A great monitor with a few caveats
I was very excited to get this monitor and have enjoyed owning it. That being said there are items that you have no way of finding out how to do them using LG's website. I am on Windows 11 and they provide no drivers when you look the monitor up.I was after the ability to display two different computers side by side on this single monitor. LG's OnScreen Control app that they guided me to was incredibly worthless.I friend mentioned that I could get to the split screen view using the toggle cursor button on the back right side of the monitor (as you face it). To get to it, Depress the Cursor button once to bring up a circular center screen menu. Then toggle right to get to the Settings menu. Then move to PBP/PIP and click again. Here you can arrange the split screen in a variety of configurations. This works, but then there is no way in LG's tools to allow the mouse to cross from one computer's desktop to the other. I found that a Tool is available through the Microsoft Garage called Mouse without Borders. This enables the keyboard and mouse to cross from one desktop to the other as if they were one computer. Now having figured all that out I am a happy camper, but it was a frustrating process and I hope to help others avoid the frustrations I encountered.... Best high quality monitor I’ve ever owned
This was a serious investment but so worth it. If you’re considering a wide screen monitor you will definitely want a 38” one. Go visit a store to see a comparison to a 34”. If you feel reluctant about a curved monitor I can tell you it’s weird for about 2 days and then it seems natural and you don’t notice anymore. I use this for work and play. For work, it’s awesome to have all the extra room of two side by side monitors in a single one. I’m able, on my MacBook Pro, to change the resolution to 4K and suddenly get more space. I can do zoom meetings and take notes simultaneously. I can more easily work with multiple apps at once. For play, I haven’t played too many games yet but now that I have this monitor I’ve been thinking about getting a gaming pc to take ... MoreThis was a serious investment but so worth it. I also bought an Egotron desk mounted arm to mount this monitor to. It’s awesome to move the monitor where I want it. Streaming content feels very immersive and beautiful. The bright and sharp colors are amazing. You will not be disappointed. I like the monitor software that lets me control the monitor from the computer.... Show more

Best ultrawide monitor for productivity!
I've been using this ultrawide monitor for the past couple weeks and I'm in love with it. I've personally been using it mostly for work which involves having multiple programs open at once along with excel work and it's been absolutely perfect for that. You can have 4 full size windows open at once, or 3 that are expanded to a little wider than normal. The resolution is great and nothing is blurry or pixely. My favorite thing to do on it is use excel because it's been great to see a very large view of both columns and rows. The speakers have been really good as well and I mostly use them for video calls and voices are very clear and can get very loud but I keep the volume around 15-20%.Lastly, I love the amount of input options this monitor has. I've just used the USB c connection which charges my laptop as well but Im sure I'll be trying out more input configurations eventually. I'm absolutely in love with this monitor and will never go back to using a regular size and featureless monitor ever again.... Show more

Excellent - Don't trust the naysayers!
I did a LOT of research whilst looking for a monitor. I'm not a professional video editor or gamer, I just write a lot of manuals, so a big screen where I can cross reference easily is vital. So many reviews were off-putting, due to people saying things such as "not bright enough" and "poor connections" etc. I CANNOT fault this monitor. Resolution is excellent and the Ergo arm is fabulous. Just angry I looked at the naysayers online! It connected by 1 thunderbolt cable (USB-C) to my M1 MacBook Pro. Simply fabulous. Works effortlessly. Using my MacBook 12 through the HDMI, work faultlessly too. Really impressed!I eventually cracked and purchased this because of a great 9to5 Mac review which I saved some time ago, where the reviewer raved on about the screen. I ... Didn't matter for me as the monitor is in the corner of my study, and I can't say I spend my time staring at the back of a monitor!... Show more

