Decent monitor if you know what to expect

I bought two of these for a remote work setup. These are okay monitors for the price. The build quality feels a bit cheap, but for this price that's not unexpected. The viewing angle is great, as you would expect from an IPS panel. The settings are all controlled with one little nub underneath the center of the screen. It's like a little joystick. It super simple to use. I didn't use the adjustable height stands for very long before going to a dual monitor stand but the height adjustment and tilt worked well. They're not the most solid though. They are a little wobbly since the base is pretty narrow compared to the size of the monitor. For anyone wondering: I was hoping the adjustable height would go high enough that I could mount one of the screens in portrait mode ... MoreI bought two of these for a remote work setup. You can do it but the bottom of the screen will be touching the top of the stand so the monitor is permanently tilted up. Oh well, worth a try. I wish I had gotten two 24" monitors instead, as these are almost too big to have them side by side on my desk. And since they're FHD and not QHD, the extra space isn't really useful. Live and learn I guess. If you're just looking for a no frill monitor for a decent price this is great. If it weren't for the wobbly stands I'd give these 5 stars.

This is an attention to detail that shows just how much thought was put into the design of this display. Ports galore! Thunderbolt 4 for the display, and if your device supports it there's a 2nd Thunderbolt port that will allow you to daisy chain a second display, DisplayPort, 2 HDMI ports. There are 2 USB Ports that are on the right side of the display (another attention to detail that I appreciate). The refresh rate is 72Hz (a bit better than the 60Hz on most monitors), Color is spot on. I work from home and this is my everything display! Plenty of room for spreadsheets, 300nits of brightness for photo editing and a wide screen movie fits the screen beautifully with the 21:9 aspect ratio. I think the price point is really a good bargain for everything that you get in this display.

I’m very satisfied with the LG Monitor and the performance thus far. I would point out to you that there are no internal speakers but that is ok as for I’m using my soundbar. Also please note that I wished that the menu options were a little more user friendly, it takes a while to go through all the options and if you hit the wrong button you have to start all over.

Great monitor so far

I was looking at 34 Ultra Wide displays to go with my new MacBook Air, largely on recommendation of a relative who uses one. After reviewing way too many YouTube videos, I settled on this monitor--I wanted maximal screen real estate. I was coming from a retina display on my old 17 PC, which was fabulous, if a smidgen small. So you can imagine adapting to a 38 took a while. HINT: You will want a window manager (I use Amethyst)--it's really hard to make efficient use of the screen real estate otherwise. It also took me about a week getting used to a non-retina display, but I no longer notice. I am glad in many ways since audio plug-ins on the PC were a mess on retina displays... now I'm no longer dealing with that issue. I am glad in many ways since audio plug-ins on the PC were a mess on retina displays... now I'm no longer dealing with that issue. The 38 screen is a bit wider than is probably ideal for me, so definitely consider 34 displays as well, although this is also a function of how close or far away you can place the monitor (mine is a bit closer due to eyesight issues). I'm using the 100mm VESA mount for use on my monitor arm--works no problems. I haven't put the built-in Thunderbolt 3 hub through its paces, mainly because I already had a T3 hub (into which this monitor is plugged). Nor do I use the monitor speakers. The display is plenty bright for my office (which is airy buy not overly sunny). Summary: Coding, note taking while browsing, and using software with a timeline is a dream on this thing (audio editing, video editing, sheet music).

LG’s 38” UltraWide Monitor Great for a Home Office
7 September 2022

I recently purchased the brand-new LG 38” Curved UltraWide monitor with an ergonomic stand to use in my home office environment. When I was deciding on which monitor would be the best fit for my situation, I was immediately drawn to this IPS display because of the features I wanted the most. It was labeled as having an ergonomic stand that could swivel in various directions to provide the best comfort desired, and I needed it to work with my adjustable desk. I was thrilled to find out that when I attached it to the edge of my desk with the special clamp that came with it, it provided a fully flexible curved monitor that I could move in every possible position to adapt to my viewing needs. I was blown away by the incredible resolution on the monitor and how vibrant it displayed various colors. I loved that it had a comfortable setting to minimize the strain on my eyes since I use it all day long for my work now. The other wonderful features were all the types of outputs the monitor had on the back of it to attach devices using a USB 3.0 traditional input, USB-C universal input, HDMI inputs, and a DisplayPort input option. I have been able to use it with multiple laptops, tablets, smartphones, and my desktop computer. I had to adjust the settings for each device to have the best viewing options which LG made easy with the on-screen control software they provided. The monitor also can work in split screen mode to make multi-tasking with several inputs easy. Overall, I have been pleased with the high-quality monitor and the better user experience that I have encountered while using the great monitor. I will recommend this monitor to my friends and others based on their specific needs.

