Big, heavy, and very comfortable

This thing is not small when rolled-up, and not light, so don't plan for it to be your backpacking pad. But it is verrrrry comfortable. If you're mostly car camping or have a second pad for backpacking then I highly recommend it. Both sides of the pad inflate making the total thickness better than any pad I've had before. And Sea to Summit's inflating bag makes it easy to inflate--about 1.5 bags-full for each side. The only reason for four stars instead of five is the rolled-up size and total weight.

I am VERY picky about my sleeping gear and can't comfortably sleep on most camp mats. Mostly because I am a side sleeper and throughout the night I will rotate from my left shoulder, right shoulder, back, left shoulder again, etc. Every hour or so I am rotating, otherwise, my shoulders get sore.PROS: This camp mat was padded enough to keep me comfortable as I would roll in my sleep and I never felt my shoulder hit the ground. It was also insulated well enough to keep me very warm throughout the night. Conditions were around 40-45 degrees at night and it did great. Haven't tested it in colder weather yet. I also found it REALLY simple and fast to inflate and deflate. Also, the valves were great for fine-tuning the inflation level. When I would move, there was no mistaking it and my other three family members in my tent could hear it. Was it so loud they couldn't sleep? No. They mostly slept through it, but I noticed it and it was a sort of annoying. No one want's to sound like they're making balloon animals every time they turn over in their bed at night. Seems that the material could be further refined to return noise.

Used this for the first time on a beach-camping weekend. It is extremely easy to inflate using the airbag that is super-conveniently incorporated into the stuff sack. Sleeping on my back, I was completely off the ground. A bit of contact on hips and shoulders when side-sleeping, but better than my previous pad and still quite comfortable. The temperatures were fairly warm (around 60F), so not a challenging test, but I did not feel any loss of body heat through the ground. It deflates quickly and is easily packed back into its sack. Light and small. I am very happy with it.

Great choice
7 March 2023

I bought this pad in the summer of 2022. I used it for a a September backpacking trip in PA (IYKYK, the weather can fluctuate a lot in the fall!), and used it with a just a liner. I sleep warm and on my side and it did very well in terms of comfort and temp as it was a mild night. I used it again in November 2022 and March of 2023 where the nighttime temps were in the high 20s and was very warm. I am 6’1” 155lbs and chose the larger size and would do it again in a heartbeat. Love how it is compartmentalized to dial in the right level of comfort, very packable, and easy to inflate with the stuff sack/pump sack combo. It didn’t bother me but I figured I would bring it up since my girlfriend said she could hear it in her tent. Overall, highly recommend!

Great sleeping pad, somewhat bulky
9 April 2021

The sleeping pad is solid, and comfortable.GOODS:I've used it only on a 2 day hike so far, but the night low temps of ~40F allowed me to have an idea of the insulating properties of the pad. It was good, I wasn't cold. The inflation system is very nice, and the two valves with perpendicular positioning are great, fast to open, precise to adjust, and out of sight when sleeping. Overall, GREAT!Regarding the comfort, the pad I have is a wide + long and the 25in width make a significant difference in comfort levels, much better than 21in pads. I also could sleep on the side and the stomach without ever touching the ground. (I'm not super heavy though, 5.10ft, 165lbs). I could have taken the 'regular' but it is unfortunately not available in wide (25in); only 21in.BADS:This is also the reason why I'm taking a star off: The pad is unnecessarily long, like way too long (about 1/2 ft longer than other 'long' pads) which can be nice for particularly tall guys, but in my case added a little more bulk than I wish to carry. It is regrettable tat Sea-to-summit doesn't have a reg+wide for that one. Finally, S2S made the choice to keep the stuff sac very small to keep the pad rolled tight. But this make it actually hard to stuff it back inside, when packing up. (And I suspect that it may be bad for the pad to stay tightly rolled while in storage, and would recommend taking it out at home)

Great surprise
19 February 2022

I was looking for another sleep pad for weekend backpacking and read many reviews and decided to try this sleep pad. I was surprised how comfortable this pad is!!! I am a side sleeper and had no issues sleeping on my side with my hip or should touching the ground. I enjoyed the 25 inch width and feel it will now be hard to go back to a 20 inch width pad. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is this pad is heavier than other pads but I feel the comfort is a fine trade off for me. I like the duel chambers to fill up and micro adjustment features of the pad as well. I would recommend this pad for the weekend backpacking trip but may suggest a lighter pad if your trip is longer than two nights

Lightweight packable comfort
25 November 2022

My wife and I purchased these sleeping pads in 2015 to use for backpacking, but we have found them so comfortable that we use them for car camping too. They are easy/quick to inflate and deflate, roll up easy and take up little room in a car or backpack. As for comfort, I've read reviews saying they aren't so hot for side sleepers. My wife and I both find them very comfortable--but I'd note that our sleep mattress at home is rated extra firm. When the temps dip down into the 30s or below, we also use a closed cell foam pad under the Sea-to-Summit pads. As I noted, these are now the pads we use whenever we camp, and we've had no failures over the 7 years we've used them. We think they are great and will keep on enjoying their comfort and ease of use.

Most comfortable pad I’ve used
5 March 2023

Had purchased multi pads per reviews of most comfortable. Woke up during the night with lower back pain and never fell back asleep. Purchased this from REI Reused site and was surprised how easy it was to inflate. Do follow the inflation instructions concerning the bag pump. Practice before you go hiking/camping.Woke the next morning without waking up through the night or lower back pain! I have used it a dozen times since with no back pain. I would recommend to place a thin blanket over pad in colder temps. As the cold air in the pad will transfer through the sleeping bag to your body. At least, this happened to me.

This is the most comfortable pad I have used. I can sleep on my side, back or stomach! The stuff sack doubles to inflate the pad and it's insanely easy and fast. It packs up very quickly in the morning and is very easy to get all the air out in one go. I love this pad. It is a bit wide, so its snug in our 2P backpacking tents but thats what makes it so comfy as well. It's heavier than most pads but that's a trade off I'll make any day. Sleep is so important to me in the backcountry, I'll carry a little extra to be well rested.

luxury comfort at the cost of weight
21 August 2022

This sleeping pad is very comfortable due to its two-layer design. Unlike single chamber models, you can inflate its lower layer to the max and be off the ground/rocks and half-inflate the top layer to have soft comfortable support for your body. It is not squeaky or slippery or noisy like many other models. Its main drawbacks are: weight and packed size. Its size when inflated is awesome - in the luxury range.
