I had a nice access point and an extender to cover a 3700 sq ft house with 3 levels locating the main unit in the basement. As we added networked tvs and other home security devices, we really started noticing a delay. Eero mesh with 3 units really helped. Im still working on the placement of each unit, but since 2 just need an electrical outlet it is very easy to reconfigure. I also like that I can move throughout the house without changing connection. It is very seamless. My only complaint is that the technology advances so fast, and the hardware cannot keep up. It is tough to spend $300 every couple of years just to stay up to date, so I buy last year technology and hope for the best.

The eero mesh on DAY ONE hour one made my wifi significantly slower and less efficient. No my wifi is not overloaded and I do not play video games, I also am the only person in my household. My wifi was getting 500 gigs a month and now I’m lucky if my tv can load a movie without buffering. It’s horrible and a waste of money. I do not recommend this device. It has caused a lot of frustration.

A mesh system is different from a traditional Wi-Fi router in that it uses multiple nodes or access points spread throughout your home to provide better coverage than a single router located wherever your broadband connection comes into your house. These systems aim to blanket your home in Wi-Fi signals, so you can still access the internet on your devices whether you’re down in the basement or up in a third-floor bedroom, far from your main router. In our case we have had two dead zones in our 3,000 sq.ft. home ,one on our garage/driveway area and the other on our back sunporch where I like handle most of our family business. I have been using an apple WiFi device but coverage was lacking which prompted me to try the Eero. After in home testing, the Eero looks like it works better for my intended usage so I plan on making the switch permanent. Let me elaborate:With the Eero, I can easily control access to the Internet for specific devices, which helps keep the kids off the net late at night. Whining about the Internet being down brought a smile to my face (just sayin’…) and although I don’t have a problem setting limits for usage, they don’t seem to have a problem finding ways around those limits that both impress and annoy me as I continually discover and squash the work-around. Set up for the device was a breeze (< 10 minutes) and the app works great. I subscribe to the KISS method ... Set up for the device was a breeze (< 10 minutes) and the app works great. I subscribe to the KISS method for electronics so the lack of expectations for customization is a good thing from my standpoint. I will however, need to get more units to provide whole house coverage as I have a fairly large home. I started with just a single unit so my coverage is lacking but it works well and speed is good in the expected area of coverage even with the multitude of devices that tap into the WiFi. I have yet to see a device from any company that can hit all the areas of my home without an extender or booster of some type so the lack of coverage issue is expected and not a criticism, rather just poor planning on my part.I would recommend this unit (with extenders as needed to flesh out whole home coverage) for those of you who don’t have the time, interest, motivation, knowledge or aptitude to wade through the more complex optioned devices out on the market. Unless you want or need a more nuanced and complex setup, this unit is designed with you (and me) in mind.
The mesh network is superior to range extender/repeaters, as all the units work together using only a single network name, so as you walk from room to room, your device always seeks and connects to the highest signal mesh device automatically, without dropping. On my old system, as I walked around and lost my original signal, I'd be disconnected, then have to launch the network settings, find my range extender and re-connect. No more.
Works very impressed! It really helped our home Wi-Fi. Not bleeding edge, which we dont need, but a great improvement over what the cable company provided. Hardware setup was a snap. We changed our Wi-Fi name so we had to go to each device and modify it. This took some time. I did run into a problem where they were blocking access to one of my financial sites. There is no explanation of what sites they are going to block. The blocking software is a subscription service that they want you to pay for. By default it comes activated on a 30 day free trial. It took me a couple of days to figure out what was going on and turn the blocking software off. Since then it works absolutely great!!!
Had to read a lot about all the WiFi mesh products that are available, which included all the reviews I could find. Decided to go with Eero given the overwhelming satisfaction that other people had with theirs. As others have said, the system is incredibly easy to set up. You really dont need to be a geek head to install the components to get it working, just read and follow directions, Performance is terrific, better than any other types of devices Ive tried to use to expand my signal range, strength and stability. The band steering works as promised, provides signal strength to any portable device used in the home, i.e. phones, iPads, etc. As you move around in the home itll steer that device to an Eero satellite closest to it to maintain optimum signal delivery. ... The Eero app is excellent, you can see all connected devices at a glance and the satellite its connected to along with all the information of the device. It displays each Eero and you can see how many devices are connected to each one plus all its own details. I would most assuredly recommend this system if youre on the hunt for a WiFi mesh system.
