This review is for the Atomic DCF850, which wasn't a listed option. This thing is a beast with 3 torque settings. Setting 1 is for delicate applications. Setting 2 is great for everyday use. Setting 3 is for your heavy duty stuff like torquing down some lag bolts. It's very compact and light weight. If you're in the market for an impact driver at a very fair price, you should consider the Dewalt Atomic.

I actually got this driver as part of a package. I bought it only for the drill - but boy am I glad I have this! I have used this frequently to drive bolts into concrete, loosen, frozen nuts, and more. The battery life is also incredible, I love that I can swap the batteries between all my tools and they always deliver. I'm really pleased with the quality of DeWalt's tools. I've had many of my DeWalt tools for more than a decade and they still perform like new. This driver is no exception

My boyfriend owns his own construction business and the one brand of tools he has sworn by has been DeWalt, since day one. They have never let him down, they’ve always delivered when it comes to creating good quality products that last. He has bought drills that have lasted him for years and he has gotten much use out of them. The drills have sustained being dropped , used as a hammer in some instances, etc. They are the most SOLID tools on the market and we recommend them to everyone.

I love my Dewalt 20 volt impact driver. It is not to heavy for me to be able to do thi.gs around the house. Like hanging shelves or tighten some loose brackets or hanging a picture. It drives the screw in.nice and smooth and doesnt require alot of effort on.my part. It is easy to.change the bits on.the front it screws on real nice. The 20 volt gives it alot of time to.use and do not have to throw it back on the charger. All around great tool.

I lead a team of volunteers who build wheelchair ramps. I own two DeWalt DCF887B brushless compact 3-speed impact drivers. Another volunteer bought this one for himself. They're both excellent products. You should decide if you want to spend a few $tens more for the 887. It offers a brushless motor (more power, longer life, no brush replacement). It is slightly more compact, which normally is no big deal, but occasionally we have to drive screws or bolts in tight quarters where the compact one barely fits and this one doesn't. The DCF887 is also a 3-speed model. Occasionally I will switch to 1 (low speed, low torque) where I need finesse and don't want to overdrive the screw. And occasionally I use 3 when I'm driving a big hex-head lag screw into framing. Normally, ... MoreI lead a team of volunteers who build wheelchair ramps. And occasionally I use 3 when I'm driving a big hex-head lag screw into framing. Normally, 2 is the perfect setting. This model, however, has no speed settings. You control it by the trigger. The DCF887 can also be throttled by the trigger; it just comes in handy to have the additional torque/speed settings sometimes. So for a slightly lower investment, this tool is an excellent choice. If you plan to use it a lot and want it to last longer, you might want to consider buying the higher-end brushless model. Note the "B" at the end of the model number stands for "Bare" as in "Bare tool," i.e., just the driver, no battery, no charger, no case.
A great little power tool. The impact action seems to prevent the screw driver bit from bouncing out and burring the screw. It really proved it's self when I had a flat tire on my trailer and it removed the rusty lug nuts with out a hitch. Smaller, lighter and handier than my other "drills". It has become my favorite wrench. Not needing a big air compressor to run it, is truly new age.
I am a home owner that does my own repairs and hobby woodwork. My DCF855 is 3-4 yo and recently on a fence repair the clutch started to slip I had been driving 3" screws. I ended using my old trusty DCF815 12v to finish up. I am wondering what DeWalt did to the 885 to now calling it a "B" model. I it as good as the old model? Any one use both?
This is sort of a hidden jewel of DeWalt impact drivers. I have a brushless DeWalt and this one beats it. And don't just believe me. there are lots of reviews by contractors video and words that note that they prefer this one. One reason is cost when they can get them at prices about half of a brushless one on sale. another is comfort in the hand and still another is robustness as in dropping it and it just keeps going. There are also stories of the newer one providing the added value of smoke under hard use... And at 50% or less the price of the newer one (on sale), what's to argue about. This used to be the top of the line for DeWalt back in brushed days. But they still make it as the last of the brushed versions. There must be a reason... Ergonomically, I prefer ... I have looked and cannot tell why, but it feels better in the hand. And that can make a difference after a few hundred screws. I may not have the little switch for speeds, but a good finger on a variable speed and some experience makes that not terribly important. Don't hesitate on this thinking you are getting an old obsolescent product. This is an oldie but extremely goodie
I have purchased several DeWalt products in the past: corded circular saw, 20v cordless drill, screw bit set, and now the cordless impact driver - all of which performed flawlessly. And they are light-weight, durable, and easy to handle. For the occasional DIYer like myself, DeWalt power tools are ideal. The 20 volt battery makes plenty of power for just about any job. I can use the same 20v battery in both the drill AND the impact driver. That is a very convenient and money saving feature. I am very pleased with my purchase.
