Cannot say enough good things about this food. We struggled for so long trying to find the right formula for my dog with allergies. After months of searching, we found this recipe and my dog has never been happier, healthier, and has never gotten so many compliments on his beautiful coat before! It is so shiny, he never has dirty ears, and is never scratching. We are so pleased we found a formula that includes grains that he is not allergic to. We always wanted him on a diet that incorporated grains, and once we narrowed down proteins that he responds well to, there was always other ingredients in the formulas that had grains that he was allergic to. So happy to have found a product that checks all our boxes for nutrition and his allergy needs.

I was excited to find a healthy kibble option that isn’t packed with harmful additives. I was nervous about the price as we are very much a working class family who is on a tight budget. The extremely high reviews assured me it was worth the extra high costs. However, our dogs refuse to eat the food, even with putting bone broth on it and mixing with their old kibble. They smell it and walk away. It looks and smells the same as cheap dog kibble. Maybe it’s not fresh.I’m extremely disappointed as we do not have money to throw away. I requested a refund via the email contact but never heard back. We have two useless dog food bags and are out $145!I do not recommend this dog food, and I’m not sure why others do….

I have 3 pit bull mixes and they all have sensitive stomach’s and allergies. They seem to do well on this food so far, on our 3rd bag. One is extremely picky and has never eaten a full serving at feeding time and is hard to get him to want to eat but he seems to love this food and eats his full portions. Poops are getting more solid and less tummy troubles. I’ve tried countless options and expensive foods and so far this seems to be doing the best. I like the small kibble size too even though my boys are big because it fits in their slow feeders better and slows them down at feeding time even more. They seem shinier and softer after about a month on this food. My one dog still has some skin issues present but less itching and a lot less stomach problems

I changed my dog over to wild caught salmon and ancient grains as she was having a terrible yeast outbreak with redness under her armpits and in her groin area. She also had hives all over her back from being on a chicken based kibble. Vet told me to take her off the kibble and find a food without chicken. The hunt was on and I found Open farm. Haven’t been on the food long enough to know if it’s going to solve the problem. The redness is gone from her armpits and groin area, but she still has bumps on her back. She has only been on this food for 2 weeks. Had no problem switching her over to the salmon. The food is pricey, but so is the vet appointment and medication, so worth a try to see if it works.
I’ve been feeding Leila this recipe for months now and she’s still excited over her meals. There were times I had to keep switching and experimenting which flavour she likes as she’s a picky eater. She had performatrin ultra when she was a pup and got tired of it. Decided to switch to Stella and Chewy but she still didn’t like it. Same with Go! Solutions, didn’t work for her until celinetails from Tiktok introduced me to Open Farms. I would never go back. I also love how transparent they are with the ingredients plus it’s a Canadian brand which I support. Open farms also passed WSAVA guidelines when it comes to selecting on pet food. Our dogs deserve high quality ingredients <3
Not a paid review, or a review from a sample, but When I find something good I have to share it 🩵Sebastians a rescue dog we have had him for two years. Sebastian came to us sick, and full of worms. We looked into them and we were really impressed by the quality of food, the transparency of ingredients and the customer service. So we gave them a shot with VERY little hope. The food came, I opened the bag I was EXTREMELY impressed it literally smelt like a deep sea fishing boat. (not a yummy smell, but the fact that it is what I smelt in a fish based food was reassuring) so we started feeding it.Right away we noticed that the food was actually filling Sebastian up. He was no longer begging for more, or trying to steal our other dogs food. Within a few weeks we noticed his itching was less, and now here we are. Every single digestive enzyme, medicated shampoo, spray etc has been stopped and Sebastian has nearly all of his fur back and He’s calmer (I believe this is because he’s more comfortable). If your dogs struggling with allergies, skin issues and you can’t figure it out I 1000% recommend open farm dog food.
Just started feeding this to my dogs. They seem to like it. My reviews of the products I ordered would be higher if the shipping had been better. The box arrived completely opened and it had only been taped together with one piece of tape on top and one on the bottom. This was a heavy order since I got the 22 lb bag of dog food along with some other things so it was not secured properly. This makes me nervous because if it's going to be shipped. Carelessly, I'm now concerned that the food may be made as carelessly as well. I'm writing this in my review because I've reached out by email two times since February 24th and since today is March 3rd and I've not heard anything back from open farms and they then sent me this survey. Our 1 year Golden just recently came off her spay surgery and wasn’t eating. Was on Purina Pro Plan large breed puppy sensitive skin and stomach due to a chicken allergy. All the other brands have some form of chicken in the first few ingredients. We switched to wild caught salmon & ancient grains hoping to get her food motivated, which she’s always been. Gave 1/4 cup trial run and she munched it down immediately! Safe to say she loves this new food and has gone back to her normal self! We have fully switched already to this line with no problems and love the fact that we can change to other proteins easily to mix it up for her like beef and lamb and better yet not have to worry about any chicken ingredients.
Vashti our husky/shepherd cross has itchy skin and a history of soft poops. We switched to a Hills Science Diet food that targets skin and digestion issues and it helped immensely with her poops but she continued to scratch and nibble her skin constantly. The vet saw no external issues like dry or irritated skin so we wondered if it was a behavioural symptom. Then after some research I started wondering if it was as simple as a sensitivity or allergy to an ingredient so I decided to start by cutting out chicken (as that seems to be a common culprit). I decided to go with Open Farm instead of another Hill's recipe because of the traceability and transparency of their ingredients. We are only one small bag, almost two weeks, into the Salmon and Grains recipe and she is showing huge improvements! Her fur is super soft for one, it has not quite a shine but a soft glow to it, and she is scratching noticeably less. I am hopeful that as time passes and her body adjusts to no chicken we will continue to see progress. Her poops have also seemed to remain fairly consistent and formed, if maybe a little softer than when she was on the Hill's food, but if need be that could likely be remedied by adding an additional prebiotic powder or supplement to her diet. The kibble itself is very small, would be just fine for smaller breeds. I like it because we use her meals for rewards in training so a little goes a long way. Thanks Open Farm :)
I really wanted to love this food since it's hard to find a high-quality grain-inclusive food and they have several chicken-free options, which my dog is sensitive to. It's also a moderate amount of calories per cup. Plus, they seem like a good company and the bags can be recycled. However, she had soft poops for the whole time she was on it (~3 -4 weeks, I hoped she would adjust) and then I switched her off it right away after an instance of bloat, which she's never had before. It's really too bad as I thought I'd found the perfect food, but I think she does better on grain-free, or at least that's just what her digestion is used to. She loved the flavour, which I expected as she loves fish. Kibbles are quite small.
