OGX Coconut Curls Shampoo 385ml

I have super curly hair. Naturally curly. So I'm always looking for products that mesh with curly hair. I gave up the fight a long time ago ladies. Lol. I only straighten my hair during the cold months because it's pointless otherwise. It's too hot where I live. I spend an hour straightening to have the humidity turn my hair into a panicked frizz within minutes. With this shampoo my hair smells wonderful and helps to keep that curl locked in place with no frizz. It does it's job.

The biggest points of this shampoo line are probably the premium experience through the rich, thick consistency and the pretty fragrance. This would be a nice scent for people who like sweet gourmands. Even though I like citrus, coconut, and honey, and do find the scent nice, I'm not impressed by it. It smells more natural than most out there, which is a plus in my view, but it's quite sweet and rather uninteresting. The consistency is very thick. It can be hard to work it through hair. The performance of the shampoo itself is not great. I think the older batches before the reformulation to exclude the potentially harmful ingredient DMDM hydantoin do make a negative difference. This shampoo is okay, but not great. It smells great, and cleans the products out of my hair very nicely. I originally purchased this shampoo when I decided to break up with my flat iron and embrace my naturally curly hair. It did initially work well and I felt my curls were shaped nicely but still soft and bouncy. But after a few weeks my curls were weighed down stringy and lifeless. Some research into the needs of curly hair helped me to discover that some of the ingredients in this shampoo are not ideal for naturally curly hair. If OGX decides to release a reformulation of this product without silicones or alcohols I would certainly be first inline to try it; but for now It’s just not the right shampoo for me.

I really was hoping this would work for my hair, and as a conditioner, it is actually really good. Rich and moisturising, my curls soaked up the conditioner. The only reason didn't buy it again is because although I have curly hair, it is thin. This conditioner just weighed my hair down too much. Which pulled out some of the curl and I lost some of my volume as well (which having fine hair, I really can't afford to do) However, if you were blessed with thick and curly hair I would recommend giving this a try.

Now I know it’s not made to be a leave in conditioner but it’s actually the best one I’ve ever used. I have my shower and even with conditioning my hair in the shower using another conditioner my hair could use some more moisturizing. This gives my hair so much moisture and it stays the whole day. My hair doesn’t need any curl creams this keeps the hair shiny soft and non frizzy the whole day and honestly I’m obsessed. If only it was slightly cheaper and easier to find in stores because I love it and it would be perfect.

I really love how hydrating it is, but never leaves your hair feeling oily or greasy. I also like that it eliminates frizz and detangles my hair. It’s hard to find a shampoo that does both, usually I’ll have to use another detangling product after using a shampoo to get both results. But I find with this one, I can skip the extra step of having to use another product afterwards. I also really like the smell of this one and actually lingers in your hair after washing it. I hate when I use a shampoo and then the smell goes away immediately. If you like your hair smelling fresh, this is definitely for you! The only thing good about this, for me, is the smell. This is just not a good conditioner IMO. I have long, thick hair. I do not use heat of any kind, deep condition regularly, and get regular trims. All the stores around me stopped selling my HG, so I thought I'd give this a try. I knew immediately I didn't like it (hair felt drier, more coarse frizzy, *super* tangly), but I wasn't going to let it go to waste. After 2 weeks of use I've got split ends! Everywhere! Y'all, I don't get split ends and I just had a trim about 3 weeks before starting use. So, I'm going for a cut tomorrow and throwing the rest of this out! Sorry OGX. Yikes.

When I’d first started my natural hair journey and still applied a bit of heat to my hair this shampoo was amazing! My curls were super soft and lovely. However, that’s because my hair was a bit more heat trained (intentionally loosened my curls) at the time. Now for people with 3c or type 4 curls, this conditioner won’t do much justice for us.

Dose the complete oposite to what it says!!

I brought this product for a cheaper alternative. I was really disapointed with the results and damage ir had done to my hair. It made me lose hair, made my hair dry and frizzy. Although it smells nice its completly ruined my curls and turned them back to frizz. Not a good product. Shea moistuer is amazing!! It is just quite expensive! However it nutures your curls and revitlize them in the long-term.

How can they even sell this

This left my hair badly tangled after washing. It took me several minutes to brush it out, and I lost a LOT of hair. I’m usually one to finish a product before switching to not waste money. I can’t even stick with it for a week. It would probably cause a lot of damage to my hair. I’m seeing the same concerns in other reviews. Very disappointed. I don’t know how they can even sell this stuff.