LG’s Awesome 38” UltraWide Monitor

I was so happy when I purchased the brand-new LG 38” Curved UltraWide monitor with an ergonomic stand. I wanted to use it in my updated home office due to the pandemic changing my job to a permanent work from home situation. I have had purchased several LG brand widescreen monitors in the past years and have always been happy with the purchase. LG always produces high-quality products at reasonable prices and I have not had any issues with prior computer monitors. We have a new electric adjustable desk and needed this type of display to be able to adapt for long hours of sitting or standing depending on the day. I was so impressed with the monitor that I told my remote co-workers about how great of a model it was to do the type of work we process so they could get one too if they wanted to. The great thing about this particular model is that it comes with all of the expected outlets on the back to be able to plug various devices such as laptops, desktops, tablets, or even smartphones via HDMI, DisplayPort, USB 3, and regular USB options. All of the connections worked seamlessly without any need for tech support. I have adjusted the monitor to be higher, lower, closer to me, or even further away from my space depending on a particular day and the type of task I wanted to accomplish. This has been my favorite LG monitor so far and has proven to be a high-quality product with excellent features and versatility. I will continue to recommend this monitor to my friends, and family since it such a great finished product.

Mediocre product from a mediocre company

I bought this close to release thinking that Apple and LG were working together and ensuring their products were compatible. They're not. So many dramas at hardware and software level with my Mac Book Pro, so this now sits in a corner and collects dust. ONScreen Control might be the worst software ever developed for a computer. It is notoriously unstable, user-unfriendly and has a mind of it's own. And the screw splitting software is only useful for two Windows computers...not a Mac and a PC. The HDR feature is contrived or manipulated in some way, and Ive not had a single day where I could say I got good picture quality. Don't believe the marketing hype, and certainly don't expect any help from LG. Just look at the 'cut and paste' responses to most of these reviews. One bloke says he's battled with support not calling him back, so LG's response is to provide the same phone numbers so he can waste more time calling again. That is the very same experience I've had. Avoid spending your hard earned dollars on this folks. LG don't deserve you.

My First Widescreen Monitor!

I absolutely cannot believe that I can do what was taking me two separate monitors on just this one monitor. The clarity for someone with less than 20/20 vision is impeccable. There are many settings options such as Custom, Cinema, Vivid, HDR Effect, FPS, RTS, and a reader mode (that has that sort of tablet sepia color to it). I will generally use the Custom feature. I like the Super Resolution+ and Black Level settings as it makes the text stand out better. Under Settings, Picture, Color Adjust, there is a Gamma feature with four separate modes. Choosing Mode 3 enhances text clarity even further and is what I am currently using. Other features include the ability to tilt the monitor forward and back. It does not have an option to raise the height of the monitor and if I had to list any cons that are literally the only one I can think of. On the rear of the monitor where the ports are there is a USB-C port which could be used to charge any devices that use a USB-C charge cable. This is definitely a monitor I would recommend for anyone to use and I mean that especially if you are working from home or for any businesses seeking to upgrade their current monitors for their employees. This is such a major space saver being able to use this one monitor and it looks so much cleaner as well.

Wow, this is an awesome upgrade. We have it in the kitchen where my wife works from home a few days a week. She's using it to extend her desktop on the work laptop she uses. We replaced a regular 1080p monitor with this one and it's as different as night and day. Not only is this monitor lighter but it has a lot of modern inputs on the back. To me this is light as a feather. She can now have more open windows visible at the same time but those windows are larger. A lot less eye strain trying to real tiny figures jammed into a smaller screen and she doesn't have to keep alternating expanding different windows to see/move figures between them. Easier to see and more to see at once, I would call that a definite win in both comfort and productivity. The stand was also ... MoreWow, this is an awesome upgrade. Not only is it heavy enough to keep the monitor from tipping over if accidentally jostled, but it is wide enough that it doesn't interfere with the desk space directly in front & underneath the monitor. I did bowwow it one weekend to try it out and found that the colors looked great and there was no problem watching an HD video while also having another window open to browse the web or check my emails. Very much worth it to take advantage of a modern sized monitor.

Very nice, HUGE, super sharp, just a little dim

A wonderful monitor this gives you a feel of a 32 inch 4K display but widened to 40 inches. Essentially, it gives you an extra 1/3 of a display, or about 7 horizontal inches, which comes in extremely useful when working or editing. I am using it with a M1 Max Mac Studio and a 16 M1 Max MacBook Pro. I had a LG model very similar to this prior, and that's exactly what it looks like but wider, and with slightly more refresh rate. It is basically as close to retina as you can get without getting one of Apple's 6K displays at nearly 4x the cost, and it is much larger than the 27 5K Studio Display they sell, at the same cost, with nearly equal sharpness. It displays 98% of DCI P3 which is outstanding color. and it is pre-calibrated. It displays 98% of DCI P3 which is outstanding color. and it is pre-calibrated. The display is also a Thunderbolt 4 hub, with an extra TB port for USB-C or Thunderbolt 4 devices (or daisy chaining), two USB-A 3.1 ports with power. two HDMI 2 and a DP 1.4 jack. Plus it provides 96W of power to an attached Mac. It has become my TB hub as well. The speakers are also surprisingly decent. Not as good as Apple's in the Studio Display or old iMac Pro, but vastly better than the 32 LG I replaced it with. They are indeed serviceable, with decent range and they get very loud. The only issue is it's not very bright. 300 nits. This leaves out HDR and is quite disappointing for a monitor of this cost. It's fine - it works in a room with an open window and lights on and it works very well in a controlled light space, but if you need something brighter it won't work. The brightness is the only disappointment. Other than that, it's quite good. The 72 Hz little boost is noticeable and a little smoother than the 60 used to have and the Studio Display has. The sharpness is extremely high and while it's not exactly fully retina at 200+ dpi, the 150 or so it has does the job from a few feet away. Highly recommended.
