Besides the obvious facts about how fast this flash drive is, which I'm sure other reviews will talk about, I wanted to take a moment and mention some of the other aspects. This flash drive looks and feels extremely durable. Some drives just feel flimsy but this one, after handling it for just a moment, makes you realize "okay, my data is actually safe from the everyday wear and tear that everything is inevitably going to go through". The drive has a very professional aesthetic to it, and is still able to pull off looking stylish. It even has a slot for a keychain ring. It fits nicely into any device without fear of it being weighted down. On the far edge of the drive, it displays "Samsung" with that same professional style to it. I would highly recommend this line ... MoreBesides the obvious facts about how fast this flash drive is, which I'm sure other reviews will talk about, I wanted to take a moment and mention some of the other aspects. I had the 128GB USB 3.0 FiT Drive since 2020 and it's excellent but I wanted more space and consolidate my important documents and music files. This drive is excellent and fast. I used BitLocker and I'm surprised it's almost as fast as the advertised speeds. I moved 70GB of music files and it only to 6.5 mins to copy over. After that I added an additional 30GB to the drive and it moved fast af felt like 3 minutes to me. Definitely reliable for my emulator memory cards as well. Definitely recommend getting this drive on sale for a much better value. I have 94.7GB left so that's definitely enough for me. I have the 128GB drive as a separate drive and a 8GB SanDisk drive as a USB key for the 256GB drive.

Drive is unreliable. Failed after 2 weeks, first requiring several file save attempts, then it could not be written to at all. Drive remains readable, so I got my data off it and onto a PNY drive.Reported this to Samsung so they can fix and clean their stock.Replaced with the PNY 256gb USB 3.0 drive (200mbps), which comes formatted as FAT32, not exFAT like the Failed Samsung. Working great, with no errors. I recommend this model until Samsung fixes the problem, and changes the design color so we know we have the improved model.Beware of the 2nd worst model - the SanDisk 256gb USB 3.1. It gets hot, like almost all SanDisk Fit-sized drives, and fails completely - according to 15 percent of reviews.I must admit, I never liked PNY before due to sluggish ... MoreDrive is unreliable. this drive fits way to tight, requiring me to brace my laptop while inserting and removing it. it almost feels as if it's expanding the usb port from all the pressure the drive exerts on it, something that doesn't at all settle well with me when using on expensive laptops. it'd be a real shame to have a port fail because of the bulkiness of this drive.i have a couple older verbatim drives that are ever so slightly tight while inserting, and then click into place just right. they also have a minimal housing enclosure which can make them a bit tricky to get out. however, the housing has beveled grooves that run around the outer edge that can be easily gripped with a fingernail. also, their low profile allows a laptop to be stored into a sleeve without ... Morethis drive fits way to tight, requiring me to brace my laptop while inserting and removing it. it almost feels as if it's expanding the usb port from all the pressure the drive exerts on it, something that doesn't at all settle well with me when using on expensive laptops. it'd be a real shame to have a port fail because of the bulkiness of this drive.i have a couple older verbatim drives that are ever so slightly tight while inserting, and then click into place just right. they also have a minimal housing enclosure which can make them a bit tricky to get out. however, the housing has beveled grooves that run around the outer edge that can be easily gripped with a fingernail. also, their low profile allows a laptop to be stored into a sleeve without removal.thank you and good day.
Files not recognized by current Honda CR-V - recognizes something in USB port but cannot access files. Tried formating for different file types including ExFat, nothing works. Not sure if it's a Honda problem or Samsung problem. I tried the Sandisk Ultra Fit USB flash drive and it works fine with Honda. Anyone else know how to use with Honda?
I bought this solely because of the very compact form factor. My new car has a USB port for audio files but a standard thumb drive would protrude into an area where it could potentially be damaged or even possibly damaging the port itself. This small thumb drive is perfect in size and capacity. Samsung makes good stuff so I expect this will last as long as the car does... if not longer.
I received this today. This comes formated as ExtFat. Though it is 256gb with the formatting and file size it can hold as little as 180gb of data when storing large number of small size files as each will utilize 128k of space in this format. Speed was about 30-35mb/sec when writing to the drive. read was about 180mb/sec. I reformatted it with NTFS at 4096 bytes. Write speed in tests went to 160mb/sec for non-text files. With text type files when writing large quantity of files drops to 95-100mb/sec. Read transfer was increased to 225mb/sec. I am utilizing a Dell E5450 I7 laptop that is 3 years old for this. This flash drive greatly exceeded the Sandisk UltraFit flash drive. I have both and use both. This is larger that the UltraFit by about 33% on the external part ... MoreI received this today. This is larger that the UltraFit by about 33% on the external part mostly in width. If running videos from this versus over the Internet performance was excellent. I am very pleased with the performance I noted on this. If you see performance lagging in Windows then you need to change the Drive Removal Policy from quick removal (default) t Better Performance for higher performance. Once you do this you cant just pull the drive out, you have to click eject on it to end writes to the drive, but performance goes up significantly.I will update later with further information.
I bought 3 of the 128g flash drives since I like the Samsung brand, unfortunately I should have performed more research. I purchased last year in Oct. 1 of the 3 that I purchased stopped working the instant I tried using it, the 2nd stopped working properly after roughly 6 months, it started disconnecting constantly to the point where it was unusable. I will not be purchasing these again.
i kept this drive in the usb port of my computer for about two months. the drive was left in the usb port as suggested in the boilerplate. media was bitlocker encrypted. after tow months of occasional use (maybe once a week), the drive reports "no media". all attempts to access the drive have failed - on several different pc's. it looks like the controller chip cannot talk to the nand memory chip. as a result, i have a working usb flash drive with no storage memory. for all of this drives supposed physical durability, it sure failed quickly and quietly. waterproof? x-ray proof? how about able to withstand normal use. good thing it's waterproof, because it's going in the toilet! do not trust your data to this device!
I'm not sure if this move was the right move, but after my 4TB external hard drive has been failing due to corrupted sectors, I decided to grab one of these as a secondary back up storage for my Mac mini until I decide what to do next. It seems to work pretty well so I'm giving it 5 stars. I'm planning on buying about 5 more in different sizes as back up storages since I'm prone to losing flash drives.
