Great small axe which I use mainly for making kindling from logs. I already had its much larger brother for splitting logs (excellent bit of kit) for a few years and realised I needed something smaller and this one was the obvious choice. Very happy with it so far after 2 months. Would recommend!

The Fiskars S X10 axe has a great design. The length is slightly longer than a traditional hatchet, with a larger axe head and heavier weight to match. Overall, I really like it and find it very useful for backpacking to bridge between a hatchet and a full-size axe.

Best axe ever

After researching small splitting axes, I kept arriving at the same conclusion. This was the one to have. It lives up to expectations, splitting small logs with ease and very little effort. If you're considering one of these just buy it. You won't be disappointed

Brilliant, well worth the money.

Got this to replace a £10 axe that was too blunt to chop. Was very glad I spend the extra money on this one. Used it for chopping firewood and hacking away at the stump of a big bush. It's really sharp and has a nice weight to it. It really made my jobs a lot easier.

Fiskars S-X 10 = big hatchet, small axe.

My son is bigger than me, so wanted something bigger than the X7 (which suits me fine). The S-X 10 fits in perfectly, and the high quality, easily visible colour, sharp edge, coated head and protective carry case make it a purchase you will be happy with, long after you've forgotten the price....or worse, lost the cheaper option because it wasn't clearly visibke at pack up time.

Great general purpose axe

The Fiskars x10 axe is a great general purpose axe. Its really sharp and makes light work of chopping up wood. It comes in a neat protective holder which protects the sharpness of the blade. Very pleased with this purchase.

It will depend on what WOOD? your are cutting,

If your wood is well seasoned/dry it will be VERY easy to split using this tool. I brought this one rather than the lighter model at 68g, i'd used that one on 10 year old oak, I didn't have to chop it. I Just showed the tool to the wood and the wood split apart, well it seemed that way! It took more time to pick up the next piece of wood than it did to split it. I feared though that i may have trouble with different wood with a tool that light. This 1Kg tool gives me just a little more power and it has performed just as well on Pine wood which has only seasoned for 18 months. I like the cover its a great idea to keep the sharp end safe and sound. Room enough to wrap the head in an oily rag to keep that edge sharp too. I can't mark this higher than 30 out of 10.

I had one of these and used it for about 15 years , When my brother in law got a wood-burner I gave it to him . Good chance to get a new one !. Very well made axe, good cutting and splitting blade. Well balanced to work holding near the blade and at the bottom of the handle where the 'hooked' shape means a secure grip .A good all round axe that compliments my X7 hatchet Very good price for a very robust, useful and versatile tool ; and years worth of use ahead.

X10 chopping axe

Seems to do the job quite well. Light handle, sharp head. Seems secure and appears to hold an edge quite well. Mainly used for firewood up to 20cm diameter

excellent axe

Excellent axe. Sharp, but not brittle, so nothing happens if you occasionally hit a stone. The handle is is also good and convenient.
