I purchased this for a gift. I have owned this same tool for two years. The light weight easy to control tool is a real pleasure to use. I love the blade on the right because it’s easier to see cut alignment. Most of the cutting is crosscutting but ripping a sixteen foot deck board is no problem with the rip guide either. The battery life is amazing. Makita batteries have a very good life span. I do not think about recharging until the job is done.

This saw works really well. It is lightweight and easy to operate with either hand since you can easily see where the blade contacts the wood from either side. I wondered if it would have enough power but it really cuts fast and clean. Also I doesn't seem to be as loud, when cutting, as my big corded circular saw. I got it in a kit with a battery and charger. The battery that came with it and the batteries from my other Makita LXT star tools all work interchangeably without problems or modifications. Its already been knocked off the bench on to the ground (outside) a few times and has not suffered any damage not even a crack. Along with this saw, there is a 20yr old 12V Makita drill driver in the attached image that still works! That's even after being dropped on ... MoreThis saw works really well. I'm not the sharpest machete in the shed. My battery platform(s) are all over the place. Bosch, Milwaukee, Makita ... even a few Yellow Crack 'n Decker (DeWalt).However, we run, mostly, Makita and Milwaukee ... both are quite good.Picked this up ... already having several of both Makita and Milwaukee.The only reason that it was given a three, is that most of our other cordless circular saws are brushless, whether Milwaukee Fuel, or Makita ... so, this little guy seemed a little on the underpowered side. However, comparing it to most brushed cordless stuff ... it's actually quite good. So, my rating really should have been a four, but I made my mind up for it to be a three.... That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I was waiting for it and was everything expected. I have other older Makita tools and very happy with those. I was ready to move up to other battery operated tools and finally did it. I will be purchasing other Li-Ion Makita tools in the future.
Saw came as expected and included blade and rip fence. Plate is good and all bolts work and angle, tighten, and loosen well. Got my batteries and charger elsewhere and confirmed saw works great. Minor negligible damage to the handle but Im totally fine with that. Great value!!
First and foremost,note that this is a BRUSHED tool and not BL.I only bought this for price comparison. So compared with any leading brands of BRUSHED Power Tools I know,this Makita cordless 18v hand saw is seriously the king of Kings.
Great tool. We are hard pressed to drag out a corded saw anymore. Thought a older one had bit the dust and could not face the thought of only one in the truck. Bought to replace the old horse. Was able to replace the controller and new life yea! Now I got a brand new one in reserve. Would normally pass the old one on to some one but no one worthy right now. Got three and use them every day
Smooth operator lightweight well built surprisingly isn't loud when cutting compared to other saws the only issue I had was I have two Makita 6 amp batteries and only one will work, can't figure out ,why the other battery works in all my other Makita drills impact , saw zal, flashlight. And the price is right on eBay as opposed to home Depot
Top quality tool! If there's a difference between refurbished and new, I can't tell! Bought a corded Makita circular saw decades ago, it's the best circular saw I've ever owned. This cordless Makita is compact and powerful. Satisfied customer!
Bought a Makita set about 6 to 7 years ago. Love the product they put quality into their products. Had the little 4 1/4 inch saw. Saw was alright would do the job but battery would not last as long and the saw had limited application. This new saw is so much better. Cuts deeper has more power. Great saw, I love it. Easy to use. Bigger than my other 4 1/2 saw but smaller than a skill saw. Now they are making batteries that last a long time. Yeh the longer the battery life the more expensive the battery. Would recommend the saw.
