Mandelic acid exfoliates the skin by accelerating cell turnover, which in turn improves the overall texture and tone of skin If your skin is dull and has a rough texture, it will help to smooth the surface and brighten your complexion all while fighting off fine lines and wrinkles It's gentler on sensitive skin types as it has a larger molecule size compared to most other AHAs, which doesn't allow it to penetrate as deeply, ultimately making it less irritating for those with reactive skin Gentle and suitable for all skin types including the most sensitive skin Product does not have a safety seal Apply once per day, ideally in the PM. Can be diluted with other treatments to reduce strength until skin develops tolerance. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation persists, discontinue use and consult a physician. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration. Mandelic Acid 10% + HA offers superficial dermal peeling that is gentler than other alpha hydroxy acids. The molecular weight of mandelic acid is 152.1 daltons which is larger than other alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic acid is 76.0 daltons, for example). This larger size allows mandelic acid to penetrate the skin more slowly which in turn makes it very gentle and suitable for all skin types including the most sensitive skin. You don't need a concentration of more than 10%, because then you would simply be achieving an indirect peeling strength that is more easily offered through lower percentages of glycolic acid.

I only just started using this product about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I've been using it once per week. The first time I noticed that my face felt a bit like I had a wind burn or something, for about 2 days after. The next times I noticed it too, but less, and I also took care to use extra hydrating moisturizers. My skin is remarkably soft after using it, and for several days after. I'm hoping it will help with acne/texture etc. Haven't noticed much difference yet, but I expect that when I can build up to using it 2x a week it will be more effective.I would recommend that a new user use it like a mask a few times first--leaving it on for like 20 minutes or so, before using it for a full overnight.

GREAT for beginners and those new to chemical exfoliation!

I absolutely love this product, I'm here to purchase my fourth or fifth bottle. I initially bought this because I read that mandelic acid is very gentle and a great introduction to chemical exfoliants if you have never used them before. That was exactly my experience! This product is incredibly gentle on the skin. I have extremely dry skin, and my skin is also very acne-prone and sensitive. This product does NOT dry out my skin in the slightest, and it has worked absolute WONDERS for my break outs! After the first couple of weeks using this product, my skin was noticeably softer and my texture was dramatically reduced. This product has made my skin brighter, as well as softer, and my break outs have been dramatically reduced. If you are new to chemical exfoliants and are hesitant, DON'T BE!! :)Note: I have tried other chemical exfoliants recently, like the exfoliating treatment from Good Molecules, but that one is much more harsh and it burns/stings my face. This product is the best of the best, gentle but super effective.

Great for my acne-prone, fairly sensitive skin

TL;DR - use a small amount and it won’t feel too “oily”, simplify your routine, and this can work great for acne and acne scars!I have tried so many of the ordinary’s products, some hit or miss for me personally. I have fairly sensitive skin and tend to get a few large, under the skin acne in my t-zone with some smaller blemishes here and there. My acne is not severe but it’s been hard for me to find something to clear and control my skin, particularly on a budget. I have tried every kind of acid and dabbled in retinol, staying consistent with my routine when I try something new. I used to live in a city with soft-water (check your city’s water!) and found that it helped keep my skin fairly calm for a while. I used to live in a city with soft-water (check your city’s water!) and found that it helped keep my skin fairly calm for a while. I just moved to a city with hard-water and found it made my skin very hard to manage because it strips your skin of hydration, so I was in that “oily but my skin is flaking off like it’s dry” state. I decided to try this mandelic acid because it’s probably the only acid I haven’t tried and I thought the HA would help bring back some moisture to my skin - and I was right! After 2-3 weeks of adjustment and some bad zits, my skin has literally never looked or felt better. I’ve had oral antibiotics for acne before and it reminds me of those good times. I use a very simple cleanser (like Cetaphil) morning and night, a few small drops of the niacinamide + zinc serum, and a few small drop of the mandelic acid + HA all over my face, followed but neutrogena’s fragrance free hydroboost moisturizer. I know TO says to use this once a day but I’m doing this day and night has been working for me, personally. I also have some old acne scars and small bumps that I don’t know the medical term for, and my skin has gotten a lot smoother pretty quickly. I’m probably near the character limit here, but hope this helps!

Maintains Skin Texture and Smoothness
11 June 2021

This is my third week of using this product. Purchased in hopes of reducing pigmentation caused by pimples. Used on daily basis, first week only on the chin to see if it would cause redness/breakouts; the product did not cause any major breakouts, but did cause flakiness, which is natural due to the AHA (personally able to tolerate). On second week, applied product on cheeks. I have sensitive skin, so application process as follows: one pump of product into palm, massage gently into skin, leave on for a few hours, rinse off, continue normal skincare routine. After 4 days of utilising this process, I’ve noticed significant improvement in the texture and brightness of my skin. It evens out the skin and prevents my skin from breaking out. Four stars given because product feels very oily when applied (for oily skin, this may not be too pleasing). But it fully absorbs into skin after a few minutes. Will continue use and definitely purchase again.

