When I saw the Ad about a Cook Store coming to Parksville I was excited to visit and see what it is like. No more trips to Nanaimo and Qualicum. I was not disappointed! I love the simplicity of the layout. There is plenty of room to see the displays. They are very well organized into various categories. And best of all, no clutter. It made me feel like buying another cast pan right away. And best of all to have variety. It makes me feel like cooking! And the knife display on the beans was so innovative. And I might also add, knowledgeable staff.

I love this mandoline. Great value for the price. I had tried one from Home Depot....took it back. I've used it on cucumbers for pickles and salads plus brussel sprouts so far. The only thing I have a concern about is the spring-loaded holder; I feel like I can't get farther to the end of the product, but because I don't use it on a daily basis it's really not a big problem. It's also easy to clean. Beware it is very sharp.

The only mandoline that I have ever felt is safe to use because you never need to touch the blade or have multiple blades to handle. I LOVE this little handy SIMPLE device. Slices potatoes, onions - everything in seconds and super easy to use. One fixed blade with adjustments on the tool; easy store food guide underneath. To ensure safety for storing, I put a round rubber grip (made for opening jars) overtop the blade with a rubber band around the body. Works great for extra safety - wish some kind of blade cover would come with it, although it does have a lock position. I use this product daily! Great for anyone with arthritis or hand/finger cramping and makes cooking a breeze - and FUN at last!

I love this. Easy to use and I don't even have to touch the blades to change the cut. Perfect! I've had three others and threw them away because they either didn't work or were too complicated. So glad I found this. I don't think you will be disappointed if you try this one.
We tried various vegetables and have come to the feeling that this is potato slicer. It does that quite well. I believe that it would also be safer than other mandolines.
Tried for first time slicing onions. Quick as with food processor and lovely slices. Impressed and pleased. Only negative is I have not mastered getting the end piece as nice, and that’s probably my fault. I wish I had something to slip over blade to make me feel safer as I tuck away. Definite plus in kitchen.

While only two days in my possession I can say it is well constructed and works great except for one fairly significant flaw. I am male of average build and hand size yet the holder is difficult to grasp and securely hang on to. The circumference of the grip area seems much larger than needed. Add to that the super smooth glossy finish and perfectly round shape and it will slip out of your hand fairly easily. Given OXO's reputation for technical design, I am surprised at how difficult it is to "hold the holder". Can't imagine someone with smaller hands being able to use this. I purchased this mandoline to replace another one that no longer had the extra piece attaching to food to hold it in place while slicing. This one works even better than my older one, with several options for width of slicing. I really like the large knob that holds the food in place which makes it even less likely to slice a finger when using. The mandoline is nice and sharp making slicing food quick and easy. I also like the stand that elevates it for a proper positioning and stabilizing. I would definitely buy this mandoline again.
Reasonably priced. Glad I purchased it. Would have liked a coarser julienne option, but that probably would have added to complexity and price. Pusher is relatively easy to use and safe. Works fine with larger vegetables, but not so well trying to slice a carrot into rounds.
This has turned out to be a very useful device in the kitchen, especially for making tian, a layered potato/zucchini/tomato thing. Have also used it for freshly made sweet-potato fries. The only downside there is that the non-BPA plastic is prone to picking up color from such foods. With prompt washing and a scrubby, most of the staining comes out, but it's a bit of a pain. When I save up enough for a stainless-steel mandolin, I think I will go that route instead. But for the time being, this is a good device for the price.
