I have owned this since now for about two and a half months. It makes great coffee, espresso, cappuccino and so much more. It is easy to fill and clean. The connected milk container is fabulous! The only down side and it is big is emptying the coffee pucks. You need to push both buttons in on either side and slide out the compartment. The clasps do not let go easy and since you need two hands for the clasps you don’t have one left to hold the machine from moving forward as one piece. I have learned to put my shoulder against the machine and pull very firmly. As much as I love everything else when it tells me to empty the puck container I cringe. Fix this and its excellent! Until then I could not recommend this machine.

I’ve had this machine a few months and now I’ll never go back! It’s wonderful. A few curious negatives, such as occasionally the machine alerts you that the puck bucket needs to be emptied when there are only two pucks in it.The brew group can be difficult to get out for rinsing, and replace in to the machine.I do end up microwaving my beverage for about 15 seconds after brewing, to get it nice and hot. I’d still rather put up with that than sit in a long drive through for a $5 coffee. The machine is covered in a black plastic and the edges are poorly finished. As in, thread-like plastic peels away from edges and can end up in your water (like it has mine) or bean hopper. And more milk to be poured, instead of maxing at 10oz for the latte m button. With good beans, the beverages are wonderful. Getting another milk carafe has been challenging as they are frequently out of stock for long periods of time.I’d recommend GAGGIA to a friend, with some caution to be mindful of the plastic. The other issues are minor.

Nothing but trouble from day one. Had bought an Expobar IV-R years ago and and wanted something quick and easy. After reading many reviews it seemed like a good choice. Within days this machine was giving me problems, Leaking from the side due to the tray beneath the group head not draining correctly. I contacted WLL and a link to a video was given, basically clean it out more often, I do yet it still occurs. The power button on display in the beginning was hit or miss, never turned on properly. Now it does not power on what so ever, after trouble shooting it in every way. IT does NOT power on. Just contacted WLL to see if they can replace this defective machine, its literally a few months old with issues occurring shortly after I bought it . I will update my review ... I received my Gaggia Magenta Prestige within 3 days of ordering, so that made me super happy! However, I went to set it up last night and when I opened the bean hopper door I heard something fall, thought it was a bean, went on about my business, set the whole thing up, rinsed a tank of water like recommended. When I was ready to make my first espresso shot, the screen said "Close Bean Hopper" I had already done that, to my dismay the noise I heard when opening it was the magent and the piece of plastic that was supposed to hold it in was sitting in the hole where the sensor is. The magnet had fallen into the grind area!! Luckily my husband had needle nose pliers and was able to get it out. Flawed design with the bean hopper door and it seems a little hokey that it ... The magnet had fallen into the grind area!! Luckily my husband had needle nose pliers and was able to get it out. Flawed design with the bean hopper door and it seems a little hokey that it arrived that way broken! Buyers beware, you can not make coffee if you lose this magnet. You would have to make a trip to get one at a hardware store. I quickly looked up problem solving online, and discovered this seems like a common problem. Now I have a piece of tape holding the magnet down so that I can make coffee. It would have been far worse if I got the thing to make coffee and the magnet was in the grinder!! Hmmm, do I spend the money on shipping to send it back, or keep it rigged and keep making tasty coffee. The touchscreen has me concerned that the machine may have other issues in the future, but the coffee I was finally able to make did put a smile on my face! I hope my smile lasts throughout the life of the machine, which will hopefully be years to come.
The machine works as it should however, there are a few little things that you would expect from a new machine these days. Like, the coffee puck sensor is not a sensor, but rather a counter. So if you empty the puck container prematurely, you will still get a reminder to empty the puck container even though it does not require emptying. There is a water sensor to let you know when the water is low. It would be equally as handy to have a sensor for when the beans are low & when the drip tray is full of water. The screen interface is easy to use, though it would be great if you could program your most commonly used coffees to the home screen.Small things, but really important when you are using the machine numerous times each day.
