They didn't know the difference :). I was somewhat hesitant to pick up this lovely pack of pasta from Woolies, concerned that the neighbours may think I was trying to poison the kids. The mere mention, let alone serving up, of anything even vaguely considered wholewheat often results in the children enacting iconic scenes from The Exorcist ... you know the ones I mean .... the head spinning around ... etcSo, with that in mind, I cleared the kitchen, cooked the bolognaise sauce to go with the pasta and cooked the spaghetti whilst children were distracted, Instead of serving up at the table, the meals came to the table already served, with a nice sprinkle of parmesan cheese on top. Rather liked it. Who cares if it is good for you - I just liked the taste and texture. Invariably the word wholemeal makes me run a mile but of course being a sample I was willing to give it a go. Ignoring completely the wholemeal aspect, I did enjoy the taste as much as “ordinary” pasta. Of late I have been trying to chew my food numerous times instead of gulping it down so that combined with the more filling aspect was good on a couple of fronts. I got the timing a bit wrong – which is not unusual for me – so cooked it for a few minutes longer. My simplistic recipe of pasta, salmon, some greenery (snowpeas) and cracked pepper was used. There was a bit of a problem in trying to redeem my sample so ended up paying for the product. I chatted to the customer service representative who gave me a refund, which was very much appreciated even though the outlay was small at two dollars. The thought definitely counted. I went back a couple of days after the initial problem and was able to claim the sample so I ended up with two packets which will be used and replaced in future. I caught up with the customer service representative again and explained that I had been able to redeem my sample second time and she said consider the initial return as being a gift.

I really enjoyed the aldente bite to this linguine. I think that because it is made of wholewheat, it is a bit tougher and chewier than regular pasta. I think wholewheat pasta will be a a staple in my pantry from now on. This brand of pasta is way better than Woolworth's pastas, so I will gladly buy this in the future.

Worked well. I used this wholemeal spaghetti in a dish where usually linguine is used. There was no sauce as such, but olive oil, toasted pine nuts & lightly dried chopped basil were added. The result? Yes, it was enjoyed and this wholemeal spaghetti will be used again especially as it provides extra fibre intake & is at a mid price point. But there were a couple of things I did find could be improved with the packaging even though I liked its overall look. Firstly, I found the product details, instructions etc much harder to read at night under the kitchen light & had to resort to using a magnifying glass. And secondly, the cooking instructions did not give any indication on how long it would take to cook this pasta & so I googled this for wholemeal pasta (times ... MoreWorked well. Delicious and healthy too! I was pleasantly surprised when trying this wholewheat spaghetti variety as I do not normally purchase wholemeal pasta as those I have tried in the past are a bit on the 'blah' side. This product was delicious and nutty and went really well with my bolognaise sauce. I will have to try it with a creamy sauce too as I am sure it will add a lovely depth of flavour to the whole dish. I loved this product so much I have just bought the wholewheat linguine variety this week when it was on special for half price! I had to really try hard to find anything that could be improved in the product but if I had to comment on a feature with room for improvement, it would be the writing/ diagrams on the back of the packaging. It was extremely difficult to read or see the diagrams clearly. Whilst I love the natural look it is showing a suggestion could be to have the writing in cream or white against the darkness of the wholewheat packaging style. The packaging for the white pasta varieties (blue packets) are a lot easier to read.

Delicious nutty flavour, perfect al dente pasta. In the past I have found wholewheat pasta to be unpleasant, however this was delicious, and got a resounding thumbs up, even from the fussy eaters in my family (that's you Hubby and Miss 5!). The product was easy to locate in the pasta aisle, and the packaging looked rustic and authentic. For me, the size of the writing and cooking intsructions were fine, although I can imagine there would be plenty out there who wouldn't be able to read the words. The wholeweat composition gave the pasta a lovely, almost nutty, flavour, much like when you bake with wholemeal flour. This flavour really complemented the fresh tomato and basil sauce I made. The price does seem a little high for me, however, you are paying for a wholewheat, premium product, and I must say I have already bought some of the other pastas in this range to try. Heck, if I can get my whole family to eat a meal without complaining, I will happily pay a little extra! While I normally always try to choose Aussie ingredients and Aussie made, I actually don't mind that this is made in Italy, from Italian wheat... it is pasta, after all.

Much better texture than other wholemeal spaghetti. I have tried alternative brands of wholemeal spaghetti and they were gritty, thick and didn't soften well when cooked - so much so that my partner refuses to eat wholemeal spaghetti any more. This wholemeal pasta is different. I was making a pesto-mushroom-zucchini spaghetti tonight, and he strolled into the kitchen to help me grate the zucchini (I'm prone to grating my knuckles). He was deeply suspicious at the sight of the brown packet, and I was worried I'd have rebellion on my hands. Fortunately, this wholemeal pasta has a good texture - while it's still a bit firmer than a plain pasta, it definitely softens well with cooking and if you were not aware it was wholemeal you might be able to pass it off as not. ... MoreMuch better texture than other wholemeal spaghetti. The flavour was also good, and the spaghetti was nice and thin. My partner ate it up happily and reported he was so full that there wasn't mushroom for dessert!Unfortunately, the packet doesn't list cooking time (we cooked for 15 minutes and in retrospect probably could have given it a further minute or two), which would be welcome. Also, this product is unfortunately not Australian made or Australian grown. We do have excellent Australian grown wheat and I'd prefer to eat something locally made. It's a little bit more expensive than other pasta I'd normally buy as well. Overall, this is a really good product and I'd buy it again if I wanted a wholemeal spaghetti - but for general use I will stick to Australian made pasta.

Premium pasta, pity about the packaging. This spaghetti comes from the La Molise region of Italy. The lettering on the packaging is very difficult to read as it is written in black against a dark brown background. The packaging is also punctured with pinholes along its length (see line of tiny white holes in photo) which is a bad idea as it is then not fully sealed and I later found a small weevil-looking insect on the packaging which I have not seen at home before. The spaghetti cooked easily and had the fuller flavour and texture of whole wheat. Sample Tester enjoyed it with a tomato and mushroom sauce. Price is $3 for 500g which is a bit more expensive than other spaghetti but may be worth it for the quality.
