I've many Dlink products, including some of the $10 cheaper, 8-port switches in plastic cases. all have glitches when used with ip-cameras, cameras turn off or freeze... I gave up.While I didn't have this in the repository for a project in the near future, I'll give it a try as it doesn't do anything anyway, and :) smooth sailing, no crashes, no freezes and fast. like a metal case. works great, it's the only one I plan to use in the future.

This product does what I bought it to do. My room mate and I have no problem connecting to the internet on our gaming consoles (Xbox 360). We were pleasantly surprised with it's speed and would recommend this to anyone who needs to split a wired connection more than two ways. As of now, there has been no drop in connection speed and we've been using it for around two months with three devices. I would however, recommend getting a high speed ethernet cable to run to the switch. It might not make that much of a difference when running two or three devices but once you're running four or five you will definitely notice.I recommend the Belkin "Premium Flat High-Speed CAT6 Cable" (Only available in seven feet) as a high speed connector. This is a no brainer. If it is on sale buy one cause you will always need the extra ports especially if you have a router/modem combo with 2 ethernet ports. It is a great way to expand your device capacity and give you flexibility to split to other devices and location.It is pretty much WYSIWYG!1. I purchased it for about half the price at the time of this review (03/24/2013), so I cannot really complain about anything other than the size of the included AC adapter. That thing is ridiculously large for the small 5-port switch they are selling. It is one of the smallest gigabit switches on the market, but I would be willing to bet the power brick is one of the largest for any desktop switch that does not have an internal power adapter. I have had no problems out of this product. It works as advertised, delivers the speeds advertised (I have tested this device using both synthetic and real-world benchmarks and am satisfied that it is giving me a max of about 105MB/s transfer speed). I have to use a wired Internet connection for work so I also use one on my own computer. Since the Xbox and TV have wired connections I needed a switch to accommodate four lines. This is literally plug & play. No messing with IP or MAC addresses, just find a spot for it, plug the AC in, put the Cat 5/6 cables in and you're online! It's so easy even a UCF or Florida State grad can do it. UGa grads probably can't.
I use this switch as a extender for running ethernet to both the TV and it's Chromecast in the living room and the router in the garage. It's works as well as you expect wired to work. We have half a gig fiber and watching the living room TV or it's Chromecast is amazing, things load so fast, it reminds me of watching things on my desktop which is wired directly into the router. Setting it up was a breeze as well: power, ethernet cable to your router, and ethernet cables to 4 other devices. If I need another extender (as I call them) I will definitely buy it again
Does exactly what its supposed to do. This is managing traffic between my PS5, Series X and my smart TV running Cat6 wire. Tested downloads and latency speeds before and after and everything is unchanged. Feels well made and has the necessary screws/anchors for wall mounting if you want it. Would absolutely buy again.

Never thought I would need to add one of these to my setup until recently when we ran into an issue with my kids downstairs computer lab was flooded from the city sewer. Kinda sucked bad but we was able to save and protect all the computers before everything was ruined. But all I had was an old 8 port from switch from 1999 which only ran at a max of 10mbps which allowed them to do school work until this came. Now it has no issues at all. Talk about lucky I held on to some old stuff for just incase times. lol... This is really a great switch. I haven't noticed any issues with it at all. I built an office in my basement and reallyyyyy didn't want to move my router or run 100ft Ethernet cords for my PC. 1 25ft Ethernet cord to this splitter, and then 1 more 25ft cord to my PC , plus this allowed me to clean up the already existing Ethernet cord I have going to my living room through the floor. Cleanest way to run Ethernet cables, did not put any sort of damper on internet speed (tested). Would highly recommend these, it gives you a lot of wiggle room to move your internet around if you're hard-wiring. $30 definitely not wasted.
