Well I thought that the dog had to be long-haired to be able to benefit from the furminator. However, a friend told me that she had a short-haired dog and that it got a lot of loose hair. So based on that I went online and bought one. I discovered that there is a type specifically for short-haired dogs. dk if labs really qualify as short-haired. But it amazed me how much fur I got out. So from now on every time my dogs are clean I'm going to use it to get a couple of hands full of fur, so it is not always in the carpet! I love Southern AG.BTW I love my store in Owasso. Marty there is a life-saver. She is always friendly, and helpful, and kind. The rest of the staff is also wonderful, but I know her the best and love her!!!

It didn't help remove his hair at all. And this boy sheds A LOT! for a little chihuahua. I was really surprised that each stroke returned literally 3 hairs in the brush head. It was disappointing, especially considering the steep cost. His undercoat is not the thickest. Perhaps it works better with a thicker undercoat? But I figured with how much his top coat sheds, it should still help. I was mistaken.

I brought my dog to my neighbors house recently and she recommended this and even let me try hers out on my girl. I have a beagle-border collie mix and her hair is about an inch or so when I trim her. It works so well, she’s got this crazy undercoat that just never ends no matter how often I brush her with regular plastic bristle brushes. With this, it ONLY pulls out the undercoat and that is what we need, badly. After one session, she looked like she had lost a few pounds. The shedding while petting has decreased dramatically. You do have to be gentle with it and try not to do multiple passes in the same area because it’s metal head can irritate. I remedy this by brushing her every other day to give her skin a break. She doesn’t love it while it’s happening like ... MoreI brought my dog to my neighbors house recently and she recommended this and even let me try hers out on my girl. This brush makes it possible to trim her now without the clippers getting jammed with undercoat fluff. Best investment!

Both of my dogs have short hair and very sick and super soft. So i was recommended this brush to get that undercoat hair, since they seem to shed, just not like a medium to long hair dog. It almost doesn't work at all on my one dog, honestly I'd actually sat it doesn't work at all on him, and the other dog, it works a bit to get some of the hair but not like I expected. So I thought why not try it on my cat. It works great on her! Gets tons of hair and her undercoat. The little button on the handle pages up to push all the hair out the comb part so super clean and easy. The hair strips look like weird fuzzy caterpillars or something. Definitely recommended for longer hair or two laser type dog fur rather than dog like frenchies.
This is a great product, if you're wanting to cut you're pups hair. It has little razors that trims your dog's fur it doesn't actually help with the undercoat. If your looking for assistance with pulling out undercoat then look for a rake brush. If you're wanting to trim the tip coat this is great. Just be careful to not use it frequently as you could damage your dog's skin and cause them to get a sun burn if you over trim them.
I have labradors with super thick coats. In spring and fall they start to look like crap as their coats start changing for the season. My sister-in-law is a groomer and recommended this tool. We purchased it and have been using for a few years now. It was pricy for a comb but we went with it anyway. Once a week we brush our dogs and find that it really works to removes excess fur. We see a huge difference in their appearance and shed ratio. I don’t find clumps of fur all over everything and my dogs look sleek and shiny. The tool itself is sturdy, heavy, and quality, though it didn’t stop my dog from chewing it up so I recommend putting it away so you don’t have to purchase a replacement like I did. It’s been with the money and we’ve since purchased one for our cats ... MoreI have labradors with super thick coats. I have a lab that sheds half of the year! I usually use a combo of 3 types of brushes and after a hour or 2 he still looks the same! It never ends! The FURminator has changed that! It literally is the only brush that gets to the undercoat of his fur removing all of it with ease! You do need to clean the brush often, but when you see the results it's worth it. After about a hour his coat looks amazing! No dander, no two toned coat, no shedding!!!! He is soft and beautiful! Nothing has ever even come close to working this well! It is worth every penny!
We have a German Shepard and she sheds a lot. While her coat is short she does need to be brushed regularly. This brush is great for her grooming needs. It’s gets through all the layers of her coat with ease and leaves her coat feeling nice and soft. We had the older model of this version as well and the furminator has never failed us. I highly recommend this item if you’re in the market for a new dog brush.
Our Pit mix has thick undercoat. This is the first "brush" that gets it out! I really thought this was hype, and that we were destined for fur tumbleweeds year round. I tried FURminator after seeing it work on a dog with long hair, and have been amazed. It's only been a week, but I'm seeing a difference on our floor, and in his coat! Try it - you won't be disappointed.
I have a 60 pound white boxer with short fur that sticks to and in everything. It really pours off of him like a waterfall anytime someone goes in for pets. I'm honestly surprised he's not bald with the rate he loses fur. I'll admit that I rarely brush him to begin with, so I am convinced that any sort of regular brushing would have been effective in managing his fur waterfall. But, I do believe the Furminator does a great job in getting the undercoat, especially at this time of year (late spring/early summer). The Furminator has changed by brushing habits for two reasons-1. My dog seems to love it, and I can tell the daily brushings are effective. We collect less fur each day.2. It has been the only tool that has caused me to stick to a routine.Solid brush, very well built, effective for short haired dogs, the click-to-cleanout feature is great. Four stars ONLY because it does a fantastic job of loosening fur, but doesn't always remove it from my dog. I make him do zoomies around the yard to get the free floaters off.
