I wasn't sure if I was going to like having a fiberglass axe handle but I know Fiskars has an amazing warranty so I thought I would give it a try.I'm glad I did. The weight and feel of this axe is amazing. It has also taken a few whacks to the handle due to my mistakes and came out fine. If you're using it as part of a wilderness kit, the handle is hollow so you could always stuff it with paracord or anything else.My only gripe is the blade cover. It's nice that it comes with one in the first place and it's nice that it has a handle but it's made of a very cheap plastic and I don't trust it to last. I'd like to see a better blade protector be included in the future.

I have a few fiskars axes, hatchet, splitting and chopping. I also have more expensive axes from hulfators and while the more expensive ones show signs of quality, the cheaper budget axes from fiskars are worth every penny and more. I only bought the hatchet to use and abuse but a year and a half later I own 3 fiskars axes and all of them have gad no issues and no wear. Very impressed with the quality for the price. My hulfators is now a show piece lol

This is a really great axe for chopping wood, really well balanced with a nice length overall. Highly recommend it for chopping wood comfortably-whether a small amount or a large pile.

I had one of these for years as a "Backpacking" Axe. Yes, believe it or not I would strap it to the back of my pack. At 3 lbs its not unreasonable to carry. This purchase was a replacement for the last one my son dropped in the river he was attempting to jumping across.I would use it primarily for splitting after sawing logs to around 14-15" length and up to about 8" in diameter. It splits like a dream for how light it is, and even if your swing is a little off and you "over-swing" and hit the handle, it is virtually indestructible. It takes a real beating and no damage due to the handle's materials. The steel used for the blade seems real tough too and does not dull too quickly like some others.Depending on what your needs are, you cannot go wrong with this beauty.
I don't think it's possible to get excited over something as ordinary as an axe but you'll see what I meant the moment this beauty gets delivered to your front door. First it was carefully packaged with double layers of bubble wrap before being placed in a box. The blade lock feature ensures that you won't have any freak accident when 5he axe is not in use. The light textured handle will ensure a good grip and the sharp titanium blade is like the icing on the cake. I don't think this thing will ever need to be sharpened, ever!Good job Fiskars!
My husband already loves this axe - he has several different ones he uses regularly so he is pretty knowledgeable about them. As soon as he began to take the bubble wrap off he immediately recognized that it was from Fiskars even though I had told him nothing.He thought the blade cover and the way it works is excellent to keep safe and to keep the blade from getting dull and/or nicked up when not in use.He also complimented the handle and said it is preferable to wood because wood eventually rots. This is not a small axe but he felt the heft and weight were right for him. The blade is super sharp and ready to go immediately upon delivery.Happy chopping!
The 28" Fiskars Chopping Ax is a wonderful tool to have. I used it today to limb out some cedar and hackberry branches on my trees on the property. This tool makes my chopping easy for little pieces of kindling and small logs for my wood stove or small firepit. I like the safety blade guard which protects the blade edge and makes it safer between jobs or carrying it on the go. I also like the fact that it is balanced and has a light weight handle which makes it easier for a small person like me to use and not tire as easy as a heavier ax. I love my ax so much it makes chopping easier and is a great value. I love it!Thank you so very much Walmart!

Fiskars makes junk, I bought a Fiskars Machete 2 days ago and it broke after 3 swings out on the trail.I was only clearing tiny little branches smaller then my Pinky, this was an hour after I bought the Machete. Well the name alone " Fiskars " says it all !! this chopping or felling axe is a Beast. I ordered two of them and once again Zoro shipping was super fast had both of them in four days. The felling axe was put to work the next day and I was able to drop trees like a hot knife thur butter. I'm working my way up to 30 " Diameter trees. The axe comes razor sharp as all Fiskars product's do so be very careful. To help keep both " Tango " and " Bravo " ( yes I named them ) razor sharp cut away the outer bark before felling, Once again Zoro had a great price for a great axe.
I requested this axe as the one we have have is old and worn. Now that I have this new one I can't imagine why I didn't get a new one earlier. This are is wonderfully balanced and comes with a plastic locking cover to keep the edge safe from accidental cuts and or damaging the blade. It arrived at a great time as we live in Beverly Hills, Fl. near Crystal River where Tropical storm ETA just helped clear a few small trees. This are made quick work of the cleanup. The are is just the right size and is perfectly designed. I would recommend this to anyone thinking they will ever need an axe.
