Estwing E24A 14-inch Sportsman's Axe With Leather Grip & Nylon Sheath

/Curvature patterns not desirable. Had to shave-off with my own grinder deep spurs around axe and bottom of handle. Very disappointed! Overall though, a mighty fine (Hand AXE) to have around the house! :)......Value for the money? €30 no more..

A USA Made Classic

My dad gave me one of these when I was in grade school and I still use it. Back then I didn't really know how to take care of it properly, but the quality is apparent having been used and abused all these years. In a day and age where everything is made in China, it is great to see these are still made in Rockford, IL. The only disappointment I have with the new/modern ones is that the sheath is made of a Nylon canvass material, and not the embossed leather. The leather sheath is just as much part of the classic design IMO. Otherwise, it's a classic and timeless hatchet that makes a great gift.

A beautiful and well crafted hand axe.

This axe made short work clearing small bushes and trees. Much more handy and portable than bringing out the power tools. It’s as functional as it’s beautiful. Pros: sharp, well balanced hand axe for light work. Cons: none really.

Beautiful and High Quality Axe Set!

The axe and the monogrammed sheath/belt loop are outstanding! Special gift for my brother-in-law who donated a kidney to my husband 8 years ago, he loved it! Previously bought a case for an older multi-tool and it is high quality (and you were able to recommend the specific case based on my description/specifications), so immediately thought of American Bench Craft while searching for this special gift. The turn around time was extremely fast, and good thing since my husband usually waits until the last minute to ask me to shop for something important, lol! I'd highly recommend American Bench Craft, and particularly this axe set!

Exactly what I was looking for

This camping axe is exactly what I was looking for for my summer hiking and camping trips! It is sharp, well-made, and also nice looking. I specifically wanted one where the head and the handle were a single piece of metal and this hit the mark. Only used it once to prep for a fire, but I can tell it will be used a lot!

Good as it gets!

Estwing has been around for nearly as long as I have. And for good reason. Solid American made product that simply works as hard as I do. The edge as received was good but a few minutes with my Work Smart brought it to nearly shaving sharp.

Great Hatchet-rev: from a hard working 10 year old

"Great for splitting wood, fits great on belt, and is perfect sharpness for doing around the yard stuff. The 14 in size makes it great for splitting wood. I really like that has a nice curved handle so it can be maneuvered through the wood easily. The weight is heavy enough where it doesn't make it too hard to swing and chop the wood. I have used for kindling and made some play swords out of branches."All this per my 10 year old son. He worked hard to earn the money to by this. He looked up hatchets and their reviews. This was the one for him. I love seeing him walk around the yard with it on his hip. So far no neighbors trees felled without permission-crossing my fingers.

Perfection

Just feels right in my hand. Grip shape, weight and balance perfect for me, I know from 20+ years experience with an estwing hammer that the leather grip is hands down the best out there providing you look after it. This is the older model with the thin steel washer at the base of the handle I tried a newer version estwing with the thicker washer and in my opinion they are not as comfortable to hold, which is why I searched this one out.

Sharp with great hand grip.

This hatchet was VERY sharp so am glad it comes with a cover. I liked that the back was wide enough to be used as a hammer so I eliminated the need to carry one in the pack. I liked the solid metal head and neck and hopefully under the wooden handle. The handle fit my hand well which is why I bought it.

Terrible Quality Control…

I was really excited to throw one of these into my shopping cart as they are American made and currently out of stock everywhere locally. However, upon arrival, I had noticed that there was a couple small knicks in the blade, one being very noticeable. I wasn’t too discouraged, figured I would just take it to a sharpening puck and take care of it myself, until I noticed a hairline crack running through both sides on the head of the axe! I believe the small knicks are caused from the metal grommets in the sheath it comes with as the blade of the hatchet physically rests against it when sheathed. Pretty disappointed in this product.
