OK, I purchased the Z-Mount Nikkor 24mm f1.8 Lens, and I was somewhat disappointed in it's edge sharpness, I purchased it primarily for Nightscape Photography, and some Landscape shooting. So when the Z-Mount Nikkor 20mm f1.8 was announced, and I watched Richard Tatti's Youtube about Shooting Nightscape images with his 20mm f1.8, that convinced me to try it, so I ordered it from Precision Camera in Austin Texas, but had them ship it to a Nightscape Photography Workshop I was attending in Moab, Utah. WOW! My copy is Tack-Sharp from edge to edge, and corner to corner, with NO Coma, and what seems to be Zero CA @ f1.8! Very, Very happy with this lens!I would also like to say that Precision Camera handeled my order and got it shipped out to a different address, with no ... MoreOK, I purchased the Z-Mount Nikkor 24mm f1.8 Lens, and I was somewhat disappointed in it's edge sharpness, I purchased it primarily for Nightscape Photography, and some Landscape shooting. I had a Z 24-70 mm loved it and gave it to my son and he wouldn't take it off from his Z6. It force to to buy this 24mm lens for my Z7. Oh wow. What sharpness and contrast. I can't describe it in thousands words, instead, I post some JPG from Z7 for you to judge by yourself. All taken at f/1.8.(Sorry I had to reduce dimension by 50% and JPEG quality to 80% using ACDSee because 13MB/picture is too much for this website. )

Better lens than anything that came from f-mount in 24mm range. I bought 20mm at first, twice, but returned both times it as it was too large for going small and light. Nikkor z 24mm is much lighter and smaller package. Now I also need new filter system for this lens.Previously I used a Zeiss 28mm f2 zf2 with D800 from day one. And then upgrading to Z7 because of smaller and lighter body. And now I finally upgraded to a lighter and smaller lens also. Did I say I need new filters? I also have Z 50mm 1.8 and Z 85 1.8 lenses but 24 mm remains my main use lens for about 90% of the shots.

I really enjoy the 24-mm field of view. It is pleasing to the eye in my opinion, and it is still very practical. I am always struggling to decide if I prefer 24mm or 35mm for a wider field of view over 50mm.But anyway, this lens is fantastic. It is incredibly sharp, and although I use this to shoot stills, the autofocus is fast and accurate. There is distortion on the outer areas of the frame, which is to be expected. I do not consider myself to be a pixel-peeper by any means, but I have noticed far less chromatic aberration, as compared to the 24mm f/2.8 Ai-S, which I was previously using.
This 24/1.8S a useful lens made by Nikon in China. It is not in the same class as the excellent 50mm/1.8S made in Thailand. This starts with attaching the lens to my Z7 - scratchy and hard. This I experienced with other Chinese made Nikon lenses as well. They may use a different material for the Cr-coating or their tolerances are off.Looking at test results: The lens was very good at the left side of the landscape pictures. The right side was not as good and borderline at or below MTF data. Perhaps I did run a bunch of pictures through my workflow and realized that those are all very good after PS CC2020!Compared to the other excellent lens 24-70/2.8S made in Japan at 2.8 this lens is about equal after workflow ( CC PS 2020 0.6 100% at ISO 64).Summary still a ... MoreThis 24/1.8S a useful lens made by Nikon in China. It is not in the same class as the excellent 50mm/1.8S made in Thailand. This starts with attaching the lens to my Z7 - scratchy and hard. The price is on the high side and I returned it sticking to the excellent 24-70 2.8S.The old AFS 20mm 1.8 is as good on the FTZ.
I read reviews that this lens was not as good as the other f/1.8 z lenses, but when I compare it to the 50 & 85 f/1.8 z lenses that I own I don't see much difference in quality. I'm not an authority, but I have been a Nikon user for over 30 years and I find that all of the z prime lenses that I own are the best I have ever used. I use them on a Z6ii and I can't wait for Nikon to make a mirrorless camera, that isn't over $5,000, that is of the same quality as these lenses.
Really loving this lens. Great image quality from edge to edge, and super quiet and quick auto-focus for video. No problems after a couple months. Haven't had it in any rough conditions, but it is weather sealed and I have no doubt it will perform just fine. Great in low light situations. Would recommend.
Bought this to go with my z5 along with the full line of 1.8 primes. I liked my sigma 1.4 when I had canon but while the zone focus was good I never trusted that lenses to really be in focus on faces from a distance. This one does; the image quality is really quite good. The whole line of 1.8 primes just seems to be one I feel comfortable with and do not worry they won’t do the job.
Really nice wide angle lens. Images are crisp edge to edge. The quality of these Nikon Prime lenses is very high compared to other lenses. I now have two (50mm/1.8 and 24mm/1.8) Nikon Prime lenses and am looking forward to adding a third lens (70mm to 200MM/2.8) to give me the coverage I need.
I wanted this lens primarily for landscape and astrophotography. I realized pretty quickly that it is also highly effective for other applications, including interesting portraits and street shots. The sharpness, contrast, and color rendering are all fantastic. The autofocus (paired with the Z7) is excellent even when shooting at dawn or dusk. The build-quality is certainly sufficient, but is not quite as impressive as the image quality. But, it feels solid, lightweight, and has an easy to manipulate focus ring. If you're not familiar, it may take a bit of time to get use to the electronic focus, but after a few days it's no problem at all. This will be my go-to lens for long-exposure landscape and Milky Way shots. So glad I invested in it.
