 24-hour wear but it is long-lasting. However, as much as I love this foundation, I have an issue with there only being 12 shades that work for darker skin tones compared to 20+ more fair skin tones. Being a $60 foundation, which I believe is worth the price, not everybody can buy two shades to get the right one. Being a $60 foundation, which I believe is worth the price, not everybody can buy two shades to get the right one. I spent a decent amount of time on youtube searching for similar skin-toned people to get the right shade and managed to get close but I'm really more in between two shades. This is my first higher-end foundation and I'm impressed overall. I would probably give it closer to 4.5 stars.
I used to have the old version of this foundation and I loved it! I wanted to buy it again and found out it didn't exist anymore and was replaced with this. I looked up the shade conversation chart and bought this one during the spring sale. The consistency is pretty much the same but it's so different and not in a good way! I'm so incredibly disappointed! This version settles into every tiny pore and crevice on my skin and it's not long lasting at all. The max it's stayed on my face is 5hrs. I've tried it without primer, and with all sorts of primers. No matter what it looks terrible and just doesn't last. I'm so sad!!! I keep trying to make it work but I'm not sure I'll be able to. This is the 2nd foundation I've gotten that's been replaced by a supposedly better one/formula and it's actually been much worse. I'm convinced that when they "change the formula" it just means they're using cheaper ingredients to make more profit. I've tried so many methods to make this foundation look OK on my skin, at this point I'm sure it's just a terrible formula and I don't recommend at all.
I am so confused by all of the positive reviews….which I noticed are from Influenster, I.e. individuals who received the product for free. As a devotee of the old formulation, I am sorry to say the new leaves me baffled. It pales in comparison. Actually, I would say that there is not comparison. The former had great color matches for fair skinned ppl, I am/was a BR 30; it blended well and looked like skin, and it was indeed long lasting. This new formula has a chalky or orange tint to all of the colors that were recommended as a match to me or my former BR30 color; it sits atop the skin an definitely looks like makeup…and it broke my skin out. It is seriously frustrating that cosmetic companies feel this constant need to tamper with their products. Hate to think of the money wasted on R&D and getting this stuff to market for no or minimal gains…and in this case, at least for me, a loss. Sadly, I will be on the hunt for a new brand of fiundation

Please note that this foundation oxidizes. Before describing how my skin looked after using the foundation, I want to say that I have atopic dermatitis (eczema), an oily T-zone and cheeks, as well as sensitive skin. When I applied the foundation without any primer, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the foundation did not irritate my skin. The foundation is lightly fragranced. The fragrance is light and fresh and not bothersome at all. I also tried the foundation with gripping primers and hydrating primers. I found that the gripping primer and foundation combo did not work for me. However, the hydrating primer and foundation combo is FABULOUS. My skin felt and looked amazing with the hydrating primer and foundation combo. The foundation is a luminous foundation and dries down to a natural matte (satin) finish. I love that for a luminous foundation it was not dewy. Especially since I have oily skin. The oil absorbing pigments in the foundation really do work. So, if you have oily skin this foundation is for you. With that being said I also have enlarged pores on my cheeks and this foundation did not emphasize my pores or texture. This foundation unfortunately did not last all day for me. I was slightly hesitant to try this foundation because even though I have oily skin, I am not the biggest fan of matte foundations because they tend to sink into my huge pores… However, I was intrigued by the “luminous matte” claim of this particular foundation. Although an oxymoron, it is a smart one for those who are indecisive when it comes to foundation finishes. Upon application, this foundation is very full coverage, but not overly heavy. I applied it with a brush and it did take a little while to blend out, but it blended pretty nicely.
