FINALLY, my senior cat is losing weight!

Fussy Fat Tortie losing weight!

I spoiled my cat fat during lockdowns She weighed in at a whopping 6.8kgs and the vet said I had to get her weight down 3kgs. She is a long haired Tortie with a very large hanging pouch so it's hard to tell how fat she had gotten. She is finicky and didn't like the Hills Diet right away, (she had always preferred seafood) - it took over a week before she started to enjoy the dry and even longer for the wet food. She prefers to eat only about 5g at a time, a few times a day and the wet food as her night dinner. When I took her back to the vet a month later she had lost 1.2kgs already! I know part of this is due to her getting more exercise (new kitten in the house) but I am very pleased with the results so far.

Our vet prescribed these for our cat to manage her weight. She has been eating these for over a year now and still shows interest. Delivery is fast as always with PetCircle and price is competitive. I just wish the larger sizes were still in stock since they are more value for money. Please re-stock soon.

Gracie’s vet prescribed this at
12 May 2021

Gracie’s vet prescribed this at 5/8 of a cup per day 12 months ago. She is an indoor cat. I attempted to give her half in the morning and half at night, but because I was working from home, every time I went to the kitchen she thought it was feed time, so I would often portion out a little bit of her remaining half. So unfortunately she hasn’t lost as much weight as I thought she would. I think she needs intermittent fasting. I’m back in the office now most days, so hopefully there will be some improvement in her weight loss. I’ve found PetPost to be great value for this product & quick delivery- no problems at all.

Helps my cat to lose weight!
4 September 2020

My cat loves food and is extremely difficult to lose weight. It seems to me that he gains weight just by breathing air and drinking water. If this sounds like your cat, then this post is for you. In the first month, I fed my cat according to the vet's suggestion, but he didn't lose any weight. Then I started to throw the kibbles on the floor one by one and my cat would chase it. My cat started out as 16.5 pounds and I fed him a bit less than half a cup throughout a day. He weighted 15 pounds after 2 months. If your cat likes this product, then letting your cat chase the food is a great way to lose weight. Remember to throw the kibbles on the floor one by one. Jury is still out, not sure it'll help
25 September 2022

I started my cat mixing this food with Costco's diet food for cats which she was using. She lost 1lb in 10 days, since then she's been fully on this diet and hasn't lost an ounce more a month after. I now added a bit of wet food because she's very hungry, since her food dispenser dispenses less than the vet prescribed in 3 feedings and 1 more feeding would be too much. I'll wait and see but so far, not happy with the cost and the results.

Kibble is much larger than expected
10 February 2023

My vet prescribed this for my two cats who need to lose a few pounds. They seem to like the flavor and will eat it, but struggle to chew it. The size of the kibble is really big compared to any other cat food I've seen. It legitimately looks like it should be for smaller dogs.

Kibble large and hard
3 February 2023

I am sure the product is good, but the kibble is so large compared to the Hill's Light, which my cat is used to eating. It is also hard. I am still mixing it in with the Hill's Light, but my cat will eat around this kibble and then finally take a few pieces it out of the bowl to eat (or kick around), or sometimes drop it in the water bowl to soften it before eating! Maybe that is why it helps with weight (?) it takes so long to eat it. After a month, I am still mixing it with the Hill's Light. I'm not giving up. I will try to get him to eat this kibble alone (Metabolic) and see what happens. Will post update.

Somehow this orange tabby became insecure regarding his food, which eventually became friskiest dry. Healthy for years, never thought to see a vet, except to do the snip at about 8 months. So, because I care, I've kept him indoors. But he's getting old, difficulty breathing, I mean he kinda snores as he just normally breathes. Took him in and collapsed lung, and other issues. I literally have interacted with this guy everyday of his entire life. No traumatic events, no injuries. How in the heck? Oh well,. Occasionally when they are real over weight, (but he is a #3 on the body shape weight management scale. #3. Overweight but just. Yes, At 30°!). So the vet says nothing to be done about the lung, it occurred some time ago. But I can give him many more years of I'm diligent about his diet. They prescribe this food. I have followed the recommendations and the vet advised 1 pound each month is ideal in weight lost for a cat. I've tried to do that, however, he is insecure about his food. If he can see the bottom of his bowl, at any time, he begins to beg. I mean even if I'm sound asleep he will meow, rub up on me, even seriously, head butt me to get my attention. He has never gone a day without food. Alright maybe I missed filling his bowl a couple of mornings before heading out to work so he had to suffer with only 1 quarter of a bowl for 8 hours.

My cat was happy to eat metabolic for 6 months but won't touch it now. I question the wisdom of these super expensive pet foods. Variety is important. Perhaps for a short time during a health crisis they do the job but my cat has rejected one costly fashionable brand after the other. And every time I end up with a big bag that cost me a fortune he won't eat.
