This was a welcomed surprise! A shaker that you can use for just about any spice or seasoning. I tried mixed pepper, garlic powder, as well as ground up parsley in several meals we cooked in the last several weeks. All of them came and spread out well from the shaker. I also liked the container being see through, which helped with you remembering what you put in it if you mixed several spices :) The container wasn't too big, stood out, and fit in our pantry perfectly. I would definitely recommend.

Adjustable shakers were pretty low on my "Kitchen Essentials" list but I got this product on a whim and it turned out to be the best decision ever! The body is made of glass, which makes it durable and very easy to clean. I also love the visibility of it - you know exactly how much is left in the shaker and when it is time to refill. The adjustable piece makes this product so versatile because it can be used to shake out fine particles, such as cinnamon and powdered sugar, or coarse particles like red pepper flakes. My favorite way to use this product is for finely grated cheese though! I always used to grated a bunch of cheese all at once and store it in a little container in the fridge. The glass body and stainless steel top (with plastic piece underneath) is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but is easy to clean as well! I really like that the top has 3 settings- closed, small set of holes, and large holes, so you can choose the best setting for your needs and then close the top when you're finished using it. The opening of the glass container is large and easy to fill, so no need to use a funnel. The shaker is a decent size and holds quite a bit, while it's also very comfortable to hold and use. The Oxo Good Grips Adjustable Shaker is easy to use and allows me to use it with various spices of different coarseness and size. It opens easily which is good for my hands as I suffer from arthritis. The only somewhat not positive feedback I have is that it is glass. I was surprised when I received it that it was glass. I’m sure glass holds spices longer and keeps them fresh longer but I’ve never liked glass in my kitchen gadgets and such. Having said that, I’ve used my Oxo Good Grips Adjustable Shaker for over a week and really like it, glass and all!
While I’ll typically love every OXO product sometimes there’s just something that need tweaking. For me this shaker didn’t work so well on the fine opening. The larger hole was better. It was easy to get a part to clean. A little trickier getting it back together. Currently been using this for powdered sugar as my kids like it on their waffles and things.
I got this with the intent of putting powdered sugar in it for my toddler who always wants to be independent and giving her an entire bag of it was not working!! This works great for that reason and I love that it has the smaller holes to limit the amount that comes out! It also has bigger holes for things like Parmesan cheese. It just limits the mess of some condiments! Overall, a very handy tool to have around!
I got this product with two specific purposes in mind: for dried red pepper flakes on pizza/pasta and for furikake, a Japanese seasoning. Furikake consists of larger food particles like seaweed flakes and sesame seeds and conventional salt and pepper shakers do not allow for. The OXO adjustable shaker did the job beautifully for both. I also love that it has the adjustable smaller hole option in case I want to switch it for a different purpose altogether and that it can twist shut completely to protect contents when not in use. It is also so sleek and beautiful to be able to leave out on the counter or on the dining table
I use the container for powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon. We make our powdered sugar in a blender and store it in the Zoo container with the pushtop lid. The fine sprinkle setting let's us get just a dusting of powdered sugar. I like that this shaker has a setting for larger holes too. Very versatile! I really love the ability to set the lid to closed!I received this product in exchange for a review. I plan to buy more as soon as I see it in the store!
My Aunt Elizabeth has a yummy recipe for seasoning chicken. It’s a mix of several commercially prepared seasonings: creole, garlic powder, poultry seasoning, onion powder, oregano to taste.I needed a shaker that was wide enough not to require a funnel (because well, it’s a pain to spoon powdery spices into a small opening...)This one washed well in the dishwasher and holds a large quantity of a spice mix.I’d also use it for powdered sugar or a mix of cinnamon and sugar.
It was time to wrangle our large number of spices. We got everything into 3 spice racks and use these for sea salt, black pepper and cinnamon which we use the most. I like these more than I thought I would. They're just enjoyable to use. They feel nice in your hand and its easy to switch between fine/coarse/open lid. I'm probably going to get a couple more for garlic powder and red pepper.
