OXO Good Grips - Box Grater

I registered for the OXO Good Grips Box Grater on my wedding registry and was lucky enough to receive it for a bridal shower gift. After a year and a half of regular use, it still looks brand new, a testament to the OXO Good Grips design. The grater itself functions well, with 4 different graters - coarse, medium, fine and slicing. The coarse is great for grating block cheese for melting into recipes or sprinkling onto tacos and other dishes. The fine is medium and fine are great for zesting citrus or grating herbs like ginger. The grater itself functions well, with 4 different graters - coarse, medium, fine and slicing. The coarse is great for grating block cheese for melting into recipes or sprinkling onto tacos and other dishes. The fine is medium and fine are great for zesting citrus or grating herbs like ginger. The slicing side provides even slices of cheese, great for topping burgers or serving with crackers. The attachable container is great for quickly measuring out what you grate, as you grate it. I do not often use the attachment, but it is convenient for grating amounts less than 1 cup. All pieces can be washed in the dishwasher. This is a great gift for the new homeowners or newlyweds in your life or even yourself. This is a reliable grater at a reasonable price. This was definitely one of the highlights of my bridal shower gifts, my husband loves cheese! I don't know how we would have survived without it!

Flimsy & easily replaced with a better model

This grater worked just fine. It got the job done. But the metal is so flimsy, I was nervous it was going to break whenever I shredded something sturdier like a carrot. We ended up getting another grater after about 10 months with this one because there’s a black plastic inner lining at the top of the grater that food kept getting stuck under. We had to remove the liner to clean the grater, and over time, this made the overall integrity of the grater compromised. Hard to clean, poor quality, and broke before a year was up.

Great Grater

Bought this grater to replace my old blunt grater. Really pleased with how it grates cheese, vegetables, fruit etc, without applying a lot of pressure. The plastic dish collects the grated food without making a mess all over the worktop. This fits neatly inside the grater when not in use. A very well made product worth its price. Careful attention is needed when using and washing it, as it's quite sharp.

Great designed little Box Grater ...

Great product and sturdy design. with a rubber seal round the base which will help prevent scratches on the worktops. It also has a comfortable grip on the handle.I particularly liked that it had a detachable little box with lid which l can use to keep surplus grated cheese fresh for use another time.Overall this little Box Grater meets my needs and I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

Great quality grater

Pros: Nice and sturdy, has a great rubber handle for grip. Great quality steel, and super easy to clean. The box catcher comes with a lid, which is really convenient, to save leftover food in.Cons: The only con, is that when grating food with the box box catcher, is that a lot of the food also falls outside of it whilst grating. Makes for extra cleanup. I used to grate on a plate, which caught everything, I will probably continue doing this, when grating foods like cheese.

Honey, they shrank the grater

My old OXO grater is a workhorse, which is why I needed to get a new one: I'd worn down the cutting edges. My new grater was something of a shock. It's narrower, straighter (rather than angled slightly). The base of the metal grating section has shrunk from 4-1/2" to 4-1/8"—same width as the top of the grating section. This may not sound like much but it makes a difference in the balance. That nicely balanced angle is gone. Had I purchased this in the store, I might have noticed the new shape and thought twice. But this was an online order, and honestly, I didn't notice a difference in the photo. Have to say I'm a little disappointed in OXO, which I don't remember ever saying before. The resizing and reshaping of the product is more annoying, and the reason it got 4 stars instead of 5. I will keep it, because this is a good grater, at a good price. I don't recommend

I wanted to like this product. It is a good price and a good design sort of. I like the way the box fits inside the grater for storage. However having only used micro plane graters up until now I think this is not a very good grater. It does not work on the fine side for lemon pith or Parmesan for example. Simply not sharp enough so I will be having to purchase a fine micro plane grater as well so it's a waste of money as I wanted it for fine grating more than for the coarser sides. And I should've listened to the people who said that when you use it even though there is a box to collect the food it all comes out over the edges so you still need to grate it over a board or plate .

Strudy and does decent grating job for most tasks.

Grates reasonably well, is large enough to scrap in the inside with a knife or small spatula to get the remaining gratings. The small container for catching works well and is sturdy enough when used on the kitchen counter. The smallest grating size seems too small in my opinion, I don't see too many things that would use this side of the grater.

Sturdy and well made

Really nice and sturdy grater - was a great replacement for the flimsier one we had at home. The rubber base grounds it and prevents it from slipping if you're grating directly onto a chopping board, and the handle is equally sturdy. I love the container that catches the grated content, but I do wish there was a more practical way to store the lid - a bit worried that it will get lost, as it doesn't clip in to the larger design in the same way that the container does.

makes my old grater look like a fisher price toy

The quality is this grater is amazing. i assumed all graters were more or less the same before i bought this but wow was i wrong! My old grater is like a fisher price toy compared to the Oxo grater. This one is so much nicer with features I didn’t even know I was missing until now.I love the soft grip handle and rubber base that provides excellent stability while shredding. The lid for the bottom container makes storing any extra cheese a breeze if you shred too much. it’s a nice size, bigger than i was expecting yet easily stores in cabinet even with the container attached. All parts are dishwasher safe.I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!
