In any case, after these connections, everything worked easily, including the WiFi connection from the subwooofer to the rest of the soundbar. Now if I could only figure out how to go streaming, possibly with a small antenna for “free” local channels.

This unit has amazing sound in all three ranges. To avoid bothering neighbours I always keep the subwoofer in half volume though.I like the minimalistic design and the wireless subwoofer. It has voice button in case you want to hear the conversations clearly. I recommend lossles formats like FLAC or at least 320kbps MP3 to hear the best quality.I connected my TV through optical cable and I used an old phone with KODI app to play music from home network. You don't need a hometheater receiver. Listening to christmass playlist now!

I've been looking for an upgrade path from 2.1 for a while, and not having the forethought to install cabling in the floor when renovating the house, it could well have been a disaster. With the plethora of Bluetooth devices around I'd expected more wireless options to be around, but sadly there are not. It took a while to find this Sony example and first impressions are that it was worth the wait. As others have said, this is not full 5.1, but it comes close, especially if your room is mall - medium (mines 5m x 4 m), it fills the space well. Base is more than adequate, the Sub copes with everything well, and the centre speakers are clear for voice. The TV is a Sony Bravia, so synchronization is straightforward, and so far no other gremlins have appeared to affect the appreciation of the system. I would definitely recommend this setup as a workable alternative to a wired system, but it won't compete with an AV Receiver and wired speakers. However, it is still something amazing in the wireless department. If you see the system, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Good but needs a little more oomph

I got this on Friday, it replaced a tcl alto 6+ that had issues with the sub and was returned. On to this Sony. Sound quality is good, you can hear it pretty clearly in my opinion. However, if you want a lot of bass, look elsewhere. I’m a little let down by the bass, even with the sub turned to full volume it will hit a little, but I’ve heard other more inexpensive sound bar systems that did it just a bit better on that front. That said, it’s Sony, and the sound is clear for watching TV/movies.One thing I had issues with was setup. I’m a computer tech and can usually figure these things out. Pulled it out of the box and hooked it up via hdmi arc. But my tcl TV would NOT detect it and kept saying I was in stereo mode, and wouldn’t play sound (I have TV speakers turned off).I ended up following the instructions in the manual to securely link the sub to the sound bar, keep in mind I don’t usually need to use the manual. However doing that didn’t fix it.I finally found something in the manual about programming the remote to work with the TV. I didn’t see anything online about that, and I don’t feel the manual made that clear. But I eventually figured it out by tinkering with it, so another star off for that.Sony, you need to make sure people are aware of that. Sony is usually known for quality, and honestly even the tcl sound bar at less than half the price was set up and running in about 5-10 minutes, whereas with this one I was looking through the manual trying different things to get it working, so that took a bit of time for something I feel should have worked out of the box or at least been documented better. So I did ding an extra couple of points for ease of use. Once it’s set up it’s fine, but keep the manual to refer to later on.Overall, if you want a clear sound, this is ok, just don’t expect the bass to blow you out of the house. I got the 4 year warranty on this so if anything goes wrong on it I’m covered at least.I would say this is an ok value on sale like I got it for. For the regular price, not bad but shop a bit before buying in my opinion.

Good sound for the price, issue with older BRAVIA
3 December 2022

The sound bar provides very nice surround sound with nice bass...really enhances the overall viewing experience. The only issue I have is that it won't work with the optical audio output of our older Sony Bravia tv. I've tried very configuration of optical and HDMI connection and nothing works. I was able to get the sound bar working by using the optical audio output of our HD PVR, which is not ideal as we can only use the sound bar with content from the HD PVR with this configuration. The bluetooth function is nice as now we can stream from other digital devices as well, usually audio content from our phones. We're planning to upgrade to a X90K TV shortly so the connection issue will be moot as the new TV will have bluetooth and eARC functionality.

Great sound bar for reasonable price!

Needed a sound bar for our townhouse basement that we haven’t hung out in for a while even though it has a nice Sony 55” flatsceen hung up & an extremely comfortable sectional couch. Was contemplating the Sonos Beam Gen 2 but didn’t want to spend that much money if I didn’t have to. After careful consideration, I chose this one. Set up was very simple via the optical cable & despite moving the sub woofer around several times it syncs up automatically fine (each time). This thing provides a very robust sound (volume wise) & provides a very good sound stage/soundscape for whatever you’re watching. We’ve watched several eps of S5 Breaking Bad, first ep of Moon Knight, ep 10 of Bel Air, S3 ep 3 of Atlanta, and Raiders of the Lost Ark with this new sound bar & it does a ... MoreNeeded a sound bar for our townhouse basement that we haven’t hung out in for a while even though it has a nice Sony 55” flatsceen hung up & an extremely comfortable sectional couch. My only criticism is I wish the sub woofer kicked a little more especially since its almost the size of a CPU but it does an adequate job. I tested the subwoofer with the symphony explosion scene in Tenet & a couple of scenes in Blade Runner 2049. The sub woofer did a satisfactory job but not spectacular. I wasn’t sure this was a keeper but it definately is. Highly recommend this sound bar if you’re budget minded.

