I have thick, wavy asian hair. Tried this out after my first experience with Maui Moisture in their Bamboo Fibers line. I liked the scent and I have bleached and colored hair, so I figured I might as well give this a try. I really loved the Bamboo line but I did not like this one!! My hair never felt cleansed. When using the matching conditioner it was difficult to detangle my hair. I never felt that smoothness I usually feel during the conditioning step. My hair felt weighed down and just gross. I tested out a different shampoo along with the Sea Minerals conditioner and was able to get that "smooth" detangled feeling that I couldn't with this shampoo. Will not repurchase.

I have very sensitive skin and have always reacted to a lot of products especially hair care products. I gave this a go not expecting much. Because I've tried specialist shampoos hypoallergenic ones to no avail. Anything fake scented often affects me. Not only did my hair not react to it. It has kept my red dye lasting well. But I also have a rather dry scalp and straw like hair. After a couple weeks of using this my hair has started to improve. I like that it's a thick mixture to massage into the scalp.Very moisturising for dry hair I also have thick and frizzy wavy/curly hair. Not super curly anymore but curly enough. I have greasy hair at the root that’s frizzy at the end and I’ve been colouring it since I was a teen. This shampoo is the first and only shampoo for coloured hair that does not leave my hair greasy the next day! I have had to wash my hair daily because of how greasy it gets and now worn this shampoo and the bare minimum dry shampoo I can get 2-3 days out of my hair, which is a miracle for me. It smells lovely and lathers up really nice, a little goes a long way as well. I see the other reviews saying it dries their hair out, this might be because this is silicone and sulfare free- these ingredients in more traditional shampoos make your hair seem silky and moisturised on a short term basis, but fry your hair out long term. I get the for thick and curly hair kind with coconut oil, but I LOVE this brand so much. Sense I’ve been using them my hair has been the healthiest it’s ever been. I never even realized how pretty my curls could be. It’s the first hair product that helps frizz, even my boyfriend loves them more than any other brand of soap we’ve ever tried! I rarely leave reviews, but I had to say it! Love it never ever change!!!
This shampoo is my new favorite! The moment I opened the bottle my nose was met with the most pleasant, light and clean scent. I really like that it smells clean and fresh and not overpowering scented. It's a natural smell. The shampoo has a light lather and I can tell that my hair is really grabbing all of that cleansing power and moisture. I feel good knowing that this product is free of parabens and is vegan friendly. I also love that it is infused with sea minerals, algae and kelp which are extra moisturizing. While I haven't been using this shampoo very long, I have noticed that my color seems more vibrant and my hair is light and voluminous. I highly recommend this shampoo!
I discovered this line of haircare about 6 months ago and it has truly transformed my hair as well my nighttime routine(I adore the tropical scents!) I have fine highlighted hair and used to get itchy scalp. But not with Maui products. I currently have 3 on rotation- Sea Minerals, Hibiscus and Awapuhi. All are wonderful. It could be the Aloe Vera content but they are very soothing to both hair and scalp.

On the positive side both this shampoo and the conditioner smell nice, have a good texture, the shampoo lathers up nicely and my hair felt smooth and silky when rinsing out these products in the shower. However after a few uses my hair felt dry, looked dull and was so frizzy at the ends I struggled to get a brush through it. Up until using this shampoo my hair felt lovely and soft (even my hairdresser commented on how nice it felt) and now it's almost straw like. I'm going to keep using hair masks and hope I can get my hair feeling moisturised, nourished and back to it's original softness. I have very fine very curly hair. I have never had a shampoo and conditoner (the light weight curls conditioner) dry my hair out as much as this. I can't even get my hands through my hair after using it, it left a tangle mess and had to use about 5 times more detangler and leave in conditioner than normal after using this product. I do not recommend it at all.