Great monitor so far
I was looking at 34 Ultra Wide displays to go with my new MacBook Air, largely on recommendation of a relative who uses one. After reviewing way too many YouTube videos, I settled on this monitor--I wanted maximal screen real estate. I was coming from a retina display on my old 17 PC, which was fabulous, if a smidgen small. So you can imagine adapting to a 38 took a while. HINT: You will want a window manager (I use Amethyst)--it's really hard to make efficient use of the screen real estate otherwise. It also took me about a week getting used to a non-retina display, but I no longer notice. I am glad in many ways since audio plug-ins on the PC were a mess on retina displays... now I'm no longer dealing with that issue. The 38 screen is a bit wider than is probably ... The 38 screen is a bit wider than is probably ideal for me, so definitely consider 34 displays as well, although this is also a function of how close or far away you can place the monitor (mine is a bit closer due to eyesight issues). I'm using the 100mm VESA mount for use on my monitor arm--works no problems. I haven't put the built-in Thunderbolt 3 hub through its paces, mainly because I already had a T3 hub (into which this monitor is plugged). Nor do I use the monitor speakers. The display is plenty bright for my office (which is airy buy not overly sunny). Summary: Coding, note taking while browsing, and using software with a timeline is a dream on this thing (audio editing, video editing, sheet music).... Show more

LG 49" Ultrawide Review
I received my monitor 2 weeks ago and have been absolutely loving it. Upon opening up the box everything was packaged very nicely and easy to access. After removing the monitor the assembly of the stand was extremely easy and connecting to my laptop was very simple with just 1 usbc cable. The monitor also provides power to the laptop via the usbc any time the display is on which allows 1 extra port on the laptop for accessories. Once I had everything put together I was surprised with how much adjustment the stand offered. Connecting to my laptop was super simple and just required adjusting the resolution to fit the monitor. Once I was setup the clarity of the screen is unlike anything I have used before. My previous setup had a 27 inch monitor and my laptop screen ... Once I was setup the clarity of the screen is unlike anything I have used before. My previous setup had a 27 inch monitor and my laptop screen beneath it and the sheer size of this monitor has increased my efficiency exponentially. I comfortably fit all 4 of the applications I regularly monitor along with a full sized browser window in the center of the display. Every form of media I have consumed has been crystal clear and the colors are excellent. I was also surprised with how good the built in speakers are. Great for listening to music while working. The controls for monitor settings (volume, brightness, etc) are very intuitive. Overall I have been extremely pleased with this monitor and would recommend it to anybody who is looking to improve efficiency while working or even just for personal use... Show more

LG never fails to meet expectations
I've used 1080p monitors since I was a kid, I can afford 4k monitors but this monitor is EXACTLY what I needed.1440p res, gaming is good - Gamers you have to do a lot of tweaking with the monitor before you actually start playing any of your games. Not all games support this reso. recommend using 21:9 aspect ratio for some games. This monitor has a built in KVM switch, so you can plug your personal computer and work computer via hdmi/DP and it'll automatically readjust all of your devices to that device. Dope, removes the need for additional docking stations and portsits 3800R curve, idk what that means, its a slight curve not a heavy one. you move your eyes alot but not your headRecommend a monitor arm mount for more freedom, the stand provided is not enough ... Don't get it if you dont have a decent graphics card(basically no onboard graphics)Keep in mind when using this on a laptop(windows) itll be janky, compared to my gaming PC, my work laptop(MSI creator 15) resolution is weird but that is because it is not display port. Please keep this in mind when you factor that in. I dont care much for resolution at work just want more space on 1 screen.Even though I marked it has a 4/5 thats as a customer... this thing is EXPENSIVEEE, I got it at a discount if the discount price was the actual product price, this monitor would be 5/5 and a dominator in ultrawide 1440p monitor market.Personally 5/5, this monitor has met all the expectations I've been looking for in the past couple months of my monitor hunt... Mediocre product from a mediocre company
I bought this close to release thinking that Apple and LG were working together and ensuring their products were compatible. They're not. So many dramas at hardware and software level with my Mac Book Pro, so this now sits in a corner and collects dust. ONScreen Control might be the worst software ever developed for a computer. It is notoriously unstable, user-unfriendly and has a mind of it's own. And the screw splitting software is only useful for two Windows computers...not a Mac and a PC. And the upstream USB-C port intermittently cuts out, rendering your power supply and peripherals useless. The joystick controls are located on the rear (yes the REAR of a 49 inch screen) and there's no remote. So every adjustment, including volume, requires you to get up out of ... The HDR feature is contrived or manipulated in some way, and Ive not had a single day where I could say I got good picture quality. Don't believe the marketing hype, and certainly don't expect any help from LG. Just look at the 'cut and paste' responses to most of these reviews. One bloke says he's battled with support not calling him back, so LG's response is to provide the same phone numbers so he can waste more time calling again. That is the very same experience I've had. Avoid spending your hard earned dollars on this folks. LG don't deserve you.... Show more

