I'm not tall. I'm 5'7" on an optimistic day. I bought this to use with a standing desk. Seeing options between a "tall" pole version and this "normal" version I thought "no way I'd need the tall size. I'm in the 25th percentile for height among U.S. adult men. I must be the regular size." I read the descriptions of the product and nothing indicated otherwise. Turns out I'm wrong and according to Ergotron I'm a towering giant in need of a tall pole. It is stable and holds the weight of the monitor well. Can be mounted both at the table edge with a clamp or straight through the table top by drilling. A minor problem was that the holders that hold cables in place on the arm don't fit very well when I needed to squeeze in a few more cables. The cables stretch a bit when the arm moves which is natural and the cables could not run in the holder. I just solved it by putting velcro around the arm so the cables can run freely instead.

I installed a 34 inch Samsung S34J55x on this arm and it works perfectly. The monitor weighs about 15 lbs. The arm allows me to position the monitor so that the viewing distance is about 18 inches. The arm extends the monitor about 22 inches from its base.This is my second successful Ergotron install. Several years ago I installed two 24 inch monitors on an Ergotron dual monitor arm. The results were excellent which led to my purchase of the LX model.

You might think that this is too much for the monitor arm and there are others who are way cheaper and perform similarly, but let me tell you this, there are no others like this one. I’ve bought 2nd one and I’ve had the 1st one for over a year. It was holding 32 inch 23pound LG monitor like it was nothing. No issue with tilt, rotate or up and down movement and I did move it a lot but still works like new one. Usually over the time monitor arms will come loose and you will find your monitor sinked, but not this guy. If you want quality, sturdy, great looking arm, this is the one to go. Rn it is holding mac studio display and it looks absolutely beautiful. Just get the money and buy this arm, there are no others that come close to Ergotron.
I wanted an extendable computer arm to turn my xp pen drawing tablet into computer monitor. The arm is excellent! It took about 20 minutes to set up - I ordered the low profile clamp. It moves well, feels secure, and the 360 angle is great for using it both as a monitor and a drawing tablet. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for the same solution.
Ordered this for my teenage daughter who is doing school from home. She's on her iPad Pro 90% of the time and I wanted to give her a larger monitor to give her eyes a break. I also wanted a monitor she could use with her MacBook Pro. Even with an extra large desk, she's always short on space with her books, papers, etc etc so we picked up a hub and a Dell monitor (24 - also from B&H) and this Ergotron arm and really could not be happier. The arm feels solid, secure, it moves well, and the adjustable mount made it fit perfectly on the extra thick desk surface. IF there was one thing I could change, the way the cable runs thru the arm is really not great - it's a bit flimsy, the cable doesn't stay secure, and it tends to bind. It's a very very minor issue. The arm moves very smoothly and stays right where I put it, which is great because the wheel has force feedback and shakes the desk some.My only quibble, and the reason for 4 stars, is that it's hidden in the details that you have to get a different size clamp for different thicknesses of desk; there's no drop-down for the different sizes of clamp when purchasing, that information is only available about 5 paragraphs into the tech specs. Fortunately, my desk was only a little too thin for the default size, so I was able to make up for it with a few folded sheets of paper. I needed an extra monitor for my 15in Macbook pro for use in music production.I had a 12 yr old Apple 20in Cinema display that was gathering dust. I purchased a HumanCentric Versa mount adapter for the Cinema and the Ergotron. Assembly was slightly complicated as the instructions are not super detailed. Once assembled the arm has completely fulfilled my needs. I can place my monitor in multiple positions, up/down, tilt, swivel side to side and importantly, raise it up, angle it parallel to the ground and push it back in between shelving. The monitor stays solidly in place however I position it & actually requires some effort to move it, which is a plus because I have no concerns about it moving suddenly/unexpectedly. The arm can be rotated a full 360 degrees if needed.
These are my first and only monitor arms I’ve ever owned. Originally wanted to get a cheap mono-post dual arm for my set up but as I researched I realized I had a bunch of variables that needed addressed in order for it to work. Naturally the price kept going up and up as I checked those boxes off. At the end of the day after contacting multiple companies this was the only one that had the solutions I required. It cost me a pretty penny because I needed two of everything including the “special “-”special” low profile clamps just to mount my screens but they seem heavy duty and of high quality and will probably be the only ones I ever need to purchase again
Before this purchase I used other monitor arms for my two large computer monitors. My husband surprised me with an additional large pen display tablet and the combination of having two (not as great) monitor arms plus a display stand on my desk was far too cluttered. I went ahead and bought this Ergotron for the pen display and it is SO nice. I can move my pen display to just the right angle and height for drawing comfort and ease and then tuck it out of the way when not in use. Very easy and smooth movement of this monitor arm, that also stays put when weight-bearing. I'm going to be replacing my other monitor arms with Ergotron ones here shortly!
