I bought this model because another reviewer pointed out that the other models weren’t frost resistant and had to be taken indoors over winter. I checked the Gardena web site and that is correct. You need to read the Technical Specs to discover that. I didn’t think I’d need 35 metres but the extra length has come in really handy. I love it. It’s easy to withdraw, easy to lock and it retracts quickly. It is solid and secure, I’d like to see someone try and steal it. I recommend both Trade Tested and this Gardena hose reel.

Happy with this product. The rewind mechanism is very good, hope that it lasts. This replaces a similar Hozelock where the spring packed up and no longer rewound the hose after four years. The same happened to the previous Hozelock , same problem after four years.Would be useful to have a handle on top like the Hozelock so that you can store the product during winter.

Very good cost saving from buying the product from the outlet store. I had to get 2 hoses and they were both very well priced and managed to purchase both within my budget. I have put the item up and its a very good quality and doesnt leak, and the manufacturers 5 year warranty does give more confidence. The function to pull out and retract the hose works very well as it stops the hose from bunching up and getting stuck. I was recommended to get metal tap fittings as they will not start leaking when the temperature drops
Although the product seems decent enough, the fixings provided by Gardena are not capable on holding the weight of the hose box as it swings through 180° full of water. The issue is the size of the bolts (6mm) versus the raw plugs (12mm) which means there is no chance of this working. Bought to replace a different make which no longer reeled in automatically and leaked. This one seems a much better quality. I bought a slightly longer one as the old one didn't quite reach to the top of the garden or to the edge of our drive. This one pulls out much more smoothly and locks in place easily. Just give it a slight tug when finished and it rolls completely up. I have to remember to keep my fingers just under the nozzle as when it's reeling in it's quite quick and I almost trapped my finger. Very pleased with it so far. Comes with a nozzle and a couple of different size tap connectors.
