OXO Good Grips Little Salad & Herb Spinner

I asked for this salad spinner for Christmas and didn't receive it. Can you imagine my disappointment opening presents and noting its absence?So I took it upon myself and ordered it as a New Year gift. It has not failed to delight. I now no longer have to resign to soggy, wet salad leaves - or worse, not washing my salad leaves in the absence of a salad spinner. I can make friends with salad, and I do on a daily basis, and now my salads are elevated and excellent with special thanks to my trusty salad spinner. Coincidentally it never gets put away because it's always put to work: lunch, dinner - what's next? Breakfast salad.Highly recommend. 10/10 would buy again.

Recently and suddenly during a spinning session, the pumping arm of our 20-year-old Zyliss salad spinner broke off. The thin plastic edge of the arm was way too thin for applying glue as repair. Jumping online to research the current test favourite brought up the OXO Salad Spinner, featuring a completely different pumping mechanism. Being long-time OXO fans, we tracked down the large size that we wanted at Cook Culture in Vancouver, picked it up, and have been happily spin-drying lettuce leaves ever since. The vertical pump feels comfortable under the hand, and a fast speed is quickly achieved. We're confident that like our other OXO kitchen tools, this spinner will last forever.

Excellent Salad Spinner

Really useful sturdy addition to the kitchen. The button to stop the spinning is a good idea and the outside bowl can be used as a salad dish for the table too. The one I bought is the largest size, so quite large, but I think smaller sizes of the same design are available. I would 100% recommend.

Good quality salad spinner

Well designed salad spinner. Like the functionality to stop it from spinning and the fact you can lock the handle down for easy storage. Great size for making salads for the family

How do you clean it?

It is good at drying a lot of salad or vegetables, but it does take up a lot of room on the counter or in a cupboard. The biggest negative for me is that it seems impossible to clean the central mechanism. Over time water collects and turns black because there is no way to drain it or dry it out. I have gone back to using the cheap plastic jug spinner, all of which can be put in the dishwasher

Not value for money

Sturdy construction but this just doesn't spin fast enough to dry lettuce and doesn't really offer value for money. Bought it to replace a cheapo plastic spinner I'd purchased about 20 years ago for maybe $4 or $5 from a well-known Swedish multinational conglomerate; even in its final days, despite bits falling off, that spinner worked much, much better than this thing. The OXO looks nice though.

Excellent product. Well made and does a very good job of removing excess water. Pump to spin can be pressed with hand or gently with foot. The bowl is a nice size so when the basket is removed it can also be used to serve the prepared salad Also when finished spinning the Pump is lowered flush with lid so the bowl can also be used to refrigerate spun greens until ready to dress salad and serve.

This is a replacement for the same one I have had for many years that I dropped and cracked.,Great mechanism, spins fast and stops quickly using a brake. Large capacity. Can manage a large bag of spinach easily. Easy rinse and clean. Perfect product really. Excellent service fromHarts Of Stur with prompt delivery. This item was £5 cheaper than in John Lewis.

Ok but...

This salad spinner was bought to replace the John Lewis own-brand one which was so annoying I was glad when it broke after about a year. This does it's job fine but has one REALLY annoying feature: the spinning mechanism sits in a big unit under the lid. When you out the lid on you squash the salad. So your options are not putting much salad in it (which defeats the point of having a large spinner) or you have to try and arrange your lettuce around the outside of the bowl. Honestly life is too short. The search for the perfect salad spinner goes on.

Very easy to use

I use salad spinners for washing all sorts of veg and my old one collapsed on me.This is much better quality, it feels very robust - love the spinning function and fast stop button. Also like the clear bowl - it could be used as the actual container for outdoor summer salads. Thumbs up from me.
