We have recently moved from the left and back to the east coast. Mirabella has been on Hill's Science i/d Low Fat for more than three years. While living in Nevada our 5.5 o cans arrived in pristine condition because they were packed properly. Not so when the product ships from the east coast distribution centers. The majority of the 24 cans in a tray arrived damaged beyond use. In desperation (since you cannot buy this stuff locally!) I moved to the stronger steel can that they use for the 12.5 oz can. As expected they arrived with NO damage. We much prefer the small can but simply cannot figure out why you would ship the larger steel cans with corrugated side buffers and crumpled paper to absorb shock but refuse to do so on the smaller and much more fragile 5.5 oz ... MoreWe have recently moved from the left and back to the east coast. I have been using this food for well over a year as my dog needs to use this specific food. I have been having so many issues especially lately with the consistency. This case is so watery it doesn't even look like stew. The case before it I swear made my dog sick with vomiting. Now this case the food is so water it is messing with my dogs stool. I don't understand how a prescription diet can very so much from case to case. The whole point of this food being prescription is because dogs need a consistent diet. Hill's needs to get it together and produce consistent food from batch to batch, especially for dogs with sensitive dietary needs.

My senior chihuahua had recent heart failure. During her recovery at home her tummy became very sensitive and she couldn't keep any food down. She had good appetite, but vomited daily. Our wonderful vet recommended this food. Surprisingly, my chihuahua smashed it and even went for seconds. She has not vomited since. It's also low in fat, which is recommended for heart conditions. The only downfall is that it comes in packs only. It would be great if there was an option of individual sale. 24 cans is too many for me as my chihuahua gets bored of the same food. I need to alternate with other food for sensitive tummies and then I end up with too many packs of food, especially when one can lasts me 3 days.

My last two cases of prescription canned food have been thin enough to pour into his dish. When I called chewy they promptly replaced both cases. They arrived quickly, but were the same as the original cans. The change in the consistency has caused digestive problems for my dog. He has pancreatitis to start. Which is why he takes a prescription version. The food is not anywhere near expiration. The chewy representative recorded the expiration date and the code number stamped on the can. The expiration date is not for another 2 years. He has been on this food always. The consistency just changed recently.
I've used this food for well over a year now as my dog needs a low fat food. I NEVER get a case of cans that look the same from one case to the next. Everytime I get a case that even slightly looks off or different. What do you know my dog gets sick! This is PRESCRIPTION food for dogs with GI issues. Why on earth would this food vary so much from case to case?! It's great when the food actually looks like it should. I'm really starting to think this food is doing more harm than good at this point between the quality issues and health issues it is causing my dogs. I could understand if it wasn't prescription but come on. Get it together Hill's. The can on the left is from a new case and the can on the right is how it SHOULD look.
The service, quality and followup is superior! We never expected the compassion showed to us from Chewy. Our beloved Katie our 15 year old rescue Rat Terrier was very ill thus the special food is now dead. We donated the diapers. We had Katie 14 years and cannot express our feelings. She was one of three. We lost our poodle two years ago age 13. We now have one dog left Toby a estimated 15 year old toy Yorkie. Also rescued 14 years ago. We are going to add Toby to the Chewy list later this week as we move to another RV park Thursday. We only wish we had not found Chewy earlier. Incidentally you delivered flowers Today. We will spread the word about your services to other campers we meet. Best Regards.
We had to switch to this Prescription Easily Digestible-Diet Wet Food because our guy has an angry belly, and needed to “loose weight.” We weren’t thrilled about it because we didn’t think he would like it or eat it. We started with the Turkey and he wasn’t interested, but this Chicken Stew he loves. It did make a difference in his weight initially with exercise, but recently we switched his dry food to Science Diet for seniors, he’s 11yrs. old, and has Cancer that has metastasized to his liver. His belly isn’t as upset as it used to be, he seems a lot more comfortable and it’s also helped his stools. Winner all the way around, defiantly recommend, and Chewy makes it so easy with Auto-ship!!!
Hi there,We used to feed this food exclusively to our dog with pancreatitis to mitigate her symptoms. It worked great in the past and had a "stew"-like texture where you could see the real food in it (chicken, rice, carrots). The formula (with the expiry date of 10/25) changed drastically and our dog likes the food less now. (It's more like the gelatinous texture of the Kidney RX food, for those of you who are pros at the perscription diet.) Concerned about the potential change in quality, and motivated by a little less interest by our senior dog, we asked to replace the last case we received with the regular ID. If you look at the nutritional information, its fat-to-protien ratio is really similar. It also actually looks like food, so we are just more comfortable ... MoreHi there,We used to feed this food exclusively to our dog with pancreatitis to mitigate her symptoms. If you look at the nutritional information, its fat-to-protien ratio is really similar. It also actually looks like food, so we are just more comfortable feeding her that. It motivated a "new food hunt" and I'm looking into other options that are out there. We are trying to supplement with the Weruva chicken stew to see if our dogs do well on that. It just looks so much more like "food" in a side-by-side comparison. If I can come back and add a photo of the foods next to one another tonight, I will. All of this said, our dog who is really sensitive to food overall (does not get any treats or human food because it will cause a pancreatitis flare-up) still did well eating the food, despite its new formula (you can see the nutrition information to verify and validate that there was, in fact a change in formula at Hill's.)
Our regular Hill's low fat prescription diet was out of stock. We had no choice but to buy this more expensive flavor. It was very watered down, more like soup than wet dog food. Our dog liked it for a few days then started refusing it. I ordered his regular flavor when it came back in stock. It also seems to be watered down. He no longer likes this flavor either. He is normally not a fussy eater. What happened to the Hill's Rx Diet i/d Digetive Care Wet dog food? I have no choice but to go back to our veterinarian to purchase an alternative diet from her. Very disappointed in this product.
I wish I could write a positive review unfortunately that is not the case. Once again I received damaged cans & this is far from the first time. If I was purchasing this product from a store I would NOT choose the damaged cans. I do NOT believe this is a Chewy issue but a manufacturers issue. All four damaged cans were in the middle of the case. Damage to each can is almost identical. Not only has damaged cans been an issue but the consistency of the food it self has been as well. Sometimes the food is chunky & moist, the way my dog likes it, other times it’s more pureed & dry. And let’s not forget about receiving what looks like partially filled cans. The manufacturer apparently has VERY poor quality control. Which makes you wonder about the quality of the product ... MoreI wish I could write a positive review unfortunately that is not the case. For the price that is charged for this product it really is a complete shame. If it wasn’t for the fact my vet recommended this food I wouldn’t use it.
