I used to buy Corsairs rams but they died ofter, had to RMA about every year until I purchased my first G.Skill kit back in 3/9/2012 (G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL) This set lasted 5 years, only one stick went bad, RMAd and G.Skill sent me a new set in only 1 week. After buying my first set I've never looked elsewhere. They last and customer service is awesome.

As for compatibility goes, I was quite worried it would not work on my motherboard, a MSI X470 Gaming Plus (since it was not advertised on the compatible list) but it worked just fine. I have not tested it on Intel, but have in mind this is a Ryzen optimized set. Edit on 6/12/20: A+ memory kit! 0 issues in almost two years of almost daily use for gaming. I've even managed to hit 3400MHz 16-17-17-37 speeds, stable. I'm ready to go for the second pair, amazing quality.

It does what it's supposed to and looks good doing it, I bought mine on Amazon for $188NZD brand new. Not really feeling the black on one heat spreader and grey on the other but the RGB takes your mind off it as if it isn't there. If you decide to buy it, don't use 2 different software to mess with the colors... They'll clash and you'll wind up having problems. Worth the buy though if you don't mind whipping out the money for it.

Came faulty. I isolated the problem to this ram. I plan on sending it back for a refund, and plan on trying to popular corsair RGB ram instead. Essentially, it was never stable at 3200. Or 3000. My older G skill flare (non-rgb) was. Also, the RGB software is horrendous. How do I know? Well G skill essentially doesn't have a working software. Go to the website and pretend you are about to download. They tell you it's broken and possible workarounds. No thanks. I understand this review is making me sound likle a grumpy 1 in a hundred unhappy customer, but, well, this is just the situation that I am in. It is beautiful RAM. But the software is terrible, RGB occasionally shuts off. Doesn't run stable. I am sad, because I truly was looking forward to joining the cool kid ... MoreCame faulty. Runs at advertised speeds...without effort. 3200 on Ryzen is a challenge if you don't buy B-Die. What GSkill did here was take a kit (sporting hynix modules) that would hopefully run at 2933 cl14/15 on a ryzen board, loosen the timings and tweak some exotic settings a bit, and got it to 3200 guaranteed at cl16-18-18.....which is pretty much what people spend hours doing if they didn't get B-die. They took the time to overclock it for you. It does NOT perform how b-die is capable of at 3200 with its tighter cl14 timings...this isn't benchmark queen memory by any means, nor will it perform like properly overclocked memory of the same batch on your particular board. You're simply getting a result of overclocked non-premium memory modules. The latency advantage, while very real, wasn't worth the premium for b-die at cl14 over this kit. This is a great middle-of-the-road solution for ALOT of people I'm sure.
I'm not at all interested in spending more time on trying to fix this so I am going to probably send it back and get a refund. Save yourself the headache and verify 10 times over that the memory you get will work. I made the purchase based off of 2 sources. Guess that was my mistake for being so trusting.
I've been able to run @3600mhz 18-20-20-20-42 @1.37v but that didnt really equate to a performance gain. Mine overclock slightly as well to 3333 16-18-18-38 @1.37v 3700x running @ 4.35ghz all-core 1.29vcore. MSI B450I Gaming X motherboard MSI 1070 Gaming X GPU Thermaltake Floe riing AIO
THESE ARE SPECIFICALLY AMD STICKS (advertised anyway)! Buyers make sure you are buying general ram sticks or Intel ones if that's what you need. I can't comment on how well these will work on an Intel chip and chipset. Will update in the future if needed.
Asus ROG STRIX X-370-F Gaming Ryzen 7 2700 I spent more money for these (16GTZRX) because they said "For AMD" and I didn't want any issues. I read other mixed reviews about not getting the full speed with say the 16GTZR version and Ryzen processors, and manufacturer responses saying to get the X version, also speeds are guaranteed if you buy a set of two or four at a time. Look for an overclock.net post for "DRAM Calculator for Ryzen 1.4.1" and try those settings. I input Hynix AFR, V2, Memory Rank 1, and enabled all the extra options it instructed like power down mode, gear down mode, load-line calibration for the CPU and SOC, and a few more, and it runs perfect and faster than my manual overclocking trial and error. Try the calculator and tweak from there. Your ... MoreAsus ROG STRIX X-370-F Gaming Ryzen 7 2700 I spent more money for these (16GTZRX) because they said "For AMD" and I didn't want any issues. I'm trying them at 3400 'fast' setting in the calculator with good results so far, just to get a baseline. Runs as advertised but I like to squeeze a little extra out of them!
After a lot of research on the proper DDR4 RAM for my new Ryzen build, I settled with this, timing is on point, no install issues, works perfectly. LED's synch great with the Asus software and easily over clocked in the UEFI bios. If you're building a Ryzen rig, make sure you get the RAM with the X on the end of part number, G.Skill has a whole section on their website of this stuff specifically built for these CPU's.
