Cooling is decent performance and quiet enough when the fans kick in (fan stop when idle like most cards), no coil whine either on my one. Power limit doesn't affect me as using at factory settings and not OCing but very little overhead vs a lot of other 3070's. Only thing I dislike is the RGB is on out the box and can't be controlled without MSI's hideous Dragon software. Aside from the bloatware one suite do all approach the software itself causes an awful lot of problems on many machines mine included with both stability and none gfx card settings it really shouldn't be trying to force change when I don't even have an msi otherboard/other hardware! At official msrp they still come in significantly more than previous gen but are worth it still imho.

This card runs very cool and quiet. Even when the card is under 100% load, I can barely hear its fans from 2' away from my case. The highest temps I have seen on this MSI card were in the low 60's (at 74 ambient). It appears MSI used the same TRI FROZR 2 cooling system it put on its much higher TDP RTX 3080 and 3090 Gaming X Trio cards, so it handles with ease this RTX 3070 with a 240W max TDP.There are two 8-pin connectors on the card and I used 2 separate PCIe cables from my power supply to plug into the card. If you don't have 2 cables, no worries. I tested with one PCIe cable with its extension plugged in to the card and I didn't notice any impact on performance or stability.Comes with an anti-bending metal strap, which is a nice touch. My card came DOA. After a frustrating series of troubleshooting, it turns out the card was bad. Not New Eggs fault, so I will be updating this review at the conclusion of the RMA process. UPDATE: It took exactly 2 weeks from the time that I dropped by bad GPU off at UPS to when I had my new (and now working) 3070 in hand. The RMA process was seamless and in comparison to some other horror stories that I've heard around the internet, I couldn't have had a better experience. This is a MAJOR reason why to use New Egg (or another highly reputable retailer) when buying one of these top end card. On top of hitting the GPU lottery by being able to purchase one, you can also rest assured that if you are unlucky and it comes DOA, you won't be out hundreds of dollars or luck. ... MoreMy card came DOA. For anyone that's on the fence between the 3070 and the 3080, you will maximize the bang for your buck with this GPU. The factory clock improves performance significantly in comparison to the FE 3070. It's no 3080, but if you're looking for a great performance/$ look no further. To give an idea of performance, with a 5600X and this GPU, I can get 80-90fps very consistently on Ultra, DLSS, Ray tracing on Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p. Unless you're doing CAD or 4k maxed out, this card is plenty and then some.

Pros: It's a 3070, so it's fast. It has 3 fans and a massive heatsink, so it stays cool and quiet even under load. It includes a steel supporting arm that mounts to the PCI brackets so support its massive weight.Cons: That steel support arm was a pain to install. It gets installed after the card, and trying to get to the screws while holding the arm in place, the GPU in place, and dealing with 4 (at the moment) unconnected PCI slot covers that move around was probably the worst part of the whole build. If you have fat fingers, you will *need* a magnetic screwdriver to even have a hope of installing this. Also, the RGB implementation is low quality for such a hugely expensive piece of hardware. The RGB strip on the edge has 6 LEDs that aren't even equally spaced ... MorePros: It's a 3070, so it's fast. It has 3 fans and a massive heatsink, so it stays cool and quiet even under load. The RGB strip on the edge has 6 LEDs that aren't even equally spaced (the ones on each end are a little further out than the middle 4). The plastic piece over the 6 LEDs isn't as opaque as it should be so you see very distinct bright spots where the LEDs are, and darker spots where they aren't. It's a big contrast between that strip and the Corsair gear in my case. Also, the MSI logo lights up but the 'GEFORCE RTX' on the side doesn't.
Like many enthusiasts who have been trying to get a gpu this launch season it's not really a matter of which AIB you want to go with out of preference of brand, rather, which card is available for enough seconds to smash your apple pay button as many times as possible before some bot snatches it out from your grasp. Was it actually in my cart? Does this store even have the stock they're selling? Who knows? Sometimes you get lucky and beat the webscrapers and autopurchase bots used by scalpers. MSI is a fine AIB partner. While maybe not the best customer service in the gpu market, and sometimes a pain in the buttock if you're unlucky enough to get a bad card, they're certainly not the worst. In fact, this is the open and close of the AIB partner debate, especially ... MoreLike many enthusiasts who have been trying to get a gpu this launch season it's not really a matter of which AIB you want to go with out of preference of brand, rather, which card is available for enough seconds to smash your apple pay button as many times as possible before some bot snatches it out from your grasp. While maybe not the best customer service in the gpu market, and sometimes a pain in the buttock if you're unlucky enough to get a bad card, they're certainly not the worst. In fact, this is the open and close of the AIB partner debate, especially this time around. the 30 series cards can overclock, but not by very much. You're unlikely to see any particular AIB card that is better or worse than another by more than a few %. So when it comes to the choice of which "AIB card do I buy?" The answer is anything you can possible get your hands on. This, of course, is no fault of MSI, EVGA, Zotac, ASUS, or any other card AIB. It's an nvidia issue.