I got into complicated treatments really late in life. As a early teen, I started using suncreen and moisturizers like oil of olay and friends would poke fun at me and say I smelled like an old lady. My mom was older when she had me and was fanatical about me moisturizing and using sunscreen but now in my mid 40's I am looking for something a little more powerful. I have always had to use Almay and other hypoallergenic makeups, my face is super sensitive to face washes that say they fight acne so I stick with Neutrogena. I have watched so many videos to find a regimen which led me here. I have bought at least one or two items out of each of the ordinary's categories. The lactic acid, I can use once a week, the vitamin C's not at all. This Mandelic acid so far has shocked me, it did not burn, tingle or dry out my face. I have used it 4 nights in a row and this morning, Friday, as I was getting ready to put my foundation on, I noticed my skin looked different. It reminded me of what my skin looked like about 20 yrs ago, I know that sounds silly and likely isn't 100% accurate to what my skin really looked like back then but it is close. My skin, especially my forehead and cheek area are significantly more youthful. Almost the rosy cheek look where it appears I am wearing a little blush but I am not. I am super pleased and can only hope my feelings about this product stay the same. I say try it, research what you should and should not use with it and give it a week, you might me shocked like I was. I am so glad I tried it, I wish I would have tried it a month ago, now I have other products from the ordinary that I may not use anymore and will throw away.

Let's be honest about skin care products. None of them are the miracle cure they claim. But not all products are just snake oil either. I have the fortunate of having a friend who has a chemistry degree and worked at several cosmetic companies, including some with very expensive products. She has told me that top executives still secretly use botox and fillers despite charging outrageous prices for their skincare products. I have used many products she has given me but no product I have used has been game changing or made a dramatic difference over night. At best the products I've used have made positive incremental difference over time, and they do not cause breakouts. This product is one of them and is very cheap. It seems to have slightly faded pigmentation, brighten and evened out my skin tone and reduced signs of aging A LITTLE BIT. It is the only product I've used continuously from Deciem along with their excellent serum foundation. Although with their great prices and customer service, I will continue to experiment with others. If you are like me and can accept the realities of aging and occasional skin problems without using invasive procedures, but want something that can help - this is a good product.

Skin so Smooth

I bought this some time ago, but only got serious about using it regularly 2 month ago. I use it once a week and leave it on over night. It has made my skin look fresh and clear and people at work have asked if I have been on holiday :-) I don't have any specific skin issues, but it stopped my skin looking dull and lifeless. Now I am glowing and look healthy. Unfortunately my skin breaks out from HA, so I use it Sundays and the small amount of spots have cleared up by Tuesday. I use retinol the rest of the week and the combination makes my fine lines so much better, even the Marionette Lines are not as deep as they were before. I like the fact that this Acid is gentle and due to it's larger molecular size doesn't penetrate as deep as the others, for me that is ... MoreI bought this some time ago, but only got serious about using it regularly 2 month ago. Sorry, The Ordinary....

I had high-hopes for this, as The Ordinary is my go-to for skincare, though, to no avail. It was a flop.I was using for a couple months with NO noticeable difference or affect to my skin-tone, fine-lines, blemishes, OR redness.I initially bought it as my first acid product, but must have overestimated my skin's sensitivity, as I'm sure it can handle more than this.In fact, I've since purchased Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, and use Glycolic and PHA toners with no issue. The Anhydrous Salicylic 2% Solution has become my holy grail now, and replaced my Mandelic Acid use.I have combo-DRY, somewhat reactive/sensitive skin.I don't regret purchasing it, as I believe it was a cautious first-step into the big new world of acids, and would even recommend other ... MoreI had high-hopes for this, as The Ordinary is my go-to for skincare, though, to no avail. Where have you been all of my life
3 January 2023

Let’s start by saying I was skeptical, but boy was this ever worth the purchase. After trying a few of the Ordinary products like their lactic acid and my skin becoming much worse I was weary. I’m stuck working in a hot kitchen half of the year, and my skin was suffering breakouts because of it. Benzoyl peroxide works great, but leaves me with such weird textured skin. So I took the plunge with Mandelic acid, and let me tell you it’s day and night. My skin is almost blemish free, it’s smooth, my fine lines are much less noticeable, acne scars are almost fully faded, and any texture issues I’ve had are almost completely gone. Will never go without this stuff again! Just note it can be dying use a good healing barrier repair cream like SkinFx or CeraVe
