I love this saw. I've got an oldish makita cordless circular and I really wanted to use tracks but it wasn't feasible to buy a makita track saw. This is just perfect, cuts great quality is far superior than what the price reflects. I will buy longer tracks as well. Corded isn't ideal but didn't really want another charger and system. Very happy with my purchase

Bought saw to replace 35 year old one to trim doors down to size. The track once set up is long enough to do just that. Allow a gap between tracks to allow them to align and adjust saw to reduce `play` and all should be well. No sign of movement of track sideways just remember to not push the saw to the left! The saw features are excellent and adjustments depth and angle are clear and precise. Only slight gripe is no provision of Allen key to adjust saw tracking! (but I have a box full of keys) Overall fantastic value for under £100.Tip .Keep underside of track free of sawdust to ensure track grips the wood.

I already have the Evolution Fury circular saw. As I had several sheets of plywood to cut for a stud wall and I was fed up faffing about with clamping a straight edge to the ply or trying to cut free hand I took the plunge and bought the Evolution 185mm saw and track. It took a couple of tries to get it set up and then I started to cut various sizes. After so much struggling the track saw makes easy work of plywood.I'm even using a single piece of track to cross-cut 4 x 3 and 3 x 2 timber carcassing.A good buy for a one-off job, but I'm sure it will get a lot of use in future projects.

First up, I would point out that the model you get is actually the CCSX, not the CCSL. The CCSX has the track etc.The saw itself has been pretty impressive. I have had thw saw for 3 days at the time of writing, and have used it to cut multiple worktops, and rip sheets of 25mm ply - all with the provided multi material blade provided. Its been very impressive. The track is a bit fiddly to set up, and its worth pointing out that you need a large amount of it hanging off the side when setting up, as the saw is not designed to plunge. It also comes without clamps which i found a bit annoying. The saw itself is well made, and feels very controllable. Would probably benefit from a proper wood blade. I would happily recommend it.
I bought the saw with the track but the small sections were basically useless because they were so short and did NOT come with the necessary clamps to hold the track in place. So I bought the extra track kit; with the additional cost of this kit, it put the cost almost as much as the Kreg kit or even the Makita track kit. The sections cause the saw to "catch" on the seams of the track. The clamps are flimsy and because of the way the tracks are joined together, the connections can make it impossible to use the clamps. I really like Evolution tools and I have bought a lot of them over the past year; I'm not going to lie, I am very disappointed with this design. It is really good quality, just really poorly designed.
I bought this after having used a higher quality rail saw at work but couldn't justify the cost st home. This is very clunky to use and does not provide accurate cuts due to the poor connection between ails and the guide system having lots of slack that you then have to take up by tightening some knobs which in turn create too much drag. There is no allowance to plunge the saw to start cutting once the depth is set, the blade can no longer be moved meaning you have to start with the rail hanging off the edge of the timber. Returned before using.
• The good bitsThe saw itself is good quality. Well designed and well made, comfortable and easy to use, with or without the track. When using the track it snugs on well and can be adjusted. All the controls are easy to use wearing gloves.• The OK bitsIf there’s one design fault it’s the depth gauge. It could do with two scales – one for use off track another for use on track. The splinter guard is far from the best on the market, but it is OK and can be replaced with better if you need to.The three part track is a bit of a faff (negative) to set up, but on the plus side I can pack it the saw, clamps and spare blades into a Tstak VI• The bad bitThe allen key for the track is of the cheap L type: small, easy to lose and slow in use. Having excelled themselves in integrating key storage for the blade into the saw, this has clearly been an afterthought. I bought a 3 mm screwdriver one and it’s cut set up/breakdown time in half and ‘find the allen key’ time to zero.• The very bad bitOne of the pieces of track is off square. I own the longer track for this saw. I kept wondering why some of my shorter cuts were ‘off’ and if the moisture content of my wood had risen and was causing blade burn / sticking. No. No that was caused by one of the pieces of track having not been cut square. It’s off enough not to need a square to identify it and off at both ends. That’s shocking lack of basic quality control.
I bought this with high hopes. My first project was ripping some soft wood. But the tool just kept burning then grinding to a halt. Admittedly I was probably making some beginners errors, but thats why I chose a project in softwood. I immediately regretted not buying a much more powerful Makita for a little more. Of course, less power means less risk of injury from kickback in the hands of a learner like me, so that is a plus I suppose! But the build quality is not what I would have expected compared to other Evolution tools. I have an Evolution Mitre Saw which has lasted me very well for many years. On this one the guide screws keep coming loose. Im struggling to find something good to say about this, and wondering why I gave it so many stars now. I may go back and ... Used this to cut a few things on a project:44mm oak worktop across the grain and also into strips along the grain. The track supplied looks poor at the joins (not all parallel), but the instructions say to leave 1-2mm gap. Seems weird at first, although the track is straight when checked despite this. For what I was doing I doubt there’s a better type of tool. The cut is straight and square. Worth reading the instructions on setting up the track and testing the adjustments on some scrap. I suspect a dedicated wood cutting blade would cut a bit easier - not that this was bad.I also cut some 2” x 1” C section steel channel that had a wall thickness up to 6mm-7mm in the corners with the multi blade supplied. Impressively quick and clean cut leaving the material cold too.Feels like it’s built to last well for diy use.Evolution make longer tracks that come with clamps which would make life a lot easier - note Screwfix don’t sell them at the moment which is a shame. Get some clamps and a wood blade if that’s what you’re cutting all the time and this would be 5 stars all round for diy use.
My first one, specifically bought to reduce the height of 5x 2360mm wardrobe units by 10mm. It’s doing a good job with a branded 36 tooth blade. I have other indoor and outdoor projects where I can see it being used in the future. My immediate issues are with Evolution for not including their dustbag and/or clamps for the tracks with this bundle, and, Screwfix for not selling dustbags at all.
