Really Cool Pocket Knife. This blade will cut through just about anything apart from metal. It took me a few minutes to understand that I needed to press the imbedded liner to close the blade back into the base of the knife. The knife is just the right size to fit into any pocket, or inside a low cut shoe sock.

I got it at a resale shop, for $4, along with other Milwaukee tools. It was very very dirty and gummed up but blade nice and sharp. Cleaned right up. Opens with a flick of the wrist and locks solid. I tried to get the lock to fail from “Normal” pressure on back of blade but lock would never fail. So I don’t know what everyone else is complaining about. Easy open and loud click when looked.

So I had forgotten my US Kershaw hooked on my pocket as I was going towards TSA in Austin. I stopped and buried it in my carry-on, but wouldn't you know the x-ray spotted it, diverted my bag to another conveyor belt, and some serious gentlemen directed me to join my bag. I dont get excited, and knew why I was being detained, so I told them they could grab my US Kershaw and do what they wanted with it. I was out of time to catch my flight, and I wanted to be sure to catch the flight, to see the reactions of the other passengers as I boarded dead last. I know they thought I was smuggling something, because when I was told to come with the serious (and Extremely professional ) gentlemen, nobody else in the area would even look in my direction, as though they could be ... I was at my friend, Jeremy's, house and needed a knife. He handed me one and said he had three of these so hang on to it. I had actually asked for a can opener, but he said this would do it, no problem. Now, when Jeremy is right, there is no disputing it, and boy was he right!I cut right through the Food-service size can lid like an office file-folder. AMAZING. Never felt I would slip and cut off my (you know what!), or any other appendiges. I looked at it, and noticed it had a bent-wire pocket clip, which won't tear your pants, and the cleverbutton-release let's you open with one hand in tight clearance areas, where a wrist-flip would be difficult, at best.So this was Monday, and I continued to use it opening at least one can a day, sometimes 2 or 3. On Thursday a gentleman asked if I had a knife to open a can. "Sure do", I said, "But be careful, it might be getting dull" I warned as I handed it over.10 minutes later I came out and he handed me back the knife and said: " I thought you were serious when you said it might be dull" he explained, "but (religious epithet appropriate for the situation) that thing is truly SHARP"It hit me instantly...after cutting open, as though it was a commercial electric opener, a dozen cans, it is still just as sharp as when I got it Monday.I am blown completely away. Now I might be in for a surprise come sharpening time, cuz that blade is made of some crazyMil-Spec Stainless/Carbon blend that literally just cut through a Summer sausage a second ago, right though the plastic Plastic/paper inner label, and the sausage itself like I just finished a 15-stage sharpening, instead of a 15-can de-sharpening!If they have this in Black, it will be the only knife I buy to carry for the rest of my life. So Help me God.Of course I'm keeping the Red one Jeremy handed me, because 2 Milwaukee knives, thats why! Lol!If y'all are still here, I am not kidding. This (bleep) thing is amazing on a level few items of any type can hope to achieve. Easily the best Work/Dailey Carry knife in existence...Is it the one to grab for a full dress occasion?Absolutely...in Black!Best Daily-carry folder EVER!

