A fantastic pair of Cherry Red DM shoes :)

I bought my first pair Doc Marten shoes (black) way back in 1973 - yes that's correct 1973! I bought them through my mum's catalogue with the money I earned from my paper round. They eventually arrived by snail mail back then and I just instantly fell in love with them. The smell of new leather when I opened the box and wow they were just so cool. I treasured those DM's for years, polishing them to within an inch of their life - great memories :)So last week I invested in this pair of cherry red shoes, always wanted a pair of cherry reds.... and wow they are as good or dare I say even better than the pair I bought way back in 73 :) Same smell when I opened the box too! Just got to find the correct polish to look after them - and polish these to within an inch of their lives too :DThank you Dr Martens for staying true to your original spec as these shoes are fantastic in their quality and build. You have made an "old school" fella very happy :)

Be kind to your feet! These shoes are stylish, comfortable and a good fit for my narrow, flat feet. They look more like women’s shoes than the vegan ones that I purchased where 6.5 were more like a size 7 and a little on the larger side.I got these at a bargain for £75! And am going to get the black ones next, which are full price. If you’re a DM fan, these won’t disappoint! Excellent buy, excellent value and works well with trousers, skirts, dresses etc.The one improvement would be, add the DM tag at the back like the boots.

The 1461 shoes are normally really a relief for me. One of the few types of shoes that would instantly fit like a glove. Usually size 43 would always fit, no matter what type of 1461 I would try. But these were a straight disappointment. The material is really stiff. The shoes didn't feel authentic to me. They felt more like a cheap ripp off and looked like a good 1461 copy. And therefore they are way too expensive. To me it comes across as if Dr Martens has become too popular and now they can't guarantee the quality they offered in the past, but still charge too large amounts. Especially considering the country(s) where the shoes are fabricated. Maybe I am going to try the Ambassadors but after that I am certainly done.

Doc Martens Size 9??
15 April 2024

The quality of these shies are as good as I remember 30years ago. I am still a proud owner of Doc Martens Boots (6 Holes) still very good condition and quite supple and very comfortable.Unfortunately this new pair of Shoes, I was shocked that they were Size 9 and yet so narrow! that I could not even get the front heel in the shoe, I was utterly disappointed about the fitting.I had to send them back. First I thought I should get size 10, but I did want to be left disappointed again that they are wide but probably longer in size.I am sure I wrote why I sent the shoes back, the reason.

EXPENSIVE SHOES WITH CHEAP PACKAGING
5 December 2023

I received my husband’s shoes today, a christmas gift for him. The shoes were not on sale, I paid the full price…but they arrived in a brown nordstrom shipping box, that’s it! They looked like they came from a clearance rack…where is the original Dr Martens shoe box? They were just thrown inside a big box with nothing to protect them during transit. The shoes did not have any tissue paper stuffing or tissue paper wrapping for protection. So disappointed! Well this is not the first time receiving a cheaply packaged item from Nordstrom, but a full-priced item without it’s own shoe box is a big turn-off. Not acceptable, returning tomorrow!!!

I use them for work.
30 June 2024

I use my 1461's for work. HVAC. Being summer they are cooler than the full size 1460. They required minimal break in. Got a hot spot on my heel at the top of shoe after about 4 hours. Swapped to a broken in 1460. Did this maybe 2 more times and can now wear them all day. This is my first pair of 1461. I debated not going MIE to see how l liked the cheaper ones in case they were not for me. I'm very pleased with the MIE. I am going to purchase another pair to not wear to work. I'm 50 years old and have been wearing Dr.Martens since High school. Size 10 always. Dont ever need to try them on. Always fit proper. Still love them after all these years.

Poor sizing
15 May 2024

I have been a size 9 in DMs (and other btands) since the late 1980s, so when I bought these I was disappointed to find they were way too big. I held them against my existing size 9 DMs to find they were indeed around 20mm longer.I then went to my local 25miles away DM shop to find they only held a fraction of the styles and colours, so couldn't try and buy the correct size. I established that DM shoes I'm an 8, but was then enticed by some Chelsea boots which I was advised I was a size 7! After wearing these for a few days I think they will end up on Vinted as unless they stretch around the ankle and calf but the foot is spot on.I'm amazed that a manufacturer such as DMs can get it so wrong. Quality is still great but just unusable, sorry

So, I ordered the burgundy color listed above, thinking they were burgundy NAPPA leather oxfords as per the listing that's what I thought they were. DMs are great but smooth leather is kind of tough on the feet. FYI, the burgundy color is in a SMOOTH leather. I did get a free return label and refund of the original purchase price but am not getting anywhere with customer service re: refunding the initial $9ish shipping fee-not a huge amount of money but enough, and the principal of the thing bothers me- it just feels wrong as I feel the listing was inaccurate/misleading and Dillard's so far won't take ownership for this. Been wearing Dr Martens since early 90's. Work, play beat the heck out of them. Lasted forever, eventually the soles ware down after a very long time, thats about it. Made in England! Since the early 2000's most people have been buying DM's made in Asia and "something" has changed. Most noteably the soles are cracking or seperating from the shoe. My last pair of 1925's lasted a few years until the the sole literally split in half and began seperating from the shoe itself. The leather had begun to crack and develop holes...I have never experienced this myself with Docs. I have seen the seperation happen within a few weeks with some other people. The 1461's I received had the QC sticker inside and were made in Bangladesh. The interior yellow stitching is sloppy and the exterior length of stitching gets smaller as it approaches the heal on the right shoe. Left exterior heal swoops down and the right exterior shoe swoops more upward. Both interiors do not match. The cutting was off. This may sound picky, if you are an old school DM owner you will notice. New to DM's you probably wont notice or care. This is a quality issue that just seems to be common and acceptable amongst all brands now.Overall , they are still a nice pair of Dr Martens that will hopefully last awhile. You can still buy real Docs Made in England for about $100 more if you prefer to support people working in better conditions and probably much fairer wages. Otherwise, these will do. Principles and intergrity have long passed.Remember to break them in slow, condition and polish....hopefeully the "bouncing soles" stay on." Review Sweepstakes "

These are the best shoes.
18 July 2024

These are the best shoes. I am a natural 7.5 size so i had to order the 8. I was a little worried at first because they had a different fit and feel than my other shoes, but after a day of wear that went away. The small size difference isnt even noticeable after your feet start to mold to the insole a little, The grip is perfect after that. I bought the care kit which is a first. I have blown apart a pair of boots before by not breaking them in slowly enough. That was a drag cause yea a lot of money gone. So i laid on the wonder balsam and shoe spray. This helped break them in and the finish is still so fresh. I do the treatment every 2-3 weeks. So far things are great. Hope to get another pair of boots for fall.
