As a dash cam, this device just works. In addition to being able to view all recorded video via the app and directly from the SD card, the camera will also automatically upload incidents to the 'vault' (Garmin cloud storage) when it reconnects to your wifi network. While the vault only saves videos for 24 hours unless you pay for additional service, this does give you time to review important videos while you don't have access to the camera. Would recommend.

The Garmin 57 dash cam for the most part does exactly as it’s supposed to, Connects easily with your phone, uploads the videos to the cloud, is easy to use and the safety features work pretty well. The only reason I’m giving it four stars is the speed camera detection system can be a little hit and miss. Overall, a great dash cam and would highly recommend.

The camera itself is great, but the designers completely overlooked some basic usability issues (1) the DC57 comes with a stick on magnetic base - so don't buy this camera if you want to move it between vehicles. And what happens if you get a broken windscreen, if you remove the base to relocate it to a new windscreen, the glue degrades and will not stick. Surely for the price, a suction cap holder could also have been provided. (2) they have assumed that the USB power source is always located below the camera, but my motorhome has an overhead console with USB port. The supplied cable has a right angled fitting, so there is an ugly loop of the cable down below the camera then back up to the power source. Impossible to get a neat looking installation. Supply of a ... The camera is satisfactory however, the magnetic base is not suitable as the attachment need to be permanently fixed to the car windshield. This is not suitable if you have to use it in another car or take it on a hire car for example. I had to purchase a suction cup mount separately at an extra cost to me when it should have been supplied as a standard item just like all other providers of dashcams provide with their cameras.
This a great camera with excellent video quality and features including GPS, dedicated app,140° viewing, speed camera alerts,.... However, the downsides are (1) It's very small so can be painfully difficult to read/see. (2) You will have to spend more money on SD card. (3) Speed camera alerts updates can only be done using Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac PC.
- Hardware seems decent, robust, good quality, small- Speed limits for a few roads in Helsinki, and likely elsewhere are out of date. (certain changes that took place in 2019 and perhaps earlier), likely to be a problem with other Garmin devices that use the same database.- The Garmin Drive™App is pretty basic, does what is needed but from a premium brand I'd expect a bit more.
The 1440p resolution really helps identify number plates. Using the app to extract footage can be slow so I just pull the SD card and copy the videos with my computer. Overall it works great, far better than my last Kapture dash cam.
I’ve had a few different dashcam systems over the years and this one surprised me. The only thing that disappoints me is it can’t be hardwired. Meaning you can only hide cables until the USB port. But it is a portable unit so it can be easily transferred between vehicles.
I purchased these for my vehicle is expecting Garmin to be a great quality product. I was not disappointed, the footage from these cameras is superb especially of a night-time. I thought of a night you would just get blurry darkness but you can actually see almost better than your eyesight what is going on outside. Truly, a great investment and way, way better than the cheaper units on the Internet
My Garmin 57 was easy to install; it's easy to transfer videos and photos to my iMac by removing the SDXC card or plugging the Garmin dash cam vis the USB. The videos are clear with a good night view, the audio is good, and the music sounds good on the video when I have the car stereo playing. The only thing is it's a little expensive, but it's high quality, nice and small and sturdy.