I have carried this knife daily for 3 years.Pros- good steel, very sharp when new, sharpens decently, alloy is a bit sticky if that makes sense.Cool design, nice weight, feels good in the hand.Mids- closing this knife is apparently a mystery to anyone I hand it to.Cons- It feels too good in the hand for an incredibly inept design.Someone clearly spent some time shaping the scales and features of this knife to fit a hand well. They put nice finger wells for your grip to wrap around, ridges for your thumb....cooolThe hair trigger lock is inside the best grip, it actually stands proud enough that a gripping finger will always apply force to the liner lock.In 30 years of edc knife carry and extensive use I had never had a knife be so unpredictable,My fingers ... Very pleased with this inexpensive knife. Took about 5 minutes of trial and error to learn how to consistently flick it open. Some reviewers say it's mostly in the wrist. I found I needed to add the use the forearm to get consistent full deployment. Maybe the wrist action alone will work as the knife gets broken in. No need to lube the blade hinge or adjust the screw. The blade comes comes usable sharp right out of the package. 5 minutes on a ceramic stone then several stropping swipes on cardboard got it impressively sharp -- sharp enough to slice off narrow slivers from magazine paper stock.
This is my 3rd fastback knife and the first that I’ve had issues with. I love the ease of open and closing I use it to help remove insulation from large size wires. The issue I am having is that the inner lock doesn’t lock it fully. In the last week I have almost cut 2 of my fingers off due to this issue. Pressure on the blunt or back of the blade causes the knife to fold. Not every time b it it should at all. The first time I didn’t realize it collapsed because I dropped it when I cut myself and it locked back in place. The second time it was painfully obvious it collapsed and being so sharp it cut quickly. I tried to make it collapse by pushing on the back of the blade and it did. I flipped it harder and tried and it still collapsed. The third time was even harder ... MoreThis is my 3rd fastback knife and the first that I’ve had issues with. The last 2 knives never had this issue and the only reason for the third knife is one was worn out the other lost.
Well I'm a general contractor and I carry a knife and box cutter/ utility knife with me at all times. My first Milwaukee knife was the 48-22-1990 which was a fathers day gift from my so along with a 48-22-1991 utility knife I carried these things around for like 5 years. I actually paid a roofer $50 to get my knife back because I had lost it at a job site and knowing it was a gift from my son I was not going to let it go. That being said after so long I though I got to retire these thing and pick up a couple more before I lose or break them..so went out and got new ones I went through a couple of the box cutters before I found the one I was comfortable with but the knife was a one and done situation the 48-22-1520 so on this specific series I love the clip I fell ... So I liked the knife so much that I though that will never happen again and bought a second one well what do you know dropped that one to didn't see this one fall but when I went to pick it up tips snapped off again I'm like no way i only had it a week mind you my first one lasted me 5 year so convinced I'm just bad luck I go to the store the next morning and by me a third one so I'm working as always 5 months in I'm talking to a friend of mine and he ask about my knife told him a similar story probably a little shorter but the just of it I like Milwaukee brand I got the both drill sets the M12 , and M18, the rotary hammer drill corded, 61/2 M18 circular saw, deep cut band saw, M12 pipe expanded, the list goes on point being Milwaukee fan and last 2 knifes I had bad luck but this one seems to be holding very next day I'm driving into home Depot parking lot pull out my knife to open a package and set it on my lap forgot it was there when I went to get off and it fell to the floor when I pick it up what do you know the tips broke off almost the exact same spot all three times what is going on I had no choice but to by another knife they didn't have and other knife but the tiny 1521 but I needed one in was almost tempted to buy a husky but I didn't buy something's gotta give am I the only one having this problem with these things?
I WOULD rate this 3 stars as the knife is perfectly functional as an average folding knife. However, it's not why I'd purchase a Milwaukee Fastback. This would be a lovely Milwaukee folding knife + a button lock. The flaw of this knife, is in it's design - by including the liner lock they've added a brake on the Fastback mechanism, requring excessive force to open it the way you would a normal utility knife Fastback. It's worth noting that the other Fastback with a liner lock that I've tried, the hawkbill bladed one, has this same issue. The good things first:You get a decent gauge wire clip, and can remove it or fix it to the top or bottom of the knife for tip up or down carry. It's bent so it's tight enough to grip on to and not fall out of your pocket when ... MoreI WOULD rate this 3 stars as the knife is perfectly functional as an average folding knife. It's worth noting that the other Fastback with a liner lock that I've tried, the hawkbill bladed one, has this same issue. The good things first:You get a decent gauge wire clip, and can remove it or fix it to the top or bottom of the knife for tip up or down carry. It's bent so it's tight enough to grip on to and not fall out of your pocket when you sit down; but not so tight you'd need two hands to do so (a problem I had with the earlier Fastback wire clips). The blade comes sharp from the factory, good enough to slice standard paper cleanly. Not razor blade sharp, but way better than average as far as factory sharp goes. The issue here is, you need far more force to flip the blade open - it's very easy to under do it and half deploy the blade, or not even get the edge out past scales of the knife. Once you get used to how hard you need to flick this knife, that should be less of an issue - but all the same, it's crazy how stiff this knife is in comparison to Milwaukee's Fasbtack utility knives. From what I can see comparing the two styles, all Milwaukee would need to do in addressing this is NOT cut the metal and split the leaf spring used for locking in two.If the button pushed on both the cam lock and the liner lock, you should have a knife that opens and closes as smoothly as the utility knives, but with the added security of a liner lock. This is effectively how the Fastback utility knife opens and closes, though it has a single internal stud lock that the button moves up and down, which in turn snaps into one of two notches in the pivot to lock it open or closed.
Great knife for 12.95 or so. Opens quickly and easily, with an affirmative "click", and it intimidates. I hardened the blade, it was a little soft for my taste. Now its a hundred dollar knife. Holds a super sharp edge, I modified to a single side edge and it cuts through everything with very little effort. The clip and lock closed and flick to open features are excellent. I love it.
EDC. Its light weight makes it easy to carry. It locks are two position so it’s strong with no wobble. The blade is easy to sharpen. I haven’t tested the blade for edge holding ability, but I believe it is of lesser material than D2.I would recommend this knife because of the price, and the durability of the lock. Great safety is engineered into this product.