So big I had to adjust my desk setup!
I was super excited when my LG monitor arrived! I have been using a laptop screen along with a small second screen but knew I needed even more screen space to be as efficient as possible. The LG UltraWide 49-inch monitor is big, really big! It provides all the space I need! I can have at least 4 full-size browser windows open at a time and many more smaller windows open if I choose. The unboxing and stand assembly was super easy. The stand attaches without tools and I had the monitor together and on my desk within minutes. I very quickly realized my existing desk setup was not going to be deep enough - which is not a bad thing! I will trade having this new monitor for an adjustment to my desktop any day! I am very impressed with the stand. You can adjust the monitor to a wide range of heights and you can also tilt the monitor horizontally and vertically to meet your needs. LG hit it out of the park when it comes to the stand! But I am most happy with the screen itself, of course. I have the resolution set as high as it will go - 5120 x 1440 - and it is super sharp and super clear. The on-screen settings are simple to navigate and well engineered. The monitor connected flawlessly with my laptop. One cool perk - the monitor charges my laptop so I don't have to use my laptop's charging cord. Saves on space and cord clutter. I am very happy with my LG UltraWide monitor. I would recommend it to anyone!... Show more

Too large to be practical
49 is just too much. The point of an ergonomic monitor is... ergonomics- primarily, minimizing head movement. But this monitor is so wide I cannot clearly read text on the sides even by moving my head. I ended up just using the middle ~60% or so of the monitor (at which point I might as well get a 38-43 ultrawide monitor). At 49, you really need this monitor to be around 3-4' from your head, but most people don't have desks that deep. The ambient light sensor seemed like a good idea, and while it usually worked well, there's no option to set an offset. For example, it would have been nice to be able to have that auto-brightness functionality, but be able to boost or reduce the brightness in case you find LG doesn't know how bright you like your monitor given the ambient light. Also (and this happens with all of LG's monitors with ambient light sensors) if the brightness in the room is just right, it will constantly adjust from one brightness setting to another, since the ambient brightness is right on the threshold of those two brightness settings. It's one of those things you might just disable. LG should have the brightness adjust in small increments like a MacBook would, so that subtle changes in ambient brightness cause only subtle changes in the monitor's brightness. The stand, while a fancy rose-gold aluminum, is large and takes up a lot of depth as well as width on a desk. If you're taller than 5'6 or so, you'll probably wish the monitor would go higher on the stand and end up buying a VESA mount that allows the monitor to go higher, keeping the fancy stand in its box.The final issue I have with this monitor is that it's 60Hz. It's 2022. The monitor is (was) well over a grand. 60Hz is nonsense. I was able to overclock to 72Hz and even 75Hz, however at 75Hz LG displays this annoying out of range popup on the screen that doesn't go away. There is no way to get rid of it except to lower the resolution back to 60-72Hz. Another dumb move by LG.I'm glad to see the monitor is a third cheaper than when I bought it a few months ago, but it's still not a good choice. Go for something smaller and with a higher resolution and refresh rate.... Show more
