The Fujinon zoom lens offers an extreme wide angle and a high constant aperture of F4 throughout the entire zoom range. With the Fujinon “XF10-24mm F4 R OIS,” Fujifilm expands its range of XF lenses for the X-series mirrorless cameras with an extremely wide-angle zoom lens that also provides a consistent high aperture of F4 across the entire zoom range. The Fujinon XF10-24mm covers a focal length range of 10-24mm (15-36mm equivalent to full-frame) and is particularly suitable for impressive and dynamic landscape photography due to its extreme wide angle. It also excels in indoor shots in small spaces. With its constant high aperture of F4, it performs excellently in challenging lighting conditions and for handheld shooting. With the introduction of the Fujinon XF10-24mm, the available XF and XC lenses now cover a focal length range of 15-350mm (equivalent to full-frame). In total, there are eleven high-quality Fujinon XF and XC lenses available for the X-series, providing great flexibility in photography. The developed optical system includes four high-precision aspherical lenses and three ED lenses to maximize the performance of the X-Trans CMOS sensor. The effective image stabilization of the lens provides up to three stops of advantage to compensate for camera movements and avoid blurry shots. The special HT-EBC coating minimizes surface reflections. Improved resolution at all aperture settings is achieved when used with an X-series camera equipped with the Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) function.

As good or better than Sony Vario-Tessar 16-35

So far I've done just my resolution tests (ISO 12233) in the studio. I still need to do my field tests with my usual nature scene that contains a wide tonal range and lots of fine detail*. But based on the tests so far it beats out my Sony Vario-Tessar which is also f4 max aperture and has IS. Of course one still has an advantage using the A7R II because of file size but that advantage largely goes away if you're comparing to say, an A7 II body with the Vario-Tessar. Bottom line is the Fujinon XF 10-24 is better wide open at most focal lengths than the Sony V-T. However, the Sony is ever so slightly sharper in the far corners at f4 and throughout most the aperture range at 27mm (equivalent to 18mm on Fuji.) Otherwise the Fuji 10-24 is better at the other focal lengths I tested: 10mm/16mm Sony, 14mm/21mm Sony, 20mm/30mm Sony, 24mm/35mm Sony. When I say better we're talking nuances as the Sony V-T is a superb lens. Most of the differences are at the edges and in the corners where the Fuji does better. It's tough to beat the Sony/Zeiss in the center though. Nonetheless I'm very impressed with the quality of the XF 10-24mm. The only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is the lame aperture ring which has barely adequate indents/clicks. Fuji is very inconsistent with the feel of their aperture rings from lens to lens. This one is the opposite of the very definite indents and solid feeling aperture ring on their 35mm f2.0. *If you want to get my latest on the X-Pro2 and XF lenses with lots of real world examples you can sign up for my news emails via my blog XProTour dot com. I highly recommend this lens.

So when I got the Fuji 10-24 I had to do a comparison between the two. I shot a couple different landscapes with both systems and then went pixel peeping. The results? The Sigma was better, but only by a hair. Which is pretty impressive for a zoom lens. The difference is so minor that I have no qualms about switching to the Fuji 10-24.Ive also compared the Fuji 10-24 to the Rokinon 12mm f2. Excellent optical performance and solid construction
2 January 2020

I've tested my 10-24/4 Fujinon on my X-T30 outdoors (SOOC-JPEG) at my area scene that I've used testing equipment for years. It's a fantastic performer at all focal lengths, strongest between 10-18 both in terms of resolution and no or very low CA. For kicks I put it up against my Sony a7R3 (42 MP) with 12-24G. Wow, I really needed 200% on a 4K monitor to appreciate detail differences, it really was surprising close. The lens balances well on my X-T30, I have a RRS baseplate attached for my pinky. I also have the 14/2.8 Fujinon prime and I see these two lenses as complementary not exclusionary. I like primes for their other strengths like bokeh, closer focus and compact size.

Great lens, but I would have waited for weather resistance
20 November 2020

Great lens. If you're a landscape photographer, I think it's the best option for X system cameras. It has a more practical range than the 8-16mm 2.8. It's also lighter and works with screw on filters. It's only downside is that it's not weather sealed. I'd have been willing to wait/pay for that feature if I knew Fujifilm was going to come out with a weather sealed version 2 months after I bought this. The lack of weather sealing isn't a deal breaker, and hasn't caused me any issues so far. I also don't see myself selling this lens just to buy the weather sealed version. However, it would be really nice to have when shooting in the rain or by the ocean.

Great value and image quality
13 July 2021

The original version of this lens is a great value on the used market. The lens offers a useful range of focal lengths from ultra wide to normal. The image quality is superb and the zoom ring and aperture ring have just the right amount of resistance. If you carry this lens along with a telephoto and a fast prime lens you will be set for just about any photographic situation. I highly recommend this lens!

I started with an X-E3 with 18-55. I wanted a wider-angled lens to add to my already lighter weighted combo. On a trip to Spain, the 10-24 came in handy. By no means am I a pro, and this trip was simply for pleasure. We visited the small country town of Talamantes west of Zaragoza. It’s not on the top 100 places to visit in Spain, but it has a history as far back as 1117. It is surrounded by lots of hills, mountains, valleys, terraced vineyards, acres of olive and almond trees, a medieval castle atop a high hill, and plenty of old timey architecture that reminded me of WW2 movie sets. This little town’s tight narrow steep streets would not have allowed opening the doors on my pickup truck, let alone even make a turn at any corner. Front doors of all those houses were just inches away from the street’s edge. I figured that the 18-55 would not have been wide enough to fit the street and as much of the building walls into my compositions. The Fuji 10-24 was a very good lens choice for photographing more than just partial walls and the street itself. Mostly handheld, the 10-24 performed very well at both ends of the focal scale and at F4. It focused fast enough, and its aperture ring is smooth with good audible and feely clicks. Along with the X-E3 and 18-55, its compact size fit easily into my PacSafe hip/fanny pack. No back pack needed. I am glad that I chose this cool lens.

This lens has been out for a while and so there is not much that I can say which has not already been said. Like all wide angle zooms it is a tiny bit soft at the short and long ends but other than that it is outstanding. I have recently got into video and it is very good for my needs. Just a great lens alround.

This is a landscape lens primarily offering some interesting perspectives for other types of work. It gives at 10mm (15mm full frame) about as wide a view as you will generally need. 24mm is a good standard wide angle. It's sharp but noticeably that sharpness falls off at the edges at 10-14mm particularly at full aperture. It's constant f4 across zoom is helpful and I like the internal zoom mechanism which keeps the lens at a constant length. It's a bit heavy compared to the 18 - 55 but the X camera is quite light so it's only a few grams extra. A great lens for landscape. If you want a more versatile I'd go first for the 16 - 80mm it's a more general use lens.

Nice lens for the job - even nicer people!
16 August 2021

The wide-angle Fuji was needed for some interior architecture work (which I rarely do anymore). The 10-24mm range has an impressive FOV - about as wide as you go before the perspective gets weird. I liked it so much, and with the discount for the 7-day rental, I purchased the lens I had rented. Lens Rentals staff was extremely helpful. LR has the whole "find-reserve-ship-return-or purchase" process down - I don't think you could make it easier. My only regret is that I won't need to rent this lens again from such a nice, professional enterprise.