Sony HTS 350 Soundbar Review
30 January 2022

I purchased this sound bar to use along with my Sony X80H television. The sound produced by the television speakers is adequate but not that great. To Sony's credit the television does have an on screen equalizer that allows for adjustment of specific frequencies low to high but my experience thus far is that it does not significantly improve the sound quality. Thus my purchase of the sound bar. After purchasing this sound bar it got me thinking about the topic of sound quality and what that means exactly. Hopefully there are some audiophiles or sound experts that can offer some comments and information on that topic. The sound bar is certainly an improvement over the television speakers but from my point of view is some what disappointing overall. The sound bar appears to do pretty well with mid range frequencies but does not do very well with the low frequency bass sound appearing to lack the power and/or ability to produce the low frequency sounds with authority. There is a button on the remote to increase subwoofer volume but that does not help much in my opinion. I believe the specifications indicated that the system is rated for 200 hz to 20 khz. If the system were rated down to the 20 to 50 hz range that might improve the ability of the system to produce those low frequencies. There are also buttons on the remote that I assume adjust frequencies depending on the type of program you may be watching but they don't seem to make much difference in my opinion in terms of overall sound quality either. This system is a 2.1 system with a left and right speaker in the bar and a separate wireless subwoofer. My old Sony DVD player 5.1 system is far better in terms of overall sound quality. The 2.1 system is lacking in terms of its ability to "project" sound towards the listener as well as vertically and has somewhat of a "flat" sound to it as well as not providing the type of "stereo" sound that I expected. As the cost of this system was $279.99 plus tax this system it totaled out at just about $300.00 so not cheap but not too expensive either. On the positive side of things the system is easy to install and works well with the television allowing the tv remote to turn the sound bar on and off automatically. As noted in other reviews you will need to purchase an HDMI cable which is not included with the sound bar. Also it might have helped if Sony included an ability with the sound bar similar to the television for manual adjustment of specific frequencies via an on screen equalizer. Regarding the sound quality issues noted in my review the sound produced is also a function of how good the audio files are. Since I like to stream movies, music etc. if the audio files are not that good then naturally the sound quality from the sound bar will not be that good either. Overall I still like Sony Products. If you are looking for a basic sound bar you may want to consider this product but I would recommend looking at and listening to others as well (and yes I went to 2 stores to listen to the sound bar before I purchased it - 1st store sound bar was not working). If you have the budget you may wish to look at multi speaker systems such as 5.1 and others. I would suggest also asking about the frequency range of the system to ensure it can reproduce sounds from 20 hz to 20 khz. Have a great day!

This is the worst sounding bar I’ve ever heard
11 May 2022

I can’t underscore how awful this product sounds. As an audiophile who was looking to spruce up a spare room, I somehow found this sounding worse than the TV’s built-in speakers.Honestly, everything about this product is terrible—most notably the sound quality. A tinny, almost non-existent high end distorts the sound through each sound profile. The bare-bones remote gives no ability to customize or EQ anything, other than adjusting the subwoofer volume (which, I confess, sounds okay). On a whim, I replaced this with the comparably-priced Vizio V-Series sound bar that sounds WORLDS better AND includes rear speakers, a line-in, and all the EQ and customization controls you’d expect.Whatever you do, do not buy this product.

Would not work with new Sony TV using HDMI/ARC
18 August 2021

I had to purchase a new Sony soundbar because my previous Sony sound bar quit working after two and a half years. I had a Geek Squad protection plan and I was given a Sony HTS350 as a replacement. Apparently there is something malfunctioning between the HTS350 and certain Sony TVs such as the XR X90J. My HTS350 soundbar would not produce sound when connected to the new XR X90J TV using the HDMI and ARC port. Trouble shooting, the soundbar was tested on numerous Sony TVs and on other brands at the store. On some of them it would work and most of them (Sony) it would not. I therefore had to return it and select another brand. On a positive note, the HTS350 sound bar did work when using an optical cable. The sound quality was above average and I liked the convenience of the multiple sound presets. The remote control was easy to use but you will need to keep the User Guide handy if you are attempting to do any special configurations routinely.