While I am the most tech-savvy member of our household that's really not saying much. Even so, setting up our Eero was fast and easy. The app walks you through each step and it only took a few minutes. With our old router, we were barely getting a signal even in the next room and almost half our home was pretty much a huge dead spot. Our signal is reaching much farther with the Eero and I like that we can add a beacon or another Eero later to farther improve coverage. The app is so user-friendly. I can see all automatic updates, check connection speeds and usage, get alerts when new devices try to join (these can be turned off), add new devices and invite guests to the network with the option to create a QR code or by messaging them a password to your guest network ... While it's not necessary you can easily rename your devices and assign them to profiles for different family members. I can see at a glance who is online, with which devices, and their current usage. If you choose to you can set schedules, for example, no wifi access on the kid's tablets or gaming systems until after XXXX time and ending at bedtime on school nights, temporarily pause access (Hello! Grounding teens?), pause service for the entire home, or heck you can even link Alexa "Alexa pause Eero for 30 minutes" for a device-free family dinner. I feel more informed and more in control of our internet usage.
Here is what I want: internet that works everywhere in my house and yard, ease of sharing the network with guests and devices, and the ability to turn off the internet to specific devices. And the mesh system of Ring’s Eero System is absolutely perfect in every way that matters to me.If you aren’t technically minded, you may fear setting this system up…let me tell you, your fears are unfounded. This is a simple a set up as I could imagine. You download the app first, and it walks you through it every step of the way, confirming at each new step that it’s correct as you move through the process. You download the app first, and it walks you through it every step of the way, confirming at each new step that it’s correct as you move through the process. For me, since my router if also my television receiver, I thought it may be complicated. Nope, just plugged the first Eero into the router and away it went, holding my hand as it connected, then helped me decide, based to choosing the configuration of my house with handy overview map presets, where to place the other two units. Now, after choosing a password for the new network I was ready to go. It really was that simple.I then went through the house, disconnecting my online devices from the original network and joining my new Eero network (either by scanning a code, or connecting through wifi in the devices interface, and each conveniently connected to the closest hub to their area.As I walk through the house or yard, my phone will change automatically to the nearest hub, allowing the fastest, surest connection. It’s super simple to share my network with friends with a specific Guest Account, that will keep them from connecting to any of my smart devices (cameras, sound systems, etc), but allow them internet access, with all the speed my family and I enjoy. Too, the passwords are easy and clear to find in the app, so I don’t have to search or struggle to share. Also, through the app I can disconnect any devices on the network, which, as a father with internet-happy kids, is a very valuable resource. I can turn off the network to specific tablets, phones, televisions, and gaming systems from the app, helping to limit my children’s activity, especially late at night and mealtimes. Too, I can help limit content and search results with profiles set for each member of my family. I love this feature!I’ve noticed that my internet speed is more consistent, faster, and stretches much further than I expected. Our yard, which is quite large, is completely covered, so streaming music outside no longer iffy, but strong and sure whether I’m mowing, or having a dinner party on the back porch. And while not affecting their performance at all, I love the look of these units. Small and unobtrusive, they have a clean, modern look that will looks fine almost anywhere (and they do suggest that the units are atop things for best performance, not hidden under shelves or in television cabinets.Obviously, I very highly recommend!!
I'm replacing an Apple Airport Extreme, which has served me very well for close to 10 years. I decided to just add a single Eero first, so I could compare the wifi coverage around my house in at my front gate, where I have a wifi doorbell. So I disconnected all wifi extenders, and walked around the corners of the house measuring wifi signal strength averages. Then I removed the Airport and added the Eero. The set up couldn't have been easier - download the app, follow the instructions and it was working within 5 minutes. I even kept my same SSID (wifi network name) and all my devices reconnected without having to manually do them all again. Then I tested again. It was better, but not significantly. This is sort of expected, they are both dual band, AC routers. However, just because of the great app, which alerts me when new devices connect, lets me create a guest network with a QR Code guests can scan to log in, the usage reports, etc., I already knew I preferred the Eero to my old router. THEN I added a second and third unit to create a mesh network. The coverage and signal strength improvement was incredible. Basically like having a strong router in every room. I've read that the limitation with the Eero is that you won't get download speeds better than 300mbps. Maybe that's an issue for you, it is not for me. And we stream all of our television and have tons of smart devices on the network. I'm extremely happy with it when combined with additional unites to make a mesh, especially at the price compared to a single router that might give me the same amount of coverage and all the additional features the app provides.
