Drained it as soon as it rose up to the surface and while I did not add salt as per the instructions the sauce I made to coat it (which included pumpkin dip, spinach, cream and parmesan cheese) was fine without the extra added salt. I return it to the pan after draining along with the other in ingredients but only really heat it through and the short period of times in both stages were more than ample for it to cook through while still holding it's shape. They were soft and enjoyable to eat and very filling so only used half the packet for one serve with the second half back in the fridge to use next time. I would definitely buy this brand again and recommend it to others especially with the saving in price compared to my usual brand.

Do not Gnocch-it till you have tried it. Thank you so very much bunch for dropping this into my inbox As someone who enjoys all types of pasta, I was very keen to try this sample, although we have already purchased it in the past. And unlike those fresh gnocchi that you can cook and heat in a frypan, these gnocchi need to be boiled. The first issue that I encountered was that there was no easy peel tab to open the pack and peel off the protective film. So I needed to use a knife to pierce the film and then peel it off, which also caused it to rip. I find this is common with other brands of pasta packaged this way. And unfortunately the packaging is destined for landfill Upon opening the pack, I was greeted with nice floury pillows of potato gnocchi. I cooked them as per the instructions on the back of the packaging in boiling water, removed promptly once they float to the surface. Then I decided to fry them in some butter and garlic paste as an alternative to serving them with a tomato based sauce. The aroma of the butter and garlic cooking was extremely satisfying However I did find the gnocchi themselves had an aroma akin to a musty dish towel. I have a feeling that potato gnocchi may just smell like this anyway but I just thought it was worth mentioning. The gnocchi texture was slightly chewy with harder parts that were fried a bit more. The taste was delightful and very moreish. 500g was enough for 2 and a bit servings. Looking forward to enjoying some leftovers today! These gnocchi have a long shelf life of over a year and a half due to the presence of a preservative. Once the pack is opened it should be refrigerated and consumed within 3 days. An excellent price of $2 (on sale at pickup), usual price of $3. Great value Like I said, we have purchased these gnocchi before and we will most likely purchase them again.

Hmmm. I was really looking forward to trying this, although I don't have much to compare to as I've never really had fresh gnocchi; only frozen, and hospital food gnocchi First look at the pack, the expiry date is actually quite far away - interesting. The gnocchi looked lovely uniform and all the one colour. "Made in Italy" made me have high expectations. I followed the cooking instructions on the packet. Having read some other reviews now, apparently it would've been better cooked a bit longer than specified hmm I'm not sure it would have to be honest. My picture may not show it well, but once cooked, they were different shades of yellow. Guess that could have come from the potato? But then again, why aren't they all the exact same colour I made a bolognese sauce to go with it. Topped with shaved parmesan. Looked good to me!Apparently the whole pack serves 8. No way. As 2 average sized people, it served us both in one sitting!First bite; chewy, which would have been easy to ignore had a chemically and floury taste not been present, making pretty much everything about it unpleasant for me. The hubby didn't completely agree with me in terms of taste but there you go. Personally, I didn't like it and wouldn't have it again, in fact I prefer the gnocchi I had at the hospital I'll be sticking to spaghetti, spirals and penne with my pasta dishes but my husband didn't mind it, so because of that 3/5.

A versatile product. The price is very reasonable for a good sized pack. It has a long shelf life due to preservatives and additives. Instructions were easy to follow. Quick and simple. I made a bolognaise mince, added the cooked gnocchi and put a cheese sauce on top and baked. Easily fed 6 adults. The gnocchi is a lot firmer then soft freshly made gnocchi, but that’s expected due to added preservatives. Sadly it’s not Australian potatoes used to make the gnocchi, plus there are lots of ingredients including flavours, no idea what, which is not necessary. If fresh gnocchi isn’t available I may buy these.

Passable gnocchi. Nothing beats good quality gnocchi, it’s like eating little pillows of happiness smothered in your favourite sauce. This isn’t that gnocchi, but it’s certainly a better version than some of the shelf stable gnocchi packets out there. Packaging is pretty, like the rest of the range of La Molisana pasta. It is made in Italy and is priced well at $3 for the 500g pack. This gnocchi was made up of water, dehydrated potato, emulsifiers (471), antioxidant (223), natural flavours, potato starch, rice flour, salt, acidity regulator (270), preservatives (200), flavours. As you can see there are lots of numbers! The gnocchi was stuck together in the packaging, but cooked up well and was ready when it floated to the top. The texture was surprisingly good, not as soft and fluffy as homemade, but ok. Taste and smell, there was something unusual that I just couldn’t place, something a little artificial. It was ok, but I wouldn’t buy it again, just doesn’t compare to the real deal.

Nummy gnocchi! We had this sample last night as a base for our devilled sausages. The gnocchi cooked up quickly and easily (as you would expect) and tasted as good as any others that I have tried. The texture / consistency was pleasing - not 'tacky' or 'sticky' as some can be. It also looked good on the plate - a slight yellow tint to it, which made it look somewhat more appealing than some other versions (which can take on a grey hue after cooking). The individual pieces were a good size and held a sauce well, which is definitely something I appreciate in this type of product. The product was easy to find - amidst the dry pastas in the pasta aisle (go figure!). The packaging doesn't exactly stand out but this might have more to do with the bold red of the San Remo products surrounding it. There was a good length of time before the use-by-date, which is always reassuring, and the product inside was in great condition (not stuck together or 'claggy' as some gnocchis in the dry pasta section can be). The packaging was easy to handle / open but the instructions / ingredients etc on the back is in quite small writing (probably not an issue for the younger consumer but definitely required glasses for us 'older eaters'). My biggest issue with this product is it's international origin. I would much prefer to buy an Australian product. So, overall, we were quite happy with the gnocchi itself but I will probably return to my regular choice which has a greater Aussie component to it. Thanks Bunch for the chance to try a 'true blue' version though.

As good as any store bought option. Now, don't get me wrong, I will always advocate for home made gnocchi (even though I don't make it myself!) so I am not reviewing this based on a deliciously plump, light, freshly made option. I am instead, reviewing this product in comparison to other store bought offerings. Which I have bought before. A sacrilege to my Italian heritage I know. Found in the pasta aisle, this product is another offering from the La Molisana range and is easy to locate. I was surprised to discover the packet doesn't 'peel' open and I needed a knife to open it. Definitely on par with any other brand of store bought gnocchi. There's no denying that a long life, self gnocchi is never going to be as nice as a freshly made one, but I would recommend this for baking. It is economical, convenient and I would buy it again.
