Looks good and good reputation. cant really comment on longevity, the main reason i upgraded though.pretty heavy nota problem on the flat but maybe using upright.

Good heavy sander with lots of power. The dust extraction is super, with 600W it is very effective. This one doesn't have a device to perforate the paper for dust extraction like Makita's 1/3 sheet sander but I made one easily with a couple of pieces of wood and some sharpened dowel, which is far less expensive than pre-punched sheets.

I bought this product to replace one damaged in a fire. I stayed with this brand because of the quality and reliability I have found in Makita tools.
Very powerful and effective. Currently using it to finish off the edges on my decking that I can’t get into with my Mikita belt sander. With coarse paper it removes wood rapidly. Only issue is that it is a bit noisy and if you are going to use for a long period recommend anti vibration gloves.
I have had at least six of these sanders over the years and are in use daily . Very robust and good value for money as always from Makita . The sand paper fixing clips do need replacing after a few years and are not cheap but I haven't found anything better to date.
this sander is great for two things. Fast removal and keeping the work flat. Built like a tank, and dust extraction is excellent even using just the bag. It has a 5mm orbit so if your work isn't painted you'll need a more suited sander for finishing as you will see swirls
I worked some jobs with other also powerful and quality sanders which I don't want to mention,but what is the difference: first in weight-Makita is havilier,and so far I would say this should be the sign of quality and Makita have less number of vibrations but not less efficiency, which is better ( for your hands )for long term jobs. I hope it will last.
Yes it's heavy.Yes it sands away like nothing else I've had in my hands.Yes it vibrates very little - something which my tendinitis GREATLY appreciates.. - specially since being heavy I can let it do the work just guiding it alongYes it does extract dust reasonably well on it's ownVERY pleased w/ my purchase, delivery was fast, sander arrived impeccably packedOne single gripe : I also bought the Makita punch plate for this model & to be honest considering the suction holes in the sander's base plate are about 10mm diameter, why does the punch plate have these teeny weeny 3mm studs to punch the paper ?This CAN'T help maximise dust extraction..
Powerful sander which does the job done a lot quicker that the lower class Makita sander I've used before. Sandpaper sheets are easily replaced.