I haven't used a 'bean to cup' machine, just old fashioned coffee grinder and brew. Decision made but hesitated ages over the 'cost per cup'.Selections, adjustments and functionality are just great, personal favourite is Latte Macchiato. Why not 5-star?1. All recipe/types refer to mm but the milk container is make in almost invisible cups, I think.2. Quick Clean option goes 'off screen' too quickly. If you miss it you have to go to settings and start again.3. There's a lot of cleaning involved and if you empty the coffee puck before the auto request you get asked to empty again.4. My hands and grip are reasonably strong but taking things apart for cleaning requires far too much strength and would be impossible for someone with arthritic hands.5. Additional ... Additional purchases for cleaning and de-scaling are an added expense.6. A really 'wide brimmed' cup is required to ensure there are no milk or coffee spills when making the milk drinks. More expense.7. Had to phone support because I could not follow start up instructions. No sign of the start up message. All because there wasn't any indication that the 'screen protector cover' needs to be removed!
This was my first expresso machine coming from a drip coffee maker. I did a lot of research and was deciding between the Delognhi at Costco and the Gaggia Magenta Prestige. I chose the Gaggia because it appeared easier to use and clean. Now that I have been using it for 2 months I am very glad I bought this one. It is very easy for my non-tech wife to use it and easy for me to clean it. In particular I really like how the milk carafe only goes on one way and can be stored in the fridge.Add-ons to consider:- we bought a second carafe so the wife can do chocolate milk and I can do eggnog.- if under a countertop consider getting a roll out tray to make it easier to access beans/water.Cons:- when you make a drink with the settings you like it lets you save it over ... It's nice when you can talk to someone after trying on your own.Unknown:- I believe this machine will last but I have only had it 2 months.
I had high expectations coming from a Breville manual machine after 12 years! This machine does not disappoint. It's compact, intuitive, tastes great, and a heck of a value! But as a snob, it isn't perfect. My biggest gripe/annoyance with this machine is the inaccurate measurement values. Quantities dispersed do not match the menu set values. In any case, for a few dollars more I'd love to see a larger water tank, metal burr grinder, and a 54mm basket in the brew group. These changes would absolutely put it over the top for me! Are you listening Gaggia? DO IT! With all that said, I would not hesitate to recommend this machine. It's GREAT, not quite SUPER.
This is a decent machine. My wife and I have both gotten to a point where our drinks are dialed in, and we enjoy them. It's easy to modify temperature (haven't used this feature, really), strength (amount of coffee grinds), and volume extracted (in ounces), and the amount of steamed milk can also be varied. You won't get a latte that's as good as a manually made one, but the ease is hard to beat. I used to grind coffee directly into our gaggia classic's portafilter using our rancilio rocky burr grinder, hand tamp, and then pull shots on the classic. The results were nearly high-end barista quality. This is not that, but the flavor is good, and making a coffee is a 5 minute or less process, instead of a nearly 20 minute process. The results were nearly high-end barista quality. This is not that, but the flavor is good, and making a coffee is a 5 minute or less process, instead of a nearly 20 minute process. My biggest criticism of the magenta is a combination of two small details: the milk frother doesn't stick out far enough or at the right angle to easily drop the milk into a small cup. Furthermore, the small cup shelf can't be used in tandem with the milk frother. The milk container is in the way. This means that a small cup has to placed in a precarious position at the front edge of the machine in order to be under the stream of frothed milk, and the milk is falling from such a height that there's a ton of splatter. The best mug for this machine would be one that is tall, wide mouthed, and square in shape so you could effectively snug it up to the milk frother and espresso dispenser and avoid a mess. The addition of a small cup shelf that fits next to the milk frother would go a long way toward solving this issue. I might make my own.
This machine is very efficient in preparing a variety of drinks. I have had it only a few days. I've made an Americano three times and adjusted the coffee/water amounts to arrive at my favorite choice, and I've also made a Cappuccino and Latte and of course several double espressos of various strengths. The only "quibble" I can sight which is of NO Real Consequence is that it seems to prompt me to empty the puck bin prematurely. Better early than late. Otherwise thus far it's Flawless. The prompts on the screen are very helpful and make getting used to the machine much easier than it would be otherwise as I am a first time owner of this kind of espresso machine.