So scored one of these early in a combo deal. Overall very satisfied with my purchase and the upgrade this provided from a GTX 1070 FTW edition. Stable build, stable drivers from my experience, and overall a GREAT 1440p beast. It's a compromise from jumping to the RTX 3080 and I'd be hard pressed to NOT take that jump but this should definitely drive my gaming for the next 3-5 years (that's a lie, I'll figure out a way to upgrade because I'm stupid) Biggest drawback is it's size. The Gaming X Trio is one of the BIGGEST cards I've ever got my hands on. It's THICC and, if you too have an NR200, might take a little angling to get it to slide in. Any small form factor PC owners double check your clearances before you decide on this because it might wind up being just ... MoreSo scored one of these early in a combo deal. Any small form factor PC owners double check your clearances before you decide on this because it might wind up being just too big. Also, look for a support of some sort if you aren't able to utilize the one that comes in the case as your GPU just might sag a little bit from how heavy it is. Airflow seems solid with the fans and the curves. I have nothing to complain about from that aspect. Fans haven't gotten obnoxiously loud that I can tell at idle or gaming wise. It sit's 3-4 ft away from me and while the air exhausted out of the case is hot I don't see it reflected in actual GPU temps. It seem to settle around 70-75F while running most games at 1440p to a 27" screen. Daughter scores it SO AMAZING as it runs Mickey's Castle of Illusion with so much wow and it's so pretty with the lights (her words not mine)
Overall this video card has me impressed. I have been saving for one since the launch of the 5700 xt, but never seemed to have enough money due to all the shortages and other garbage going on lately. I have been chugging along with a GTX 1060 6GB for what seems like ever, so this card was a tremendous upgrade. Thank you Newegg for making it possible for a lowly person such as myself to get an awesome video card with your shuffle service! This card will not do CP2077 at 4k ultra with ray tracing (like average less than 30fps) but with ray tracing disabled and DLSS on it does 4k Ultra at more than 60fps in my system, which is fine by me. Totally annihilates the 1060 it replaced! I was shooting for a 3060, but actually glad I got the 3070 because it PERFORMS! All in ... MoreOverall this video card has me impressed. However, once this was done it supported the card firmly. When running my 2 monitor setup desk top it runs passive so is absolutely silent. The two heavy games I have run at a solid 60 fps for RDR2 and 60+ for Cyberpunk 2077 (Ray Trace: Ultra) on my 2560 x 1440. The GPU fans run at about 40% with the sound level well below obnoxious, and quieter than my NH-D15 when it is working flat out to cool my 3600.Performance is excellent with an 1845MHz boost clock which on my card I have been able to lift by +140 with Afterburner. While the price I paid to Scan is certainly well above what the MSRP was expected to be for a 3070, it was quite reasonable in the circumstances and well below what other supposedly reputable sites are charging for this and similar cards, or the prices on a well known auction site.My only complaint, and it's a fairly minor niggle, is that I don't need RGB and there is no way to turn it off without a Windows App from MSI which has to remain resident - there is no non-volatile memory to remember the settings, and no BIOS setting. If you do want RGB then there a wide spectrum of colours the bar can display with each LED being independently programmable, but the 6 LEDs are individually distinguishable through the opal bar.
Using this card for about 30+ days now. This thing fought back when I tried installing it. If I had known, I would've bought a 3080 or a 3090 to be fully satisfied. It is a well functioning card though, and I got what I paid for. I'm on an older build of 7+ years: MSI Z170 Gaming M7 i7-6700k Phanteks Enthoo Pro 1080p 144HZ + 900p 75HZ monitor First I learned I couldn't use my GTX 1070FE on the PCIE slot below the one I installed this card on, because the bracket had a section that was angled too obtusely. I had already installed both cards, and this heccin' chonker made it tough to release the butterfly locks on the 1070 below it, even with a screwdriver. I had already installed both cards, and this heccin' chonker made it tough to release the butterfly locks on the 1070 below it, even with a screwdriver. Second, I needed a BIOS update to stop my rig from going into it every other startup. Looks like time finally caught up to it. Things did not go wrong during the update, but I can't activate XMP anymore without seeing the Overclock Failed screen. It's an entirely different product problem, but it sucks seeing my RAM nerfed. Got a new 1000 watt PSU for this card, and it is making the PSU have coil whine. Wouldn't blame the card though. Using two separate 8 pins instead of a single daisy-chain one made it less noisy and even eliminates it if not facing the rear. No DVI connectors. Had to get Displayports and HDMIs for my monitors instead. Even as my rig was built when DVI's were still a thing, this was only a tiny inconvenience. As for performance it seems like newer and resource demanding titles, like BF2042, are giving me 60-75FPS on all low settings, anti-aliasing on, and DLSS on. I kinda wished I had gotten a better card after all the trouble because of this. At least it was playable to an extent on 64 player conquest. BF1, 3, 4, the Tomb Raider Trilogy, VRChat, Tower Unite, Garry's Mod, all ran extraordinarily well (100 FPS+) on ultra and high/medium with screen-space reflections and raytracing if applicable. I may be CPU bottlenecked, so there might be more to this card. It's very good for older games and newer games they're optimized. After installing NVidia's Studio Drivers for Optix, I was able to render faster with bumped up samples and AI denoising. About 50+ samples more per minute with 16 render samples on an archviz scene in Blender. Even with CUDA rendering, it was still considerably fast. It's definitely an improvement from something like a GTX 1070 FE. 3x more CUDA cores is great. It's running well on my older rig. It does raytracing well. The installation was tougher than expected. For how much difficulty it was, I would've rather gotten a 3080/90. If you wanna get this at a lower than others non-MSRP price because you've gotta upgrade to anything modern, then it's the card for you.
I've been a firm believer in MSI products since 2018. My first motherboard from them still has the best BIOS User Interface I've used in a computer. This GPU lives up to the quality I expect from their products.MSI owns a software kit called "Afterburner" that lets you easily overclock your GPU, and it works flawlessly with this card. I was able to push an extra 120 mhz out of it, which gave me a few more frames in the games I play. Never needed to fiddle with the settings either, once I made them, they were locked in.The RGB lighting on the side is nice as well. Compared to other GPUs I've owned, the lighting is compatible with software I already had on my computer. Less work for me with the same result.Good purchase, I'd say I got an extra 15 or so frames in ... MoreI've been a firm believer in MSI products since 2018.
