I don't know what a genuine Makita charger looks like or how good they work. So I'm totally ok with this one at this great price. It charged up my 6 amp battery in about 2 hours which is more than acceptable. I will say it is surprisingly light for its size; not a complaint just an observation. From what everyone else says, why spend 2 to 3 times the money just to say you have an oem one?

Great for a 20yr old Dewalt drill. Should last a few years w minor around the house projects. I purchased two batteries to interchange w one of the existing batteries. Price was much lower than previously purchased batteries even if it is afermarket manufacture or refurbished (not sure). Hopefully they will last.

I have used one battery, I used it on a rotary saw, it lasted as long as my my smaller 2AH Makita battery which was to be expected( which is not a long time), I will be testing out the battery length on a drill this weekend ( which should last longer as it does not use as much to work). The product is much cheaper than Makita batteries so it is a value if you are realistic with your expectations. I will probably buy this item again in time as they are much much cheaper than the Makita brand.

Very disappointed with the usefulness of the battery. This battery can't be 5 amp hours. I was able to operate a Dewalt reciprocating saw for 3 or 4 minutes before the power ran down to nothing. The weight of the battery is much less than the original Dewalt 18 volt battery informing one the battery does not have the same amount of NiCad as the OEM battery.
Well, having a dozen different Makita tools and dozens of batteries, these compare favorably to the other 'off' brands that I've purchased. I am skeptical that these are really 6.0Ah batteries (closer to 3-4 in my estimation), but they fit the tools well, take a charge and seem to be reliable. But at this price point, it's kind of a no brainer. If they take a charge and do so for a year or so, I'm making money on the tool. As a remodeling contractor, I generally do not need to use these tools for extended periods of time and frequency, but often enough, installing decks in the summer can stress these things out to the max. I recycle about 2-3 batteries a year and they go in a box that goes to the Ho Depo for that. There is often enough Makita batteries in that box ... Sometimes I'll get a battery that doesn't like one charger but works in another; don't know why. You can YouTube on how to find out how to fix these things (generally it's a single bad battery out of a dozen or so inside the Makita sized frame that holds these things) but that seems like a bunch of work...these batteries cost me about $25.each. Makita brand is about 3X that. 'Nuff said.
I had 12 Makita batteries 4ah & 5ah. Recently sold all my eight 4 ah batteries and purchased four of the 6ah batteries. I was extremely please to find they worked very well. I use my Makita 36v (two 18v batteries) blower almost everyday. The 4ah batteries sometimes did not even provide enough power to blow off our front drive and back patio. The 5ah batteries would complete this with some reserve. I went to purchase the 5ah batteries and seen the 6ah for nearly the same price. Very satisfied with my purchase as the 6ah have completed the same job twice and I still have 2 of the 3 bars left on blower power indicator. I can easily recommend these for that kind of use. Other power tools may differ obviously. I have not checked them out on my other tools yet. Gadget
I was expecting this battery to be more powerful than the 5Ah battery, but I do not believe it is. It definitely has more runtime, but the "juice" is more like a 4Ah battery. From what I researched on the internet, the 6Ah battery has 20A max output while a 5Ah battery has a 25A max output. Again, the 6Ah battery does produce more runtime. If you are looking for extreme current draw tools to give you maximum power, then go with the 5Ah battery. If you don't need the max draw but want longer runtime, then buy the 6Ah battery.
The battery lasted 2 years and then would no longer take a charge. I contacted the seller about the warranty and haven't heard anything. I will update it if I do hear anything about the warranty. I use the battery maybe once a week or every other week, for odd projects around the house. The original Makita batteries lasted 10 years. If these batteries lasted 5 years they might be worth it. At 2 years, they just aren't worth buying in my opinion.
Batteries Punch Way Above their Weight!!! Makita 36V blower with these 6Ah batteries blast snow & ice away with awesome power compared to 5A batteries. They are in a class of their own-transform Makita landscaping tools into veritable snow-blowing winter workhorses. I'm simply Blown Away with the snow clearing force these batteries provide. 2 Blowers in Tandem clear driveway & walkways, steps, platforms in minutes!! Clear vehicles of snow & ice in seconds.
The Batteries both charged up as advertised. I used them both thru two full charges. Seemed like the charges were weak. The run cycles were short. After using the I tried to recharge them while they were still warm, the DeWalt charger would not do that. Had to wait till the batteries were dead cold. The charges do not last as long as the original DeWalt batteries. They work for now.
